How do you prepare to go on stage at the Opry? Over the past 100 years, comedy has always been a part of the Grand Ole Opry. Mike Snider made his Opry debut in 1984 and officially became a member of the Opry in 1990 when he was inducted by none other than one of the funniest ladies to ever take the stage, cousin Mini Pearl. Mike has appeared on the Opry well over 1000 times. He started playing old time banjo and making people laugh, when he was only 16 and at age 23 He was the National bluegrass banjo champion. As we celebrate the Opry’s centennial, lets go back and listen to an interview with Mike Snider, recorded back stage at the Opry, not long after he joined this most prestigious cast of country entertainers. Opry membership requires a commitment to play the Opry several times per year and to date her schedule and family life has not permitted that. She is married to another big hit maker, Tim McGraw.
