Description

Have you ever wondered what the outdoors is like through the lens of a metal leg and a front loaded snack sack? We may or may not be serious, but our topics think they are. Kinetic energy, mechanical broadheads or the most effective camo on the market; we plan to dazzle you with a scent-free mix of fact or fiction. You choose what you want to believe and bring your own Little Debbie's to the party. We will certainly cause harm to prosthetics, legal game animals and an AYCE buffet throughout the course of our levity and lamentations. Listen at your own free will. If you have comments or complaints, a company or product you want discussed, reviewed or interested in sponsoring an episode; contact Sprocket and Chubbs at the links below: www.limbitlessoutdoors.com, www.faithfulsportsman.com, email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.com, Information for the A3G Initiative is available at: www.a3ginitiative.org, email: a3g.initiative@gmail.com

Not all podcast guests are created equal. One could say the same thing about elk calls, too. It certainly makes sense that since my favorite elk diaphragm is the pink Jason Phelps signature call, my preferred Phelps Game Calls episode happens to be with Mr Jason Phelps himself (sorry, not sorry, Dirk! LOL)Sprocket and Chubbs podcast was able to grab Jason for an hour of talking turkey before the season kicked off. Jason gives us a rundown on the current turkey call lineup offered on the Phelp...

Over 9 miles were logged for the day, and guys found some incredible deer, bear and turkey sign with ample locations for pitching shelters near water sources ...

