Shame is a powerful emotion characterized by a deep sense of unworthiness or worthlessness or negative self evaluation and criticism that is often triggered by the perception of failing to meet a personal or societal standard. Whereas guilt is often associated with specific actions or behaviors, shame goes even more deeply as a way that we continue to cut ourselves down and remove ourselves from the very things in our life that can bring us connection and love. It is commonly the toxic emotional catalyst that leads individuals into addiction as a strategy for finding temporary relief from a sense of overwhelming failure in life. Using EFT for shame calls for a shame-informed approach which recognizes that the causality of shame is often traumatic in nature, commonly connected to childhood trauma, often related to addictions and necessitates a slow and gentle approach with any therapeutic intervention like EFT. In this podcast, we discuss some of those important considerations and adaptations.

Fear and anxiety are incredibly common emotional states and one that EFT can be a powerful healing tool for. There is a significant body of published research demonstrating EFT’s effectiveness for reducing these states. While they are related, they are distinct emotions with different triggers and durations. Fear is often a survival based response to a present and specific threat, while anxiety is a more general feeling of unease or worry about future possibilities, often without a clear or immediate threat. Further along the spectrum are phobias and panic attacks. Craig and Alina offer their ideas for how you can begin to conquer some of these intense emotional states.

This episode explores the phenomena known as Borrowing Benefits, which is a concept that describes how a person can most effectively receive the positive effects of tapping on another person’s issues. In other words, by tapping not on your own personal issues but tapping one’s points while observing another person tapping, problems that are unique to you can be achieved. We discuss its origins, how to do it and mention some of the research studies that support it.

In this episode, we explore how Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping can be a powerful tool for healing anger. Anger, often a response to stress, frustration, or unresolved emotions, can take a toll on both our mental and physical health. EFT is a simple yet effective method that combines gentle tapping (somatic stimulation) on specific acupuncture points to help release habitual emotions. While anger can catalyze and push us to take action steps, it can also be a pattern that is triggered by certain situations and can cause harm to loved ones and result in a variety of chronic health problems ranging from cardiovascular disease to back pain. By using EFT, we can neutralize the intense charge of anger, allowing us to feel more balanced, calm, and in control. Whether you’re looking to reduce anger in the moment or work through deeper emotional triggers, EFT offers a path to emotional healing and greater peace. Tune in to learn how this transformative practice can help you break free from the grip of anger and create lasting emotional freedom.

Interpersonal disconnection appears to be occurring at an epidemic level. Estrangement is the experience of distance or separation from friends and family members. It can exist as diminished contact to complete lack of communication and connection. We are living through a period of time, accelerated by heightened political intensity that has resulted in significantly heightened emotional intensity, which has the consequence often of a felt lack of being heard, understood and feeling safe. How can EFT help? It can be used to support clear decision making, mindful truth speaking and boundary setting. Tapping can certainly assist in finding healing from being hurt, angry, anxious and overwhelmed. Being able to release resentment, guilt and shame in order to choose self care, find safety, focus on personal peace first and subsequently relational healing, when and if it is appropriate and timely can all be facilitated using skillful EFT Tapping.

This is a very special podcast with our guest Lisa Forbes, the founder of Operation: I Can Take it From Here. Lisa has a lived history of childhood physical and sexual trauma that resulted in her serving years of incarceration. After her release, with a passion to heal and a commitment to not have her past repeat itself, she discovered EFT and tapped feverishly to transform her life. As a result she started a non-profit with the vision of having a country where the nearly 80 million Americans with a criminal history have healed from the underlying trauma that led them out of the workforce and into the criminal justice system by using EFT Tapping. In this podcast we explore her story, her vision and her current plans for her vision.

Shadow work is a self-discovery process where you explore the hidden or “shadow” parts of your personality—those aspects of yourself you might not fully recognize, acknowledge, or accept.
The “shadow” refers to the traits, emotions, desires, or patterns that you’ve suppressed, ignored, or denied, often because they feel uncomfortable, unacceptable, or don’t align with how you want to see yourself. This is important because those “shadow” parts don’t disappear just because you ignore them. They often show up in ways you’re not aware of, like self-sabotage, unhealthy patterns, or conflicts in relationships. By doing shadow work, which EFT Tapping can be incredibly effective for, you get to know yourself more deeply, heal old wounds, and ultimately become more whole, self-aware, and compassionate. It’s not about “fixing” yourself—it’s about understanding and accepting all of who you are, even the messy or uncomfortable parts. Shadow work can be challenging, but it’s also incredibly freeing and transformative.

