Episode 16 sees the return of marketing consultant Ian Brodie as he talks about an emerging form of marketing strategy... Value Based Marketing. Providing value to clients can often be the best way to market to them. The old ways of going in for the sale on the first call are long gone and now, clients have all of the power over the businesses.  Ian and Jon discuss why providing value is central to marketing and how marketing teams can adopt value based marketing tactics.
This week on the podcast we have two guys that throughly believe that the pen is mightier than the sword... Yes we have two copywriters in the shed, as I welcome podcast newbie Sam Jones and a previous podcaster Chris Clark to Jabber from the hut.  The theme of this episode is all around copy and 'why it matters' in the digital age. Often shunned by its more visual and colourful siblings design and development, copy is an integral part of marketing and content.  The guys talk about everything from what makes a good copywriter, to how copy is taking the lead in modern digital marketing practices. We also managed to record this on the hottest day of the year in a well insulated shed with no air con which was interesting to say the least...
This week on Jabber From The Hut we have a role reversal on our hands, as the guys talk about online advertising.  Sam Turner takes over the hosting duties with a mission to 'Make hosting great again' while Matt Wood becomes a guest providing his "expert" knowledge on the subject of PPC, and paid social media. Jon Pittham takes on the role of glamorous assistant to Matt... They talk about the benefits of online advertising, how to start thinking about setting up a campaign, pitfalls and challenges and of course the future of advertising.
How does brand and design fit into a growth marketing strategy? Yes it’s an interesting question and one we have endeavoured to answer for you!  This week we invited our head of design Adam Taylor into the shed, a fountain of knowledge on the world of design and brand. We talk about the way brand fits into a marketing strategy, design principles and what the aspects of a good brand are.  Remember; it’s not all about the logo!
This week on ‘Jabber from the hut’ we venture into the mysterious world of conversion rate optimisation, or CRO for short. We’re joined by our Head of Digital Sam Turner and our Managing Director Jon Pittham to look into this ‘dark art’ of marketing. We outline what it takes to develop a solid CRO strategy and how to fit it into your website builds. Then our resident experts talk about some of the tools available to help measure and carry out CRO.
This week on 'Jabber from the hut' we delve into the world of content! Creating quality content and promoting it to the right audiences on the right channels is often a challenge for many businesses. To tackle content we bring copywriter Chris Clark (Yes another Chris) into the shed to talk about all thing content strategy, content creation and the future of content. Not forgetting the return of Sam Turner who also provides some knowledgable insight and experience into this huge often divisive area.
Episode 10 of Jabber From The Hut sees the conversation turn back to website development and more specifically, Content Management Systems (CMS). Matt & Jon welcome Head of Development at ClientsFirst, Chris Brown to chat about the future of CMS. They talk about current CMS platforms and what they can do for businesses,  how they are changing and how they have changed over the last 10 years and the future of web development in general. They also have an interesting chat about the future of the ‘web developer’ job role and AI.
Episode 9 of Jabber from the hut welcomes back the dream team of Sam Turner and Jon Pittham to the shed to discuss a new concept call conversational marketing. What is conversational marketing I hear you say? Well within the digital world it’s quite a new concept. Technology has now allowed businesses to talk directly to their customers, and speaking to your audience in a more human way is more important than ever. The guys discuss the theory behind conversational marketing, the technology that is bringing it forward and practical advice for marketing, sales and services teams to implement it.
Episode 8 of Jabber from the hut sees Sam relegated back to the subs bench, and we welcome Gemma Bowman  (Resource and Operations Manager @ ClientsFirst), to talk about all things Agile. They talk specifically about the ‘Agile methodology and way of working’, something we have recently adopted at ClientsFirst. While traditionally used in the software development sector, ‘Agile’ is quickly being adopted across more and more industries as a solution, for teams and businesses. The keyword? Collaboration! Gemma and Jon provide some really great insight into how marketing teams and businesses as a whole can adopt ‘Agile’ as a way of working and how it can benefit them.
Episode 7 of Jabber from the hut sees Matt, Sam & Jon back in the shed talking about the mysterious subject of T & I Shapes. T & I shapes are 2 different types of workers you can find in a marketing team. In this episode we talk about the theory behind T & I shapes and how a business can start to build a quality Growth Marketing team using said shapes. The guys talk about the theory behind T & I Shapes, how business can use them and how they can build a winning Growth Marketing team using them.
Episode 6 of Jabber from the hut features marketing coach & consultant (and Newcastle United fan) Ian Brodie the creator of the 30 Minute Marketing Plan for winning the clients you need in less than 30 mins a day. The theme of this podcast centres around LinkedIn and using LinkedIn as a growth marketing tool. The platform has undergone some big changes over the last year and is quickly becoming a more feature rich, more engaging platform for businesses and marketers.
Episode 5 of Jabber from the hut sees Jon, Sam & Matt discuss the often overlooked subject of client experience within the B2B professional services industry. They talk about how first impressions count in the B2B industry and making a good first impression both on and offline can be the difference between winning or losing a client. Sam creates his own buzz acronym which is a personal life goal of his and Jon talks us through the joys and perils of HMRC’s website. The guys also find out how hot the shed can get due to its impeccable insulation.
Episode 4 of Jabber from the hut sees Jon, Sam & Matt deviating off marketing into sales, and more specifically sales enablement. The guys discuss how businesses can thrive when both marketing and sales are properly aligned, and they talk about what is needed to put this into practice. From content to tech and automation, no stone is left unturned in this podcast… There is even talk of a joint marketing and sales night out? Unheard of right? No episode of Jabber from the hut would be complete without the usual off topic chat which in this episode mainly revolves around Matt making Sam & Jon sell him a pen and a mug… Yes that classic scenario.
Episode 3 of Jabber from the hut sees Jon, Sam & Matt discussing their growth marketing predictions for 2019. In a bumper extended episode they discuss everything from the rise of Growth Marketing based job roles, to starting movements in the B2B industry, to where marketing juggernaut HubSpot are going next, to using video in everything. No episode of Jabber from the hut would be complete without the usual off topic chat which in this episode mainly revolves around Sam trying to take over the show.
In episode 2 of Jabber From The Hut, we are back with Jon Pittham and Sam Turner talking about all things Inbound & Growth Marketing. We discuss a new way of designing and developing websites called Growth Driven Design or GDD for short, which has taken the Inbound world by storm. We also discuss the aesthetics of the ClientsFirst hut/shed, we talk about Jon’s view of the ClientsFirst staff and there is a brief mention of the infamous ClientsFirst festive Video. It’s one not to be missed!
We kick off episode one in style by taking a controversial yet lighthearted look into the potential death of the sales funnel and the rise of the flywheel. A subject that inbound marketers will have probably heard about, and sales people will probably hate... We also talk about Sam's recent holiday, we get philosophical and we chat about the perils of sitting in a shed... there's something for everyone!
