It's finale time as we chat about Echo Episode 5 Maya. Taloa reprimands Maya for hurting an innocent life, and, with her hands glowing, heals the woodpecker. Later, the two release it back into the wild.Having left Tamaha and on the road Maya stops off at services unaware that back in Tamaha her family are in danger as Fisk plans retribution for her rejection of his offer to return to New York as his Partner. In Tamaha as the community gets ready for the Choctaw Nation Pow Wow, Biscuits messages Maya that Chula and Bonnie are missing, and she returns to Tamaha. She quickly visits Chula's home, and is met by a vision of her mother, Taloa. Taloa tells her that she is the embodiment of their people's legacy, and that this legacy will echo through her actions. The vision ends, revealing Chula's finished garment. At the Choctaw Pow Wow Festival, Maya locates Fisk, who has kidnapped Chula and Bonnie, and threatens to kill her entire family for betraying him. While Biscuits incapacitates Fisk's men with a monster truck, and Henry takes out Zane, Maya shares her Choctaw powers with Chula and Bonnie, who overpower Fisk's men. Using her powers, Maya takes Fisk to the memory of his father beating his mother, in an effort to heal his trauma and help him let go of his anger. Returning to reality, an outraged Fisk demands to know what she did to him and leaves the festival before the police arrive. The next day, Maya says goodbye to her family before leaving Tamaha. An enraged Fisk retaliates by brutally attacking the vendor. Although Maya witnesses this, she kicks the vendor as payback. Several years later, Maya is about to begin working for Fisk, when he offers a final lesson - only the two of them can trust one another. While they finish their shared dinner, Fisk's ASL translator is dismissed and brutally killed.Back in Tamaha at Maya’s family home, Fisk and his men surround Maya, but Fisk gives Maya an augmented reality contact lens so that they can communicate without an ASL interpreter. Fisk tells her that he will give her his criminal empire if she agrees to return with him to New York, giving her one day to decide. Maya shares this with Henry, who advises against it, but she suddenly receives a vision of her ancestors. At the Choctaw Powwow festival grounds, Chula receives the same vision. Henry takes Maya to see Chula, who tells her that their ancestors help them when they need it most, recounting a vision that she received when giving birth to Maya's mother, Taloa. Maya leaves in anger, feeling abandoned by Chula as a child. Chula later begins to work on a special garment. That night, Maya goes to Fisk's hotel with the intention of killing him. Revealing to her that he killed his father after seeing him beat his mother, Fisk tells her to make good on her threat if that is what she needs, but she rejects this. We're chatting all about Echo Episode 3 Tuklo on this week's podcast. Despite wanting to be a lighthorseman, her father forbids this because she is a woman. Tuklo's father rides out to confront some local criminals while Tuklo braids her hair like a Choctaw warrior. She receives a vision of Chafa and Lowak, and her hands begin to glow. The criminals ambush Tuklo's father, but she hears the attack and arrives in time to save him and his group.Skully is visited by Chula, who encourages her to reach out to Maya, so that she doesn’t lose her granddaughter. Elsewhere in Tamaha, Maya receives a sudden vision of Chafa, Lowak and Tuklo, a warning, but is ambushed and captured by Vickie. Vickie and his associates Bridgitte and Grace, hold both Maya and Henry hostage at Henry's bowling alley, having tipped off Zane about Maya's location. As they wait to hand Maya over to Zane and retrieve the bounty reward they also have to subdue and capture Bonnie after she shows up to ask Henry about the rumours that Maya has returned home. Bonnie is held with Maya and the two of them awkwardly confront each other's absence from their lives as they seek an escape plan from their predicament. Zane arrives for Maya, betraying and killing Vickie. Before he is able to get hold of Maya she escapes and attacks Zane's men, but she fails to get the upper hand as Zane threatens Bonnie and Henry. As he holds Maya at gunpoint, preparing to shoot her and Henry, he receives a phone call, prompting Zane and his men to leave. Maya sends Bonnie away, promising to reconcile with her later, but learns from Henry the shocking revelation that Fisk is still alive. Henry takes up Maya’s previous offer and promises to help her in her war with Fisk, while Skully gives Maya a new prosthetic and a new look for her prosthetic. When Lowak's team is close to winning, the opposing side sends out a formidable warrior who helps to even the score. Lowak is desperate to avoid exile for her team if they should lose, and receives a vision during an intense melee. With her hands glowing, Lowak breaks out of the melee with the ball, and secures victory.Back in Tamaha, Oklahoma, Maya enlists Biscuits' help in hijacking a cargo train guarded by Fisk's men. She locates a munitions container, and plants a homemade bomb inside one of the crates. As she attempts to get off, her prosthetic leg becomes stuck in a coupling. Maya receives a vision of her ancestors, then manages to push the coupling off to free her leg after her hands begin to glow. The shipment arrives at one of Fisk's armouries in New York. Zane dispatches men to unload the crate, triggering Maya's bomb which destroys the facility. Maya later gets a new prosthetic leg from Skully, who reveals that one of the women in Maya's vision was Chafa, the first Choctaw. Henry learns about the munitions explosion and later confronts Maya, warning her to stop these attacks before she ends up hurting people close to her. Fisk arranges for Maya to work under him while promising to find William's killer. Sometime later, Maya would encounter Barton again, who reveals that Fisk was the one who arranged for William's death. Maya ultimately avenges her father by shooting Fisk in the face at point blank range..Five months later, Maya with a bounty on her head and on the run for shooting Fisk returns wounded to her hometown, Tamaha, Oklahoma. She meets with her