Description

Staff, teachers, administrators--not to mention parents, community members and politicians--are constantly making decisions about what is fair and best for students. At Common Ground our mission is to take this conversation to the voices most marginalized in the discussion: real students with real meaningful thoughts regarding equity in schools. Common Ground attempts to upend the traditional power structures by moderating conversations between students and staff in honest, open and respectful examination of school culture as we attempt to answer the question “What is best for students?”

Perhaps the answer is to have lots of conversations and build collective knowledge to work from. This is Part 1 of a series of podcast episodes in which we attempt to do just that.
In this episode, the BET explores what we learned last year, and where we are headed this year in our work promoting equity at Northwest.
Episode 1 of the Northwest Junior High Building Equity Team Podcast explores our building tardy policy.
