A practical slice of advice for easing life's significant transitions ... and learning to lead with your best. ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
A new word I learned, some thoughts on being "special," and the story of how I came to know that it's not my job to sustain myself.  // Disclaimer: while the delicious and well-crafted coffee + espresso combo provided stimulation and inspiration for this episode, Caribou has not "sponsored," and is in no way affiliated with this podcast, ha.  Also, the book I mentioned is How To Inhabit Time by James K. A. Smith Big City Coffee Break Spotify playlist ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~

Some thoughts on honor as generational blessing and protection. Where there is honor, there is also humility and where there is humility there is love and there is compassion; so rather than wanting to be right as our first priority, we will want to see others do well. We will want to see them prosper and be in good health even as their souls prosper.~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Thoughts on the glories and messiness and awkwardness of spring; learning to discern our personal seasons. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord; they flourish in the courts of our God. They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green, to declare that the Lord is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him. // Psalm 92:12-15~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Walking through the lyrics of a passover song. Thoughts on commemorating holy days in ways that don't conform to this world.  Myrrh & Aloe :: DARKNESS SPILLED LIKE INK, THEY SAY BLOOD SOAKED THE EARTH AND IT SHOOK AND ROCKS CAVEDHOLINESS HUNG ON MOCKED DISPLAYIF THEY’D HAVE KNOWN, HE WOULDN’T STAY THAT WAYWORD OF GOD MADE FLESH AND NAMEDCOME TO RESCUE, SLAIN TO SAVEELI, HE CRIED, BUT NOT IN VAIN THE ONE WITH A SWORD FOR A TONGUE GAVE DEATH A TASTE JESUS DIED BUT HE DIDN’T STAY THAT WAYBEHOLD THE BODIES OF THE SLEEPING SAINTS WERE RAISEDBEHOLD, THE VEIL IS TORN BEHOLD, THE TEMPLE IS REPLACED MYRRH AND ALOE, RICH IN WEIGHT THE AUTHOR OF LIFE WAS WRAPPED IN SPICE AND BURIED IN A GRAVE THE KINGDOM OF EVIL THOUGHT IT WON THAT DAYBUT HE DIDN’T STAY THAT WAY IF THEY’D HAVE KNOWN, HE WOULDN’T STAY THAT WAY~ Patient endurance is what we need now. A survey of the scriptural and contemplative landscape that inspired Rebekkah The Band's upcoming release, at Dusk; and a deep dive into the lyrics of the first track on the album:The Priesthood {Rebekkah The Band}ON THE GLORIOUS SPLENDOR OF YOUR MAJESTYI WILL FIX MY GAZEAND ON THE WONDROUS MYSTERIES OF YOUR LOVE AND GRACEI WILL MEDITATE YOU ARE HOLYGOD OF STORYSHOW ME SUBSEQUENT GLORIESACCORDING TO GREAT MERCY WE'VE BEEN BORN AGAINTHROUGH JESUS RAISED FROM THE DEADCONCERNING THIS SALVATION IT WAS PROPHET-SAIDGRACE WOULD COME THROUGH ONE WHO BLEDYOU HAVE SHOWN ME YOUR SECRET GLORYAND YOU CALL ME HOLYHOLYYOU ARE HOLY GOD OF GLORYThe Priesthood , which is the opening track of this project was primarily inspired by 1 Peter 1 and Psalm 145. A vague and meandering half-history of Rebekkah The Band and her logo, caffeinated by 28 ounces of seasonal Ube latte from my friendly, neighborhood unionized coffee shop, and featuring a made-for-Youtube ‘What’s In My Bag’ segment. I do plan to be a lot more focused on the upcoming episodes of this mini-series that is the song stories for my new album, ‘at Dusk’ which releases February 29th! ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Some thoughts on perfectionism as the root of emotional hypochondria: perfectionism has a way of crying ‘crisis,’ and accusing you of dysfunction when all you are experiencing is the messiness embedded in the human condition.  ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Suffering teaches us not to lean on our own understanding if we will let it. As light, we are called to illuminate darkness; as children of God we are called to walk in love; but we can't just waltz all willy-nilly into darkness wearing nothing but good vibes and pajamas. We must be strong in  spirit, with overflowing oil in our lamp, and wearing the full armor of God. In our suffering, God is faithful to give us wisdom and peace and relief.  ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Each time I choose perfection in the love of God over pettiness, I am participating in the promise of Habakkuk 2:14: For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad ... those who look to Him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. {Psalm 34:1-5, ESV}  ~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
Some thoughts on the glories of nuance and the importance of not leaning on our own understanding; Sabbath as surrender and an avenue of restored delight in, and reverence of the personhood of God. Mentioned (Unsponsored) Resources:The Weight of Glory, C.S. LewisThe Knowledge of The Holy, A. W. TozerSeven Longings of The Human Heart, Mike Bickle with Deborah HiebertMorning Song (Greatly Loved) by Rebekkah The Band~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Episode 19: Take 1

To modify a quote from Bilbo Baggins, I don't know half of me half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of me half as well as I deserve. Ha. But God knows me better (and thinks more highly of me) than I know. He has intricately gathered me together with purpose and intention and delight. The more completely I surrender to His process, the more clearly I see the importance of not trying to 'prune' myself.... this take is quite a ramble but brings it back home, ha. Mostly thoughts on the environment that I have found myself in, and how it seems expertly suited to inspire and spur me on towards the natural next step in my journey of pouring myself into songs. 'Why Try,' a Rebekkah The Band original~ Patient endurance is what we need now. Take heart. ~
