On the FINAL EPISODE of Season 1, The Therapist in Training has a "can't call it therapy" session with Melinda regarding her own hopes of growth in the areas of mindset, motivation and creating new rhythms.
On today's episode, The Therapist in Training chats with Heather Hogan, a Manhattan-based Transformational Coach and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher whose goal is to enable clients to feel more grounded, less stressed and more equipped to handle life’s unexpected changes. Heather is also training to become a death doula. This role includes end of life planning,  sitting with the dying, rituals around death, dying and grieving, and supporting the loved ones of the dying. She believes that, "The daily awareness of death is not a burden to be shouldered only by the dying, it is an awareness that is a necessary ingredient for the living to live fully." Tune in as Heather shares about her own personal highs and lows during the pandemic.
Jake Ernst, MSW RSW is a social worker, psychotherapist and clinical director of StraightUp Health in Toronto, Ontario who says he "gets paid to listen well" and happens to love hearing others share their stories. This was a super fun interview for The Therapist in Training as she and Jake discuss the intersection of positive psychology and mental health professions, the importance of embracing a variety of therapy roles and modalities, an itty-bit of brain science and the fact that motivation and habit formation are NOT SO clear cut because (shocker) we are complex beings.

Today, Andrea chats candidly about her own struggle with a diagnosed anxiety disorder and what it looks like to manage her own mental health in the midst of the pandemic.
In today's episode, we are changing things up a bit!  The Therapist in Training interviews both Tom Marron and Shaun Gordon (who both live in the same town, but may not know it)! Tom is a chemist by trade with a photography hobby and an interest in social sciences who first introduced me to Charles' Duhigg book, The Power of Habit.  Shaun is the co-founder and Chief Visionary Officer at Kiss Books, although, if he had any other job he would be an inspirational speaker. They both chat with The Therapist in Training about habit loops, creating keystone habits and essentially beginning to change routines in order to embrace the life you always dreamed of having.
On this Monday's Mental Health Moment, The Therapist in Training interviews Matt Beres.  Matt is a husband, father & educator from Ohio.  His current role as a Wellness Coordinator helps to connect students with mental health resources and agencies throughout the district and surrounding areas.  Today, Matt chats about baking bread, best Spotify playlists and the awkwardness of attempting to find new ways of interacting with others in the midst of the pandemic.
