I dont think Coryo got "broken up with" but rather Lucy realized his intentions and fled. He did come out of the shed with a gun and did shoot in her direction. I think his obsession with Katniss stems from not just his reminder of Lucy but of the danger someone like Lucy is to his existence. Lucy was likeable in the Capitol, she won the games in a similar way to how Katniss won and he saw himself become obsessed with Lucy. Eventually he obsessed with Katniss in a similar way which caused his downfall
