Get ready to have your mind expanded while listening to this week’s episode of the Spiritual Dad Podcast! So much knowledge and gained wisdom shared here by mindfulness teacher and philosophical counsellor Erin McCarthy Phd, (I’m sure she has more titles than this - but it’s a good start). We discuss how to become a mindful parent and the tools and techniques that Erin has devised to help people BE more in the moment. In this enlightening conversation she expresses her passion for her work with amazing clarity and inspires people to get excited about living an empowered life with a heightened sense of awareness cultivated through regular mindfulness practice. Erin was kind to provide a list of excellent resources - The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind by Dan Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson*This is my favourite site for meditations for kids: http://www.kidevolve.com/creative-mind-journeysSelf-Compassion for Parents: Nurture Your Child by Caring for Yourself by Susan M. Pollak and Christopher GermerMomma Zen: Walking the Crooked Path of Motherhood by Karen Maezen Miller**A special note from Erin regarding her free online mindfulness classes - Oh, and finally, the time for my free class has been changed for the New Year and it's still online on Wednesdays through the VillageHub and it's still free... but at noon. We start next week and it's a bit different for this series - it's a whole series on Mindfulness and Goal setting - here's the description and here's a link https://www.erinmccarthymindfulness.com/upcoming-events/new-year Much love and Namaste,Derek
As I state in the introduction for the this weeks' episode of the podcast - this is not a DOWNER conversation - my face actually hurt from smiling and laughing as Geoff openly shared some crushingly hard stories and events involving the loss of his loved ones that have transformed him and changed the trajectory of his life. It is an intimate, wide-open and humorous chat that still has me pondering things - such as the state of reality and perception - am I me only because you see me and define me?? Deep stuff. So incredibly grateful to Geoff for sharing his wisdom and being so friggin' comfy with being vulnerability. Much love.
First guest interview of the podcast - yahoo! This week is super exciting as we have the first guest interview of the podcast - the amazing owner of Pranashanti Education Centre, Devinder Kaur!Get ready for an uplifting chat filled with fun topics surrounding yoga, mediation, parenting, gurus, siddhis/yogi powers, raising community spirit and most importantly - BREATHING :0)
In this first episode of ‘Spiritual Dad’ Derek explains the intent of this podcast/research project which is to gather as much information as possible from some exceptional people that have so graciously agreed to share their knowledge and wisdom on the topics of spirituality, parenting, relationships, music, society, culture, meditation, yoga and mindfulness. Derek shares his personal thoughts on his current state of spiritual awareness which has changed dramatically since turning 40 a few years back. By remaining vulnerable and open podcast aims to bridge the gap between fathers/men (and all parents/adults really), surrounding these often uncomfortable and non-discussed topics.