Recent news reports have highlighted the relationship between the debilitating condition of hypochondria as an illness anxiety disorder and its correlation with trauma, especially childhood trauma. The life altering pattern of heightened sensitivity, worry and fear associated with minor symptoms may well be connected to a variety of traumatic experiences. Such experiences can embed deep seated beliefs that a person’s body is fragile and constantly at risk of serious illness or death. These experiences can create hypervigilant behaviors around one’s body that are similar to PTSD and hence is sometimes referred to as medical PTSD. Some of the examples discussed include being raised in an overprotective environment, traumatic medical experiences, witnessing a family member’s chronic illness, the trauma of neglect and more can set the stage for this. EFT when safely applied through a trauma informed lens may help to release the limiting beliefs and emotional responses for someone suffering from this experience.

When is advice-giving appropriate? Should a non licensed practitioner be treating pain, physical conditions or mental health disorders? What about when working in collaborative approaches? How does having a trauma informed lens come into the picture? Listen in to find out!

Recently in the US, hurricanes Helene and Milton have brought devastating consequences to Florida, North Carolina and the southeast. Lives, homes and businesses have been lost with millions of people affected. Such traumatic events have ripple effects on those directly impacted but of course it also touches the lives of family, friends, colleagues and those who are witnessing these events who can get retriggered by having experienced similar events in their past. There is of course a hierarchy of immediacy needs with regards to post catastrophe survival that initially need to be met, but with regards to EFT, trauma processing so early is not the highest priority but accessing self regulation is. In this podcast we offer our advice that you can personally use or share in response to such situations. Alina also shares her personal story about hurricane Andrew and offers information on how those affected by this can reach out for EFT practitioner support.

This podcast explores the ways that Internal Family Systems, as developed by Richard Schwartz, can offer an understanding for the many internal aspects of an individual that can be addressed with EFT.
Marion Blique explains how IFS can be used as a powerful lens to help better understand the myriad of inner personalities all of which contribute to why an individual makes certain choices or reacts in ways that may not seem to make sense but are the understandable sequelae of survival mechanisms at play.
Together we explore the role of inner parts such as exiles, firefighters, managers, inner critics and how “blending” with any individual part can lead to less desirable outcomes. We also discuss the larger “self” acting like the director of a symphony can be worked with in order to support a client to gain healing, wisdom and self autonomy. The conversation also includes the stalemate of polarization and complications of dissociation.
Marion also shares several client case studies to illustrate how both IFS and EFT and Matrix Reimprinting can be combined in a client session.
Marion Blique is a French Clinical Psychologist who has resided in the US since 1983. Upon her arrival in the US, she delved into the study of trauma and somatic approaches to deal with the healing of the deeper impacts of trauma on her clients. This included such aspects as: bodywork, Polarity, shiatsu, and mental imagery which she integrated into her more formal French psychoanalytic training, allowing her to address the healing of her clients more fully. In continuing her exploration of the impact of trauma she discovered Energy Psychology (EFT, Matrix Reimprinting, AIT, TAT…) around 2000; it was the missing tool allowing her to work on all levels of the psyche of clients: mental, emotional, physical (somatic) and spiritual. She trained in 2010 with Richard Schwartz and later obtained her level 1 with Tony Herbine-Blank, while she continued to deepen her studies on the somatic level.

In this episode, we explore multiple aspects of the power of being given a diagnosis. Who should and should not be offering a diagnosis? Is it empowering to be given one or is it a curse? How can EFT tapping be most effectively utilized to work with the “sentence” that the naming of a condition can offer? When one is shared with a patient, is it done in a way that empowers and supports healing or can it diminish a sense of control and possibility? This podcast has been revamped since a much earlier interview focused on this topic and was one of our most popular interviews.
Here is the article referenced in this episode.

This comparison chart was published in the 2003 book, Energy Psychology (EP) and EMDR;
Combining Forces to Optimize Treatment, written by clinical psychologists John Hartung, Psy.D. and Michael Galvin, Ph.D.ology. For over 25 years they taught EMDR and EP methods in more than a dozen countries and co authored various manuals in EMDR. In the book they begin by comparing EMDR and EP and then describe the training models they have used to teach these treatments to professionals and paraprofessionals alike.
