A leader at the company had asked her where she wanted to be in 10 years, and she realized she was struggling to envision herself continuing down the same path. Given she had studied communications and economics in college, and she had recently completed a big project that had won her and her team accolades, she made the decision to explore opportunities in finance. The path was not an easy one, given she was starting over in a new career, but her perseverance and passion saw her through to establishing herself as a financial advisor. Michele Walthert grew up in Switzerland. When her father suggested she "broaden her horizons" and go to college in the US, she moved to the States, got a crash course in the language from daytime talk shows, and ultimately graduated with a full time job lined up right before 9/11. Suddenly her path changed - as it did for so many - and she found herself as a receptionist in a financial firm learning the industry. She transitioned to client services then decided to pursue a career as a financial advisor. Now decades later, having become one of the country's top advisors (recently recognized by Forbes in 2023 as a Best in State Female Advisor) she stepped into her new role - as the Head of Advisor Success at Wealthspire Advisors. Here is Michele's story. IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE INFORMATION Wealthspire Advisors LLC (“Wealthspire”) is a registered investment adviser and subsidiary company of NFP Corp. With support from the firm, she made the leap into technology, and today is the Head of Advisory Technology at Wealthspire. She is responsible for the strategic vision and implementation of all software and technology applications for Wealthspire, including developing and ensuring best practices, providing ongoing training and support to all users, and serving as the relationship manager between the firm and technology partners, custodians, and vendors.
