As a restaurant owner or manager, when was the last time you took some time off from your restaurant? How long was it?  Have you ever experienced being fully unplugged and recharged-as in not checking labor, not getting those phone calls, and not being asked for different stuff in your restaurant?  The way we measure our effectiveness as restaurant leaders is by assessing how our team performs in our absence.  If you need to be at the restaurant all the time, and everything seems to be working smoothly, there's nothing much to brag about it. Just like parenting, if you need to be there all the time for your children to behave well because they become the opposite when you're not around - that is only a reflection of how you're doing as parents.  In today's show, I'm going to share with you the restaurant owner's guide to freedom - that it's okay to take some time off and be fully disconnected from your restaurant responsibilities and obligations.  Want more info and useful tips on the restaurant business and how to run a restaurant successfully? Today we are talking about a gripping topic in the business industry, the employer vs. employee mindset.   Many of us, business owners or entrepreneurs, have a background working for someone else in our past.  We've experienced being employees at some point in our lives and get paid per hour. It may not be the case now because you are already the employer, and you don't get hourly pay. However, this is what we've used to, and we all come from that mindset.  If you are an employer, a leader of a company, or a business owner, are you proud that you work a lot? or are you mindful of the fact that it's not about the long hours that you spend working but the amount of output that you can accomplish in those times? I would love to read your ideas about this in the comments section. Please tune in to Making Dough Show for your weekly advice on the restaurant business and how to run a restaurant successfully. As a restaurant owner or restaurant manager, how do you usually conduct coaching poor performance of your employees?  Today is a special edition of Making Dough Show as we're about to answer a restaurant management inquiry from Joseph, who submitted a message through our website.  His question is about one of his employees who has been working in their restaurant business for three years. How to run a restaurant successfully? Have you ever heard yourself calling your restaurant business, "My baby?" Because like a baby, it requires a lot of care, and we have to provide all the needs every hour. However, instead of seeing your restaurant business as a baby, I challenge you to view it as a machine! Just like a car, it is a big system, and within it are micro-systems that work together for it to run suitably. You use the gas and brake pedals to control it. As a restaurant owner, you want the restaurant to be working more like a machine that does not need you for every little thing. Today, I'll be sharing with you 37 systems that we've been working on for our restaurant for the last six years. These systems tremendously helped us not be slaved off our business - to run a profitable restaurant that does not run us. Do you want to know how we continuously grow our restaurant into a machine of success? Then, keep watching to know our best restaurant management tips! If you are a restaurant owner, how do you feel when employees ask for a raise because they are doing good in their jobs? When you are having a salary negotiation with a worker asking for a raise, what could be your basis for granting it? Remember, we should not give an increase in salary just because someone is good at their designated job - because we expect them to perform well anyway, right? We only provide a raise if they do new things apart from what they have signed up for, or in other words if we give them new tasks or responsibilities. But what if you, as a restaurant owner, think about how to ask for a raise? The same thing applies to you. If you continue to do the same thing for the last few months, that shouldn't warrant you to get a raise? You must be working on solving more significant problems. If you desire to give yourself a raise as a restaurant owner, if you want to grow your sales or have outstanding results, you need to shift and work on new things. What is your thought on this?