uncle, Henry. Derek, John and Chris reach the finale of season one with Secret Invasion Episode 6 Home. He gives him the Harvest and in exchange asks that he spare Earth and conquer any other planet. Gravik refuses before using the Harvest vial to empower himself further with superpowers and attempt to kill Fury in the process. Only he learns that The Nick Fury he has met with is a disguised G'iah, ready to get revenge on him for the murder of her parents. She has also received the power of the Avengers from the Harvest, and the two fight, using the various powers of many superpowered beings incorporated into their DNA. G'iah eventually succeeds in killing Gravik with a cosmic beam to his torso.Meanwhile, Raava, in the form of Colonel Rhodes successfully convinces Ritson to authorise a nuclear strike on New Skrullos, but is tricked by Sonia Falsworth into arranging for Ritson's evacuation from the hospital and into a stand-off with the real Nick Fury. Raava attempts to retaliate, but is killed by Fury.President Ritson calls off the strike, allowing G'iah to free Gravik's human prisoners, including many world leaders, Everett Ross and the real Colonel Rhodes. But in the aftermath, Ritson gives a hateful speech against the Skrulls and issues a new bill declaring all off-world species as hostile forces. He threatens to hunt down the remaining Skrulls on Earth, causing unrest as civilians publicly murder various high-profile officials for fear that they are Skrulls.Meanwhile, Sonia Falsworth meets with G'iah and proposes a partnership to protect the Skrulls against Ritson's bill. While, after cautioning President Ritson about the unrest he caused, Fury asks Varra to come to S.A.B.E.R. with him to help negotiate on behalf of the Skrulls at a peace summit with the Kree. But he needs to go to Finland.Meanwhile Gravik’s plan hasn’t worked out the way he wanted to. When Pagon challenges him he’s killed and Gravik tells the rest of his lieutenants they have no voice and shouldn’t question his plans. They attempt to overthrow Gravik but with his own Super Skrull abilities he kills them all.Gravik reaches out to Skrull Rodey to enact a new plan. He is to convince the US President to destroy New Skrullos dropping bombs in Russia. But it’s a ruse to convince Fury to hand over the DNA of all of earth’s mightiest heroes to him. He also sends his troops to execute Priscilla for her failure to murder Fury.After giving her father a traditional Skrull send off, G’iah helps Priscilla survive the attack on her life and Priscilla drops her off to her next mission.Following a plane ride to Finland, piloted by the ever resourceful smuggler Rick Mason, Fury reunites with Sonya Folsworth. She learns Rodey is a Skrull aligned with Gravik and that Fury’s personal connection to the Skrulls means he doesn’t want any innocent members of their species to die.He retrieves the vial from his grave and all of his equipment telling Sonya he’s going to trade with Gravik to save the planet. She thinks that peace on earth between Skrulls and humans is delusional and tells her father she has changed as she walks away. Elsewhere, Priscilla meets with Rhodes, who is revealed to be a disguised Skrull. He instructs her to kill Fury, though both of them are unaware that Fury is listening in on their conversation. Fury later confronts Priscilla over her allegiance, but they make amends after she reveals she took an oath to her human counterpart to never harm her lover. Fury breaks into his hotel room under the ruse to iron things out between him and “Rhodey” and the two share a drink, which unknown to Rhodes contains a liquid tracker. Fury and Talos then follow him as he goes to pick up President Ritson.Gravik and the Skrull rebels attack Ritson's convoy under the guise of Russian terrorists. With the aid of the British Army, Fury and Talos extract an unconscious Ritson, but Talos is wounded in the process. A British soldier helps the injured Talos to Fury’s car. Gravik later meets with Talos to negotiate a parlay, but discussion breaks down when Gravik threatens to kill Talos's daughter G'iah.But G'iah secretly sends Talos information about the attack, while Fury meets with him and pleads to work together again. Fury contacts Sonia Falsworth and learns the name of the Naval Command Headquarters' officer in charge, Commodore Robert Fairbanks.Fury and Talos arrive at his home and interrogate Bob Fairbanks, but the Commodore provokes Talos to kill him. When he realises he's being pursued he calls Maria Hill for an extraction. But as the pursuit intensifies, Everett Ross falls to his death in front of Maria. But as his body transforms to its original Skrull form, his pursuer reveals himself as Nick Fury's close Skrull friend Talos.Nick Fury returns to earth from his mission setting up the planet's defence system S.A.B.E.R. Talos tells him all about the new Skrull threat, a young Skrull Gravik, disillusioned by Nick Fury's failure to provide the Skrull refugees with a new home. His methods to build a new Skrull homeland on earth are extreme and violent with the intention to start a war between countries. Gravik has been calling other Skrulls to his cause at his base, New Skrullos, in an abandoned nuclear facility where he is planning his next strike against Moscow.Using his contact in MI6, Sonya Falsworth, Nick learns of a bomb maker in Moscow who is working with the Skrulls. Fury and Talos confront the bomb maker and learn of the plot to set up three explosions around a central square in Moscow which will plunge the planet into another Cold War.Talos meets his daughter G'iah who has joined the renegade Skrull forces under the leadership of Gravik. He pleads with his daughter to help Fury stop the bomb and G'iah agrees to mark the bombs so they can be tracked.Fury, Maria Hill and Talos converge on the bombers thanks, seemingly to the tracers placed by G'iah, but their backpacks are empty. As the bombs go off and chaos erupts, Maria is shot by a Skrull who takes the face of Nick Fury to trap her. There’s definitely a spark and Matt shares his “one for us, one for them philosophy with Jen”. But the other side of Matt’s double life comes crashing in as his client Luke has been kidnapped and he runs off to help.
