Join us for our conversation about what we can take away from the 20-point Utah Jazz victory over the Portland Trailblazers. Comment down below what your takeaways from the game were. The much-awaited season opener for the Jazz was last night! The Jazz beat the Portland Trailblazers 120-100 while holding Damian Lillard to only 9 points! Utah had seven players in double figures for scoring and the team shot 50 three-pointers hitting on 38% of them. There is a lot to be excited about from this season opener and it shows what the Jazz are capable of becoming this season. Will they be fighting for the second seed in the western conference this year? There are reasons to be skeptical of this first win since the Blazers don't have the best defense and Dame Lillard may have just had an off night. But there is a bright future for this Jazz team if they can stay focused and healthy.

The Utah Jazz have finished their three preseason games and now are preparing for their season opener against the Portland Trailblazers. This NBA preseason was unique because teams didn't get a full training camp before the preseason, so starters and stars got more minutes than a typical NBA preseason so we can get a lot more out of this preseason. The Utah Jazz played the Phoenix Suns twice and the Clippers once. This can give us a lot of insight into how the Jazz will start their season since they play both of those teams in their first 10 games.
Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson were two stand out performers for the Jazz this preseason. Both players had at least one 20+ point game so far which gives us high hopes for the Jazz offense especially with the upgrades in defense which will allow the Jazz to have more offensive possessions. Jordan Clarkson may be a front runner for 6th man of the year and Bogey could be a borderline all-star this season.

The Utah Jazz are set to make a deep run in the playoffs, but could we see a cinderella run from this Jazz squad? We think the NBA is underrating this Jazz team and we think they could go further than most people give them credit for. Join us for the Jazz season preview to find out where we think the Jazz will end up this season. We have been hyped about how the Jazz look prepped for a deep run into the playoffs this season. With a healthy starting five and a deep bench, how good are the Jazz going to be? Join us for the 2020-21 season preview for the Utah Jazz. We go over how tough the Utah Jazz schedule for the first half of the season and how the Jazz match up in their first few games. There are some excellent games to start out with so make sure you're tuned in for their first game against the Trailblazers. We also discuss different lineups the Quin Snyder could use during the season in particular a pretty deadly bench lineup that could include Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, Derrick Favors, and even Mike Conley on some nights. That second unit is probably the best in the NBA this season. Oh and we almost forgot we took a little bit of time to trash talk the Nuggets after letting some key pieces walk this offseason. This is our first Jazz season preview episode since we started the podcast in the middle of last season. So let us know what you liked and what you wish we covered and we'll definitely take time to go over it in the coming episodes.

The first half of the NBA schedule was released and it looks a little different than a typical NBA schedule. There are much longer home stands and road stretches. It is also much more common to play the same team twice in a row in the same arena. The Utah Jazz will open the season on the 23rd against the Portland Trailblazers. We also go over the John Wall for Russell Westbrook trade and talk about Russell Westbrook's future in the league. Did the Houston Rockets win the trade? Will James Harden request a trade? Should the Rockets have traded James Harden instead of Chris Paul? The trade left a lot of question marks but it sure makes for good NBA drama. We finish up by going over how different championships impact a player's legacy. Does Dwight Howard's ring not matter as much just because he was a role player? Do Kevin Durant's rings matter as much even though he was the best player on the team?

The Jazz decided to run it back, but with a few critical changes. They brought back Jordan Clarkson on a four-year contract and Derek Favors is coming back to Utah on a three-year deal! This helps strengthen the backup center and scoring positions. In the draft, the Jazz picked up a traditional, defensive-minded big man in Udoka Azubuike and they got another bench scorer with their second-round pick Elijah Hughes. The Jazz are going back to their defensive roots with these moves and are looking to prove to the NBA that a defensive-oriented team can still make a deep run in the playoffs. With a healthy starting lineup and a retooled second unit, the Jazz are looking stronger than ever especially with a weaker Western Conference due to trades, injuries, and players leaving to the Eastern Conference in Free Agency.

The NBA draft is just a week and a half away! And NBA free agency starts 24 hours after. It's time to buckle up and get ready for NBA Free Agency. There is a lot that can happen in this draft and there is no real consensus #1 overall pick. The Jazz have the #23 pick. Join us as we discuss what we think the Jazz should do and what we think the Jazz are looking for in this draft. Are the Jazz looking to trade their pick for future assets or a three and D role player? We also discuss what we think each team should do at the top of the draft. Join us next week for more NBA offseason coverage and rumors!

