Talk about trauma. Katie Love grew up virtually an orphan after her mother committed suicide. She was then adopted into a Jehovah's Witnesses household and she went knocking on doors spreading the Word, but she felt trapped by all the regimentation. What did TM do for her? “What TM did for me,” she says, “was it took all the tools that I had, like therapy, books, my love of nature, and put it all together. Set it on a course of easy, relaxed thinking.” Now she is a published author and a stand-up comedian, and she doesn’t get butterflies before a show any more. And TM fills her with creativity. So what about the trauma? Ancient history for her now.You can purchase a copy of Katie Love's new book Two Tickets to Paradise: From Cult to Comedy here KATIE LOVE is a writer-comedian, writing coach, and producer living in Los Angeles. She is the author of the novel, Cubicide, and L.A. Artists, a collection of interviews featuring some of L.A.'s award-winning artists. Katie is currently hard at work on her new novel and slinging jokes in preparation for her solo show, The Everything Room. She can be reached through her website at WriteLaughLove.com.

No not that George Washington...Twenty-year Air Force Vet George Washington’s life was pretty much a disaster. Homeless (living in his car and a motor home), mentally disabled, unemployed and unemployable, addicted to alcohol and marijuana, divorced. He learned TM. Now? I think it’s hocus pocus. I think it’s baloney. I think it’s a witch’s brew. But that doesn’t matter what I think. The fact is that I practice. I practice consistently. And it works. It works. Now he’s in a Masters program. He’s completely employable but not needing the work. Oh, as for homelessness. He now own a 1 ½ acre property in his home town of Palmdale, CA priced at $400,000. For anxiety sufferers he says, “Do TM. When your mind goes bonkers, tell your mind, Stop it. Just stop it."

Many of you may recognize Lea Little’s name from her tenure with the Home Shopping Network, where she hosted pitching the advantages of a multitude of products from electronics to beauty products to jewelry, and almost anything else in between. She did it with poise and beauty, and an exuberant attachment to everything she presented on the screen. Lea has that certain magic which makes it clear that sales is more than simply her occupation, it’s her gift—a combined belief in what she is doing and belief in herself that helps her to always connect with her audience. So why does someone like Lea Little need TM? She’s at the top of her game and she seems to be doing just fine. In today’s episode we talk about what TM can do for the high-performance individual to achieve and maintain peak potential. Lea will be the first to let you know she is an ambitious person, but that ambition is driven by compassion and a desire to help others; during the program she goes on to quote another great salesperson, Zig Ziglar with his statement, “Selling is helping.”Interestingly, Lea is quite new to the study of Transcendental Meditation, having taken up the practice less than a month prior to this interview, and under the tutelage of our host Jim Meade. So we will get an opportunity to hear about some of the immediate changes TM has brought into her life. Transcendental Meditation is not the only new thing that is happening in Lea Little’s life. She is an avid reader, and during the COVID lockdown she engaged herself in a formidable personal challenge of reading a book every day, which she maintained for a remarkable period of four months. Inspired by this exercise, she is preparing to launch a new program in which she will interview authors of new books. Who knows, perhaps Lea will become the new Oprah.Lea Little is a television host and joyful mom who loves sharing ideas and information. She is grateful to have found such a rewarding career discovering products that save time, MAKE LIFE EASIER and create beauty. If you’re a shopper you will recognize her from years in the television shopping industry on air with HSN, Shop at Home at Home, Jewelry Television and The Shopping Channel.  She hosts shows and presents products ranging from exotic jewelry to techy gadgets to beauty solutions representing brands including Bose, Curl Secret, iRobot, Canon, no!no! and Sony. In the infomercial world, she has presented everything from cooking to hair tools to home solutions and cleaning products.Lea began as an entertainment journalist producing the “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Special” while still in college. In the early 90s, she worked to originate the flagship news magazine program, “Hot, Hip & Country” interviewing top celebrities and sharing life stories of some of country music’s most influential industry leaders. What started as a show concept hand-written on a piece of paper went on to later be the model for country music television shows. She was later recruited by a WB Network affiliate to manage production and promotion and oversee marketing and image campaigns, while doubling as an on-air personality. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science as well as certification from the Gemological Institute of America as an Accredited Jewelry Professional. Her favorite hobby–outside of shopping of course–is spending time growing and learning with the joy of her life, her daughter Victoria.https://www.lealittle.com/
As legendary figures in American music go, few are as significant or as prolific as the Wrecking Crew; a loose collection of Los Angeles based studio musicians who initially merged together as session players for producer Phil Spector. They went on to define the sound of rock music laying down tracks for the Beach Boys, the Byrds, the Monkees, the Mommas and the Poppas, Jan and Dean, and too many others to count. Though at the time they worked in relative anonymity, a few of them did achieve fame as solo acts, most notably Glenn Campbell and Leon Russell. Others, such as Carol Kaye, Hal Blaine, and Tommy Tedesco, have finally received some name recognition among the general public, thanks in no small part to the documentary film “The Wrecking Crew” produced by Denny Tedesco as a loving tribute to his father’s legacy. The creation of such a monumental testament is clearly no easy task, and in Denny’s case it was a labor of nineteen years which strained his family life and left him bankrupt, anxious, and suffering from an extremely protracted case of insomnia. Today, Jim and Denny will talk about how his tireless work on creating this film impacted his life, and how the Transcendental Meditation program helped him to get himself back on track on The End Anxiety Podcast: with James Meade and Friends.

