Today is all about how as a society we are moving towards the reign of the word "YES" rather than the word "NO". I think it spells danger and I outline in full detail my viewpoints. Don't agree? Seamus O’Mahony is the author of two books: The Way We Die Now (2016) and Can Medicine be Cured? (2019). He retired from his post as a gastroenterologist at Cork University Hospital in February 2020, but may return as a volunteer. Too often we think of success as this idyllic place we can ascend to after years of work doing a particular thing. What we should instead be thinking about is what outcomes we desire regardless of success this way we can actively analyze if what we did resulted in the goals we had set out from the beginning. Choices, choices, choices. Everyone has one and in this podcast I give you my take on seeing ordinary life as something that should be cherished and honored. The quote used in todays podcast comes from a speech David Foster Wallace gave to the graduating class at Kenyon College in 2005. The title of his speech was called 'This is Water'.  "Because here’s something else that’s weird but true: in the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And the compelling reason for maybe choosing some sort of god or spiritual-type thing to worship–be it JC or Allah, be it YHWH or the Wiccan Mother Goddess, or the Four Noble Truths, or some inviolable set of ethical principles–is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive."