There is a lot of uncertainty around when the NBA season will start. There have been talks around starting on Christmas which would give NBA teams only a few weeks to prepare with their full roster. With the NBA draft on Nov. 18 and they need a couple weeks for free agency so NBA rosters won't be final until the beginning of December. Join us for this week's episode as we discuss potential start dates for the season and give our take on new coaching hires.

We discuss what can either be described as a dominant showing by the Lakers or a lackluster showing by the Heat., as well as our opinions on how the 76ers will fair with newly hired Doc Rivers at the helm. Will they keep the Embid/Simmons core? Or will they look to trade one for more star power?
The Nuggets are down 3-1 again. The Heat are looking like Eastern Conference Champions. And Centers are valuable again. Join us for this week's episode of the Called Bank Podcast where we will discuss what the conference finals have taught us and what that will mean for the NBA in the future. Plus some free agent/trade rumors including James Harden going to the 76ers 🤔 This was a good one so make sure to rate, follow, and share with your friends. We're making a push for a record week in podcast listeners so we need your help!
The Denver Nuggets pulled out another game-seven victory and find themselves facing the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. Join us this week as we discuss what happened in basketball over the previous seven days and how we think the conference finals will go. There is a lot of mystery this time because the Lakers are the better team but the Nuggets have some come back magic. We also go over our thoughts on the Bam Adebayo block and get sidetracked by the perception of Andrew Wiggins, his draft class, and whether OKC actually paid too much for their cache of draft picks.
The Utah Jazz have exited the NBA Bubble after a heartbreaking game seven loss to the Denver Nuggets. Join us as we give our thoughts on the game and discuss what is next for the Jazz. There are a lot of big decisions the front office has to be considering right now. Do they think they have enough talent to contend for a championship next season or will they decide to trade in their veterans for players on Donovan Mitchell's timeline so they can contend in two to three years? Our bet is that we'll stick with the same core but there are changes to be considered after a round one exit two years in a row. Join us for our thoughts on where the organization is headed and tune in next week for our continued playoff coverage.
With no homecourt advantage, lower-seeded teams have a better shot than ever before to upset in the first round. Lower seeds have really been taking advantage of this opportunity (at least out west). The Utah Jazz shocked the world with two straight wins against the Denver Nuggets with the second win being one of the largest blowouts in playoff history. Join us for a conversation on what the Jazz need to do to take advantage of the momentum they've built for themselves. We also discussed the NBA draft lottery and how that could cause the Western Conference to be even more competitive next year. The Timberwolves and Warriors got the first and second picks so they will both be in the playoff race next year.
Called Bank is a weekly podcast that goes over what's happening in the NBA and specifically with the Utah Jazz. Follow our podcast to join us next week for more playoff news.
The Utah Jazz had a rough first week in the bubble. But could that work to their advantage? Losing more games could lead to a 6th seed where the Jazz would play the Nuggets in the first round as opposed to the Rockets and potentially the Clippers in the second round instead of the Lakers. Join us for our weekly episode of the Called Bank Podcast as we review the past week for the Jazz and talk about what the future holds both short term and long term. This was a good one so you won't want to miss it.
The NBA is finally back! The Utah Jazz had the opportunity to play the first game back from the hiatus. Join us for a discussion on the Utah Jazz vs New Orleans Pelicans game. It was a good one where Rudy Gobert sealed the game from the free-throw line. There is a lot the Jazz should be excited about but there is definitely some rust that needs to be worked out. The Jazz tested out a more perimeter centric offensive gameplan which needs some work but in the end, the Jazz players put up more effort and showed more energy and that is why they ended up with the W.
If you enjoyed the podcast share with all of your Utah basketball friends. We post weekly and offer unique opinions on Utah Jazz basketball from two basketball fanatics. We're back! Join us for a discussion on which teams may benefit from the hiatus and how we think the Utah Jazz will do with their 8 game schedule before the playoffs.
Due to the NBA shut down (and Dale's Mic breaking) we will be taking a break. Please stay safe everyone🙏
Conley has been disappointing this season, but he has shown flashes of his Memphis self. Will Conley be able to elevate the Jazz from a good team to a great one? Only time will tell, but we all know that he has the potential to make it happen.