When you are hunting or scouting, do you have an "if I get hurt" plan? Is that plan merely a cell phone or satellite means of communication? Do you have the "stuff" and have you used the gear you plan to stop a bleed should you become seriously injured while in the wild? This week's episode has Sprocket face to face with DJ Struntz, the Minister of Propaganda from North American Rescue. Welcome to the S&C Outdoor Podcast! This episode is Part Two of Sprocket's Backcountry Hot Tent 2023. It's a continuation from the previous Tailgate Talk that morphed into this full episode.   Sprocket's backcountry hunt was cut short due to the passing of his father-in-law, who was a dedicated whitetail hunter. Sprocket packs in for one final trip in 2023. Nestled in an Appalachian canyon, somewhere in western MD, he is making a final run for whitetail with his Traditions muzzleloader nicknamed "Deuces".Adding to this trip will be a new piece of gear and backcountry experience for the one-legged wanderer. This will be his first trip running a "hot tent" with the Argali Skyline Ti titanium stove, in conjuction with the Argali Rincon shelter in floorless mode.Listen in as Sprocket records from his Hammock Gear Economy Burrow quilt, soaking in the warmth from the chattering fire box. This episode is the first of two, as Sprocket's adventure is cut short (more details in part 2).Enjoy!As always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
In this most excellent episode, the Pirate and the Fat Man are blessed to sit down with Josh Kirchner, the Dialed In Hunter.  Josh is an avid backcountry hunter and outdoor writer who thrives on chasing elk, deer, bear, and javelina throughout Arizona. Sprocket & Chubbs have followed along with Josh's adventures throughout the years and love what he represents in the outdoor community. He is extremely humble, but offers a wealth of knowledge from experience in the backcountry. He's an up front, honest, real-as-it-gets hunter with a passion for sharing his adventures. Josh is also a filmmaker who recently released  "Perspective" which documents his quest for a mountain mule deer in 2023. There are ups, downs, and real emotions throughout and we highly recommend watching it. Josh's book, "Becoming a Backpack Hunter: A Beginner's Guide to Hunting the Backcountry" is full of great information from his experiences preparing and setting foot in the backcountry. To date, this is our favorite episode we've recorded. It's one you will NOT want to miss, with some awesome gear discussion and hunting stories that are full of excitement. We also want to mention that the Sprocket & Chubbs audience can get 20% off at Latitude Outdoors if you use the code "sprocket&chubbs" at checkout.  Hurry on over and buy that Method II Saddle kit  or the Carbon Sticks you've always wanted! As always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
In this episode, the dynamic duo get caffeinated! If you've listened to the podcast before, you know we love our coffee! Making it at home is great, but what about having coffee 5 miles into the mountains? You won't have to think to hard because Sprocket offers up some great coffee making options for that backcountry pick-me-up. Maybe we should call him the Mountain Barista! Here are links to some of the coffee recommendations:KUJU CoffeeDark Timber CoffeeBlack Rifle CoffeeJetBoilAfter that, Chubbs recaps his whitetail hunt during the firearm season in NY with his dad and brother. It's been nearly 20 years since he's been able to hunt two seasons in NY he explains why and shares about his adventure. It's a fun-filled episode with the banter of two good friends high on caffeine and deer hunting! In case you missed it, the Sprocket & Chubbs audience can get 20% off at Latitude Outdoors if you use the code "sprocket&chubbs" at checkout.
This episode was fueled by carbonated adult Sunny D's, friendship and a passion for the outdoors.Sprocket spent the weekend in Bel Air, Maryland, hunting whitetail with good friends Anthony (Mussolini) and Alicia (the Huntress) Fiorilli, Art (the Mexian with a German last name) Schlosser and Andy (not so young) Young at the Fiorilli's rendition of the Scar Face Hollywood set (their MASSIVE home), which we have named "Little Italy".The crew discussed several outdoor topics, including muzzleloading, Andy's reflection of his ENTIRE Sunday, and women in the archery community (will never be promoted enough).Settle in for a great jam session as this group of friends capture what a night at hunt camp (urban or remote) should be like. Nothing but laughter and fun.Enjoy!!!As always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
Those who know Sprocket, understand his mindset of "Two legs ARE NOT better than one", however when it comes to wheels, he "leans" towards two. LOLThis episode, the Sprocket & Chubbs Outdoor podcast has the chance to catch up with Michigan State Patrolman, avid whitetail hunter and owner of Stealth Hunting E-bikes, Dieter Kochan.Dieter is a wealth of knowledge regarding E-bikes, how they are designed, how to customize them to the needs of a hunter; doing it all at nearly half the cost of current E-bike giants topping the market.Gear up for a great episode, providing great detail on the topic of E-bike builds, mechanical capabilities and public land legalities.https://www.stealthhuntingebikes.comIG: stealthhuntingIG: rangermatthewsFB: Stealth Hunting EbikesAs always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
This episode brings the Backcountry Muzzleloader Hunt Series to a burning end (actually fizzling out due to the lack of firewood).East Coast Nick and Sprocket spend their last night in Revolution Canyon watching the last bit of gathered firewood turn to embers, indulge on some Fireball and discuss the 13 hour ride they spent in their saddles. Yes, a 13 hour mighty cold ride in their Latitude Tree saddles.Sad to say this is the last episode of this series, but rest assured, there are others on the calendar.Speaking of Latitude Outdoors, use "sprocket&chubbs" on the Latitude Outdoors website for 20% off your order.Give us a like, rate our show and subscribe to all of our socials!!!As always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
Down to the last two episodes in the Backcountry Muzzleloader Series!East Coast Nick and Sprocket are holding strong in the canyon, after spread loading Andy's gear and trekking with him back to the trailhead. It was a worthy sacrifice as the guys indulged themselves with fresh breakfast sandwiches from the local gas station. Trust us when state "They are FAR better than it sounds".Plenty of gear discussion and chatter about the days events. Enjoy!!!As always, you are able to contact the Sprocket & Chubbs team at:Email: sprocketandchubbs@gmail.comIG: @sprocketandchubbsThe Faithful SportsmanIG: @thefaithfulsportsmanLimb-itless OutdoorsIG: @limb_itless_outdoors
Over halfway through with this series and the guys have had a busy day. This episode, Andy spent his day near camp hunting an inviting terrain feature right above camp in. We get to listen to East Coast Nick's up's and down's, literally, and Sprocket decided to log some miles and elevation, returning well after the lights went out.Sprocket shares a quality backcountry Pro tip, the guys chat about shelters and dream about the coming local breakfast sandwiches.
