Before working in the hospital and home care, I was a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) working in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) on their rehab unit. My time in Long Term Care made me have so much respect and appreciation for all the staff- from nurses to CNAs to housekeepers! I learned so much from the amazing nurses I worked with and it helped make me into the nurse I am today. This episode I'm sharing what a typical day looked like along with the good and the bad of long term care.NSN Instagram: @nurses.supporting.nursesNSN Website: https://nursessupportingnurses.com^Support Groups, Mentorship, Self Care Newsletter & More^Join the Support Group: https://nursessupportingnurses.com/support-groups/Support NSN & The Podcast: https://givebutter.com/20aMroPeace Love Nursing Blog: https://peacelovenursing.comPeace Love Nursing Instagram: @peacelovenursingOne Line a Day Journal: https://amzn.to/3DrSAycThank you for supporting the podcast!Disclaimer: Discussions in this show are HIPAA compliant as all identifying information has been changed. Today we are discussing the history of pre-hospital medicine and how it came to be. The Freedom House Ambulance Service was the first formal paramedic program and Emergency Medical Services in the United States. Staffed by Black men and women from Pittsburgh's poorest neighborhood, these paramedics paved the way to save countless lives. My apologies for the occasional background noise in the episode. I'm trying out a new mic and I need to work on the background noise cancelation (or maybe not record around my dog, lol)NPR Article- https://www.npr.org/2022/09/27/1124161896/at-freedom-house-these-black-men-saved-lives-paramedics-are-book-topicNSN Instagram: @nurses.supporting.nursesNSN Website: https://nursessupportingnurses.com^Support Groups, Mentorship, Self Care Newsletter & More^Join the Support Group: https://nursessupportingnurses.com/support-groups/Support NSN & The Podcast: https://givebutter.com/20aMroPeace Love Nursing Blog: https://peacelovenursing.comPeace Love Nursing Instagram: @peacelovenursingOne Line a Day Journal: https://amzn.to/3DrSAycThank you for supporting the podcast!Disclaimer: Discussions in this show are HIPAA compliant as all identifying information has been changed. CW: SuicideJune is Men's Mental Health Month and today we are discussing this very important topic! Thanks to society, culture, and more- men may have a hard time seeking mental health treatment, expressing emotions, etc. One of the ways to lead to better mental healthcare for men is by having the hard conversations and creating safe and open spaces for me to share their experiences. NSN Instagram: @nurses.supporting.nursesNSN Website: https://nursessupportingnurses.com^Support Groups, Mentorship, Self Care Newsletter & More^Join the Support Group: https://nursessupportingnurses.com/support-groups/Support NSN & The Podcast: https://givebutter.com/20aMroPeace Love Nursing Blog: https://peacelovenursing.comPeace Love Nursing Instagram: @peacelovenursingOne Line a Day Journal: https://amzn.to/3DrSAycThank you for supporting the podcast!Disclaimer: Discussions in this show are HIPAA compliant as all identifying information has been changed.
