It’s time for back-to-school so this week I am talking with Mr. Raj Setty, Principal at SETTY a firm offering high quality Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Commissioning and Energy Services. We talk about what schools can do to increase the safety of students, but the common sense that we touch on goes beyond schools and can be applied to just about any building type. I think that you’ll like his approach and recommendations. And as much a we talk about things changing constantly, and that’s hard to believe sometimes, but as Raj mentioned in the interview we did get an update from ASHRAE HQ that the guidelines were updated, so be sure to check out the show notes. Also, Please consider sharing this episode or another one of your favorites. This week, with June being the end of school and all, I thought I would dive into some more career choices for listeners and talk with the School Director from the Perfect Technician Academy, Dr. Thomas Moorman about what it takes to become a HVAC Technician or Installer. You know, he brings up a lot of good points in this interview, specifically the need for skilled trades, that they are careers that you can be proud of, and I love his comparison between the trade route versus the college route from a dollars and cents stand point! Please consider sharing this episode or another one of your favorites. This week I thought I would share my thoughts and some resources about this COVID-19 business. But first I feel this needs some sort of disclaimer: I am not a COVID-19 expert, just like most people on the internet, I am just sharing my opinion and some research that I have done, so don’t think that what I am saying as definitive. Use this to start conversations and search out subject matter experts for your specific questions on a go forward basis. Having said that the topics that we will be covering are: primarily about going back to work, but I’ll touch briefly about stuff being built and future designs. Please consider sharing this episode or another one of your favorites. Show notes can be found at www.hvac360.com/163. And as always, Enjoy! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week I’m again dishing out some highlights from a session that I attended at the ASHRAE conference in the beginning of February. This one what about how to evaluate systems that were to be retrofitted into existing buildings. The benefit of this session gave was two-fold, one being some lessons learned from retrofits and the other was what was the thought process like for how engineers determined what were the best systems to put into these buildings. Please consider sharing this episode or another one of your favorites. This week I’m dishing out some highlights from a session that I attended at the ASHRAE conference in the beginning of February, ahh conferences, remember those?. Anyway, this session was on improving IAQ by avoiding common mistakes. What I liked about how the session was set up was that it was from three different perspectives: Architects, Engineers, and Contractors. I’ll give a shout out to the speakers Fiona Aldous, Norm Nelson (no relation), and George Dubose, they where great and if you get a chance to hear them speak go do that, they won’t disappoint!  Please consider sharing this episode or another one of your favorites.
