In this podcast episode, I delve into the crucial role of emotions, especially for individuals like myself who identify as highly sensitive. I ponder the influence of early life experiences on our ability to express emotions and how, as sensitive individuals, we often suppress them to conform to societal norms. Sharing my personal story, I recount the challenges I faced, including panic attacks and emotional struggles during my pregnancy with my daughter Sophie.A pivotal moment for me was realising the value of simply sitting with my emotions, refraining from the urge to fix or bury them. I dig deeper into the profound impact of the subconscious mind, emphasising how it communicates through our emotions. Throughout this episode, I encourage listeners to embrace their feelings, decipher the messages they convey, and recognise that emotions aren't necessarily facts but rather signals from within. I extend an invitation for self-reflection on each listener's emotional journey. As I gear up for in-person sessions and celebrate my birthday in December, I extend a special offer of discounted coaching and holistic therapy sessions for both local and online participants throughout December and January. If you would like to book in one of these offers then please click the relevant link below:In-person sessions in Ibstock: https://www.katecarter.co.uk/services-in-personOnline sessions:https://www.katecarter.co.uk/online-servicesAs always, I would love to hear your takeaways and your own journeys so please do reach out Kate xApply to share your own sensitive story on the podcast:https://forms.gle/Tq9EkXRbrPpTb4KP9Connect with Kate:Learn more about Kate https://www.katecarter.co.uk/aboutFind out more about the services Kate provides online:https://www.katecarter.co.uk/online-services Instagram: www.instagram.com/katecartercoaching Download your copy of The Start-up Guide to being a HSP: https://subscribepage.io/HSP-guide
In this episode, I dive into the scale from highly sensitive to narcissistic behaviour, sharing insights from my work with clients. We'll explore the tendency for highly sensitive people, like many of us, to lean towards people-pleasing and avoiding confrontation. I discuss the importance of finding balance and embracing our desires without the guilt that often comes with it.I touch on the challenges we face in making those everyday micro-decisions and how our language, especially the use of "should," can impact our choices. I invite you to join me in looking inward, focusing on our inner dialogue, values, and strengths. It's all about self-compassion as we navigate through setting boundaries and engaging in those tough conversations.Towards the end, I encourage you to take small steps toward your desires and seek support when needed. Join me in this journey of self-discovery and empowerment.I also mention a blog post from Elaine Aron which you can read herehttps://hsperson.com/revisiting-vulnerable-narcissism-and-hsps/If you have any takeaways or questions or you would like support, please do reach out at kate@katecarter.co.ukKate xApply to share your own sensitive story on the podcast:https://forms.gle/Tq9EkXRbrPpTb4KP9Connect with Kate:Learn more about Kate https://www.katecarter.co.uk/aboutFind out more about the services Kate provides online:https://www.katecarter.co.uk/online-services Instagram: www.instagram.com/katecartercoaching Download your copy of The Start-up Guide to being a HSP: https://subscribepage.io/HSP-guide
