Description

Karen Leve and Kunyu Ching of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Kansas discuss the issues that concern them the most currently. They are both staff attorneys with the Kansas ACLU. Ms. Leve was previously a Supervising Attorney at The Bronx Defenders, a holistic public defense office that represents clients in criminal, civil, and immigration matters in the Bronx borough of New York City. She worked there for over 8 years, amassing vast trial and emergency hearing experience, defending hundreds of parents and caregivers targeted by the family regulation system in Family Court.

Ms. Ching was born and raised in Johnson County, Kansas. She returned to Kansas after clerking for judges in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.  At that court, she worked on cases involving a wide variety of civil rights issues, including racial and ethnic discrimination, disability rights, labor/employment, prisoners’ rights, immigration, First Amendment/free speech, and excessive force and other police misconduct. Before that she worked for a private law firm litigating patent, copyright, trademark, and employment matters.

They are interviewed by Radio Active Magazine regular Spencer Graves.
