Kirsty Paterson, the founder and proprietor of The Awakened Mind is a fully qualified Mindfulness Practitioner and a member of The International Alliance of Holistic Therapists, The Complementary Medical Association, and The International Association of Neuro Linguistic Programming and Coaching.For around 18 years I battled with depression and found the world and everyone in it to be a very dark, unhappy and lonely place. During this time I tried everything from medication to counselling sessions in an attempt to fight depression. It was during one of these sessions that I was advised to go along to an eight week mindfulness course that was due to start. I therefore gave it a go but did not expect much as nothing else I had previously tried had ever helped.However, by the end of the eight weeks I was hooked! I was feeling great, like a weight had been lifted of my shoulders and I had fallen in love with mindfulness and all it had to offer. I felt much more able to deal with life and realised it is what you make it. I then began to rebuild my life and even started to enjoy myself.I then decided this was what I wanted to do with my life, I wanted to study hard and practice mindfulness so I could help others improve their lives through mindfulness and meditation and achieve what I had achieved.And so The Awakened Mind was born!Hear more of her story here
We often hear the phrase "live in the moment" and while it's important to enjoy the present, it's also crucial to make thoughtful decisions about our future. Sometimes, we can get caught up in living on autopilot, going through the motions of our daily lives without truly thinking about what we want and what is best for us.One of the most powerful things we can do to take control of our lives is to make conscious decisions. The story of a woman who came to one of my live events serves as a powerful reminder of this. She had traveled to be there with her husband, who had a dream of starting a business. However, her husband eventually decided to take a corporate job and leave her to run the business alone. For eight long years, she felt trapped and unfulfilled, but it wasn't until she made the decision to leave that she realized how simple, yet life-changing, a decision can be.Making a decision, especially a big one, can be overwhelming. We may feel like we're taking a risk or we may be afraid of the unknown. But it's important to remember that staying in a situation that no longer serves us is the real risk. We only have one life to live and we owe it to ourselves to make the most of it.One way to commit to making a change is to pay upfront for something. This can be a gym membership, a business opportunity, or anything else that requires a commitment. When we pay upfront, we are more likely to follow through with our decision and make the change we want to see in our lives.For example, in my fitness and weight loss business, I had a woman message me about my results. She was inspired by my transformation and decided to invest in my program. By paying upfront, she was committed to making a change and followed through with her decision. She not only achieved her weight loss goals, but she also gained a sense of accomplishment and control over her life.It's important to remember that decisions, big or small, can have a significant impact on our lives. We should not be afraid to make changes and take control of our lives. We are capable of making conscious decisions that will lead to a more fulfilled and satisfying life.In conclusion, living on autopilot may feel safe, but it doesn't lead to a fulfilling life. It's important to make conscious decisions and take control of our lives. Remember that even small decisions can have a big impact, and that paying upfront for something can be a way to commit to making a change. Don't be afraid to take a risk and make a change, you deserve to live the life you want.