The End Anxiety podcast has hosted several wonderful guests who have been gracious enough to share their stories about how the Transcendental Meditation program has helped them through an assortment of trials and tribulations. Often their accounts speak of how some personal issue or crisis is the motivation which led them to explore the possibilities of TM in the first place. Our guest today is a little different. Brent Rubin is a retired podiatrist living in Western Florida who has been practicing TM since 1969, and when asked he will describe himself as “living the dream.” Brent did not come on our program to talk about any specific problems in his life—not that he claims to live a completely worry-free existence—but he is more interested in talking about the mental clarity that one can achieve from commitment to the TM program over decades. Sure, problems arise, but Brent explains how TM helps him to put everything in perspective and how he has come to realize that a lot of our problems exist more in our own minds than in reality. Mr. Rubin has also found that with TM the motivation and drive that he had in his professional life continues well past his retirement. Sit down and relax with a cup of tea, and enjoy today’s fun, easygoing, and very spontaneous chat as Jim and Brent talk about how the Transcendental Meditation program has something to offer for everyone.

Debora Masterson

Debora Masterson

2022-11-0225:54

Today’s guest is Debora Masterson and she will share her inspiring and remarkable story of transformation, all made possible by her taking up the practice of Transcendental Meditation. As a young woman Debora did experience some bouts of depression and drastic mood swings, however this was nothing like the overwhelming grief that she experienced when her soul-mate Craig succumbed to illness at a relatively young age. She describes how this loss triggered patterns of self-destructive behavior in the form of alcohol and substance abuse, and a general lack of control in her life. Then from the most unlikely source, a Jerry Seinfeld interview, she found the motivation to try out TM and the results have been astonishing. Since then she has written a book manuscript, engaged in the refurbishment of a historic home, and pursued her love of music to name just a few of her creative activities. Through TM Debora has found a calm center while at the same time a powerful energy to pursue any endeavor she puts her mind to. Listen to her fascinating story.

There often doesn’t seem to be any good reason for us to suffer from anxiety or depression. Sometimes the causes lie in some deep-rooted ailment or a physiological condition. It could be something that we are born with, or something that slowly and subtly develops over time. Carol Conant seemed to be leading a life of fulfillment. She had all the things for which she had strived—in her career she successfully followed her calling as an educator; she had a wonderful marriage and family; and she lived in a setting of natural splendor in Seward Alaska. If you asked her, she would probably tell that there was nothing else she could ask for. But she was unhappy…profoundly unhappy. In today’s episode we will explore Carol’s journey from clinical depression and anxiety to finding Transcendental Meditation as a way to cut through the noise and find her priorities, and in so doing lead an authentic life.

Welcome to End Anxiety! The Podcast with James Meade and Friends. Today we have a fascinating guest with the acclaimed soap opera producer and daytime television executive, Josh Griffith.  If you have ever watched any of the programs that Mr. Griffith has written or produced, such as One Life to Live, Days of Our Lives, or The Young and the Restless, to name just a few, you will have witnessed a multitude of often high-strung characters engaged in countless plots, schemes, betrayals, and machinations designed to leave you at the edge of your seat until you “tune in tomorrow” when the whole process starts up again. When we talk about people dealing with anxiety, these should be the poster children—but that’s just television, right? Well, yes, but when you hear Josh Griffith talk about his own experiences dealing with the very real and high-pressure environment of network television you may be reminded of the saying “art imitates reality”.  How does Josh survive and thrive in this notoriously tough industry? Transcendental Meditation has been his key to success for close to a decade, and it has led him to perform at a highest level of his entire career. Are you dealing with work stress, difficulties in the office, interpersonal problems, and excessive workload? Listen to today’s episode to get some ideas about what Transcendental Meditation can do for you! “The stress was not allowing me to explore my full creativity,” says Griffith. “Stress and anxiety were controlling my life. The effect of TM was instant and effortless. I went from stress controlling my life to my life controlling the stress.” Josh Griffith is an Emmy award winning soap opera writer and producer. Programs that he has worked on include One Life to Live, Days of Our Lives, The Young and the Restless, As the World Turns, and others.
Welcome to the first episode of End Anxiety! The Podcast with James Meade and Friends. For our inaugural episode, we are honored to have a very special guest, the legendary Mike Love of the Beach Boys. Mike will talk to us about his personal development and how Transcendental Meditation has been a key factor behind his longevity as a performing artist and his overall well-being. We will hear stories from the turbulent 1960s when the Beach Boys rose to super stardom, and of that important encounter when Mike met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and began to practice TM under his guidance. Mike will also discuss how taking on the practice of Transcendental Meditation helped him avoid the drugs, alcohol, and other pitfalls of the 1960s era that damaged or ruined the careers and lives of so many young people during rock-and-roll’s heyday. Mike Love is an American singer and songwriter who co-founded the Beach Boys with his cousins Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson and their friend Al Jardine. Characterized by his nasal tenor and occasional bass-baritone singing, Love has been one of the band's vocalists and lyricists for their entire career, contributing to each of their studio albums and serving as their frontman for live performances. During the mid-1960s, he was one of Brian's main collaborators, co-writing hit records such as "Fun, Fun, Fun" (1964), "I Get Around" (1964), "Help Me, Rhonda" (1965), "California Girls."
