Have you ever launched a new product or service? Did it fail miserably by your own unreasonable standards? Well, have I got the relatable show for you. In the last few months, listeners and podcasters alike have been given a rare glimpse into the business side of big-time podcasters. Between Joe Rogan taking a $100-million dollar licensing deal in his Spotify move to Joe Budden documenting his divorce from the same platform, we're finally starting to learn some concrete methods on how the biggest creators in the game are treating contracts, ads, and expectations. Add on the drama behind 'Call Her Daddy' and the hosts' battle for IP and we have a good look into where podcasters of all levels should place value. In this show, I'm joined by Badr Milligan of The Shortbox Podcast and Al Pete of Mister Peterson's Neighborhood to discuss our takeaways from the listener's perspective as well as what lessons we'll use for our own shows moving forward. TikTok’s rise in popularity isn’t without controversy. Some of that worry has been orchestrated by other big tech jealous of that growthOthers are worried for more geopolitical reasons. But for a lot of creators, like myself, Tiktok has been far and away the most enjoyable app in years. Especially during COVID--where it forced me to learn video editing on the fly and challenge myself on a new platform. I’m not alone as the app has skyrocketed in growth--and because the company’s owner, Bytedance is located in China, that obviously creates some issues like getting banned by the US government. So as content creators what do we do? How do we protect ourselves and the content we’ve spent a lot of time and energy on? Listen to the latest episode as host Blythe Brumleve dives into the strategies. A lot of projects were put on hold during the Covid quarantine. And while the lockdowns forced me to throw my 2020 content plan in the trash--it led to a new opportunity that seems to be evolving daily. Listen to the podcast I recorded to help launch Freight School Playbook--a membership community to help overwhelmed entrepreneurs, marketers, and sales departments in the trucking and logistics space by providing courses that cut through the digital media noise. Naturally, with any fluid project, there are already improvements being made to the platform--which has resulted in the need to re-record the launch materials. But we do this for good reason as we've got to include more educators excited to share their expertise with the transportation world. Stay tuned for more upcoming updates but until then, join the waitlist to learn more as we get closer to launch at → https://FreightSchoolPlaybook.com
If you're in business or sales, you've likely experienced an event/conference being outright canceled or turned into a virtual event. And while many of us roll our eyes at the mere thought of attending another Zoom call--the truth is virtual events are here to stay. So how do we make them not suck?In this episode, I'm diving into the key takeaways of what makes for a great virtual conference or event so you can apply those tips to your own meetup without, ya know, breaking social distancing rules. For my logistics people, if you participated in Freightwaves Live at Home event, you know exactly what I'm about to discuss. Check the timestamps to jump to a specific topic. Everyone knows the restaurant industry is currently in shambles with the on-going drama from the ‘Rona. This global pandemic has left thousands--possibly millions--without the income they’re used to earning by waiting tables and serving drinks. As an 8-year FOH worker who waitressed at many restaurants, golf courses, bars, and events, I can tell you with confidence the skills I learned while waiting tables help me run two businesses and several side hustles. In this show, I break down those 4 skills that hopefully will inspire my fellow SIN workers to either continue their path in the industry—Or to find a new career to fuel their passions.  About This Show:Bonjour with Blythe covers the wins, losses, and lifestyle around being a present-day entrepreneur.Contrary to popular belief, freelancing and entrepreneurialism are not all working out of coffee shops and taking insta-friendly vacations. Working from home isn't for everyone. But I'm one of the weirdos who absolutely LOVES it. So with the 'Rona wreaking havoc on society and how we conduct our everyday lives, I thought I'd share my best work from home tips to keep you productive but most importantly, keep you sane. ALSOOOOOOO I realize this is a tough time for a lot of businesses and conferences who aren't sure how to take their efforts online. I'm offering FREE zero-obligation consultations on how to best tackle that challenge. I might not have all the answers you're looking for but I'll gladly help out my fellow business owners in showing them how they can do it in the most affordable way possible. Hit my email blythe @ brumlevebrands dot com or social channels and let's all help each other during this crisis. Tips + Links Mentioned During the VideoZoom Video Conferencing: Yes, this is the one with the face filter. Also great for conducting your podcasting interviews too!Marinara Pomodoro Method: here's a link to the Chrome browser extension that I use.Brain.FM: the scientifically proven background music that helps with productivity. You can use my referral link and try it out for freeeeeeee.I also started a thread on Twitter asking businesses who are planning to go the remote work route and tips to improve the process. There are some quality replies that include security setups and VPN access that could prove useful to any business taking this plunge. One of the biggest simple but effective takeaways? Buy a hotspot and stop downloading coupons on the internet.Working out at home with no equipment: there are plenty of videos to be found on YouTube but here is a link to one of my favs.  BONUS TIP: Invest in a Project Management ToolSomething I've mentioned on previous shows is using a project management tool like Monday.com. I use this tool daily and would not be able to handle as many projects and freelancers as I do without it. It's an essential part of my workday but as with any new software tool, it's essential to know a loose plan of what you're work processes look like. Then and ONLY then will a new tool like this be able to help. They even have some great templates to get started such as managing your team remotely with the added bonus of free accounts to all nonprofits during this Coronvirus pandemic. SUPER BONUS TIP: Get EducatedThe best answer to a growing panic is to get educated. Don't be like those anti-vaxxers you read and shake your head at on Facebook. Instead, hear from medical professionals who have studied infectious diseases their entire lives like Michael Osterholm who was a guest this week on Joe Rogan.Watch the entire thing and encourage all of your friends and family to do the same. Then stay updated with the latest news and health advice from one of the best channels on YouTube, Healthcare Triage.
In January most of us are excited to get those New Year's goals going but are you staying dedicated or have you fallen off?
