As you may know, this year’s USPSA Multigun Nationals was held at Forest Lake Sportmen’s Club in Forest Lake, MN. I was very fortunate to attend thanks to ISOtunes Sport and I had a great time. Fun and challenging stages and great staff.A few months ago I had match director Adam Maxwell and assistant match director Kevin Harrington on the show to preview the match. In today’s episode I have Max Leograndis on to do an analysis of the match- what went right, what went wrong and what could be done in the future to make an even better product for the shooting community. I’m really excited to have Max on the show again because I feel he’s in a unique position to see multiple aspects of the match environment from the perspective of many different stakeholders because Max is a world class competitor himself, he’s a match director, he started a new match organization in the Practical Competition Shooting League or PCSL, he’s a high level trainer and most of all, he has a completely different way of observing and analyzing things than me. I always enjoy when I can talk to Max whether on or off the podcast and I know you are going to enjoy this interview. If you have any comments on the discussion, let’s keep it going over at the Prep & Press YouTube Channel where you’ll find the video version of this interview. Important Links From The Show:Max on InstagramCheck out PCSLCheck out USPSAVideo version of this podcast:https://youtu.be/QrwlrD_AXToFollow us on the socials!YouTubeTwitterInstagramISOtunes Sport is designed specifically for modern-day shooters looking for the next generation of hearing protection. In this interview we discuss how putting herself out into the firearms media space and creating content around her passion has provided Kenzie many incredible opportunities from competing in game shows to consulting with companies on product development and marketing. We start as we always do with Kenzie's origin story and how she got into firearms, how she got hooked and the natural progression of how she turned her passion into her career. This week’s show is a companion piece to a popular YouTube video that I published recently.  Special guest Tom Kane joins me to compare two different of rifles: the Sig SPEAR LT and the Geissele Super Duty. Tom brings experience from his time as a firearms industry rep & salesman that has participated in countless demos and classes. Tom has a focus on the end user and emphasizes the importance of durable and reliable gear in life-threatening situations. Our discussion delves into the importance of trial and error in finding the right firearm and accessories for an individual's needs. We compare the use cases features and benefits of the Sig SPEAR LT and the Geissele Super Duty. Ultimately each of us picks a winner and if you’ve seen the video on the Prep & Press YouTube Channel then you know which one it is. And if you haven’t there’s a link in the show notes. Check out the YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/rXnb5VfIHy8ISOtunes Sport is designed specifically for modern-day shooters looking for the next generation of hearing protection. This episode of Prep & Press, features part two of a discussion with Adam Maxwell and Kevin Harrington, who are the match director and assistant match director of the 2023 USPSA Multigun Nationals. We ask the question “where is the demand for 2-Gun matches?” We talk about regional differences in the division based on our experience. We also touch on the struggles of the Area 5 2 Gun Championship and compare that to the club matches in our local areas. Then we talk about the the differences between the Israeli and US versions of the Iwi Carmel, and the lure of having a clone correct firearm vs one that is modern. On this episode of Prep & Press, I’m joined by Adam Maxwell, the match director of the 2023 USPSA Multigun Nationals and Assistant MD Kevin Harrington who is also the Stage & Staff Coordinator for the match. And together we discuss the preparation, organization, and challenges involved in hosting a national-level shooting match at Forest Lake Sportsmen’s Club in Minnesota. Deep in the weeds but very important to a lot of 3-Gunners, the boys provide tips and clever solutions for following USPSA safety rules. They highlight the importance of testing all three guns and note the various types of stages that will test the full spectrum of the skill set. There are visuals to go along with this on the Prep and Press YouTube channel so go check those out if you’re interested. And while you’re over there I would love it if you subscribed to the channel. In our second segment we discuss the selection process for the Shotgun World Shoot and question whether it is fair. We emphasize the importance of community support in promoting and participating in matches. Amax and Kevin share their passion for laying the groundwork for a series of area matches culminating in a national championship and creating a cohesive rule set for multigun shooting sports to ensure the sport continues for 20-40 years. This is going to be a two-part episode, so first two segments are here today. Second two segments will drop next week.ISOtunes Sport is designed specifically for modern-day shooters looking for the next generation of hearing protection.
