Happy Wednesday! This week we are talking about vulnerability within relationships. Vulnerability is such an important component in romantic, familial, and platonic relationships. Vulnerability can be tough and definitely something that takes practice to get more comfortable with! In this session we get vulnerable and talk about areas where we struggle with vulnerability and how we've worked through it, which we hope can be helpful for all of you on your journey to being more vulnerable. Enjoy and we will see ya'll in our next session!
Hey everyone! We are back with another episode of USTT. On today's episode we are talking about the importance of self forgiveness and giving yourself grace. This episode is important especially during the holidays because we can easily get so focused on giving to others and neglect ourselves. Take this episode as a reminder to be kind to yourself and make sure you are giving yourself some grace!
Hey ya'll! This week we are touching on the hot topic of cohabitation and the unapologetic ladies are split! Some of us are pro living with a partner prior to marriage and others are strongly against it (or at least not until after an engagement). In this session we explore both sides of the argument and things get a little spicy, but having discussions on differences happens in all relationships, so we encourage you to have the same discussion in your own relationships. What side of this argument are you on???
Thanks for listening and we'll see ya'll next week!
Hey Unapologetic People!! This week's topic is a tough one for sure and always a debated topic-Infidelity in a Relationship. As psychotherapists who often work with couples, infidelity is a common issue couples come into therapy with. We discuss our individual approaches when infidelity is occurring or has previously occurred in a relationship. We talk through the importance of honesty, forgiveness, and communication when moving through infidelity. It is so important for both partners to do the work! We hope this episode is helpful in moving through your own experiences or even allows you to reflect on how you have dealt with infidelity in the past.
Stay tuned for our next drop next Wednesday and don't forget to follow us on all socials @ustherapytalks.
Hi everyone! We are back with another session of USTT. With all of the sessions that we have released about relationships, talking about breakups just makes sense. Breakups can be super challenging and it's a topic that we all can relate to. We get into what the healing process can look like during a breakup and how it can be similar to the grieving process. Self-care is also important along the healing journey and therapy can be a great way to kickoff your new self care routine if you are recently getting out of a relationship. Make sure to share this session with friends or family who may need some comfort and support during this time!

The unapologetic ladies are back with our season 3 premiere! We hope you all are as excited as we are! As masters level and associate level therapists, we get asked about the therapy process often. In this session we talk about how we know, as therapists, when therapy is working for our clients such as increasing the client's level of self awareness and accountability. We also talk about how progress can look like from the client's point of view. Therapy is a unique and special process, so we hope that we can provide some insight to help you along in your therapy journey. Thanks for listening! ✨

As season 2 comes to an end we wanted to dive deep into the topic of communication. As psychotherapists, communication is one of the primary topics individuals, couples, and families come in needing help with. In this session, we talk about what healthy and unhealthy communication can look like and how each of us look at communication in our own relationships as minority women. We hope you have enjoyed, laughed, and learned with us on this season of The Unapologetic Series: Therapy Talks. Thank you for listening, stay unapologetic, and we’ll see ya’ll in season 3!!!!! ✨
There has always been so much trauma inflicted upon black and other minority communities. In recent years, particularly with media and social media, it seems as though we are constantly witnessing racial trauma. Consistently hearing about and seeing trauma in our everyday lives can add to the generational trauma of minorities and significantly impact our mental health. In this session we discuss how we each are personally dealing with and coping with the recent racial traumas in our society as minority women. We give some insight on how important it is to know your triggers and how crucial it can be to limit your media consumption during these hard times. You are not alone, please take care of yourselves and find safe spaces to talk openly about how all of this trauma may be impacting you. Stay tuned for our season 2 finale next week and as always-stay unapologetic.✨ Note: This session was recorded prior to the final verdict of the Derek Chauvin Trial for the Murder of George Floyd.
This week’s session is all about trust. What happens when trust is broken? Can it be rebuilt? The unapologetic ladies talk about what trust means to each one of us and what it takes to rebuild it in all types of relationships and to even ask the question-is it worth it? It’s so important to identify what your boundaries are when it comes to trust and how to make sure you are able to identify and work through any trust issues you have in order to move forward and have happy and healthy relationships. We hope this session inspires you to do some self reflection and have some unapologetic conversations of your own! ✨
Dating in this day and age can be a lil rough let’s be real! In this session we’re talking about what healthy dating looks like. Whether you are newly dating or in a relationship it’s important that you are engaging in the process in a way that works for you and making sure you are communicating your needs and creating space for your partner to do so as well. Expectations, boundaries, and figuring out what you want when you’re dating can sometimes result in some anxiety, but we got you! We hope you take away some gems and apply them to your own dating life. ✨
We've spent a lot of time discussing our own therapeutic and professional perspectives of what Individual Therapy is like, but what about Couples & Relationship Therapy? After all, we are therapist's trained in Marriage & Family Therapy! During this session we explore common things to expect in Couples Therapy in terms of what a therapist might expect of their client's, things that are addressed and explored in therapy, as well as common issues partners might come to therapy for including the breakdown of communication issues, types of abuse, infidelity, life transitions, uncovering unhealthy cycles and patterns within the relationship, etc. We also take the time to explain how Relationship Therapy isn't only for couples, but that it can be a place for any type of relationship including a friendship, family, or roommates and how it can be just as important for the relationship.
In this week’s session we’re talking emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is defined as the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions. We know expressing emotions can be difficult for some, and we talk about our own personal experiences in dealing with expressing our emotions. Emotional intelligence is an important skill for us to learn for ourselves and for our relationships. We hope you enjoy and start having your own unapologetic conversations on how you can increase your emotional intelligence! ✨
In this session the Unapologetic ladies discuss Self of the Therapist, which is how therapists recognize and deal with triggers when they come up in the therapy room with clients. Triggers can range from similar past traumas or just dealing with the same issues our clients are! Therapists are human too, so it’s important to recognize when something comes up for us and how to make sure we are taking care of ourselves! That leads us into a conversation about the importance of self-care and how burnout can be all too real! Enjoy! ✨
"Forgive and Forget" is a common phrase we often hear, but what does that really mean? What are we necessarily forgiving and what are we forgetting? During this session, we get to unpack the interesting and very relatable topic of Forgiveness. We have all been in a situation where we were hurt by someone else close to us and we've either had to make the tough decision to forgive the person to help release the hurt and resentment we've been holding onto, or to continue moving forward without it. In this session, you will hear us explain our own meaning of Forgiveness and what it looks like, and open up about our own tough experiences with Forgiveness and what it did for us. We also get the chance to explain the many benefits of Forgiveness work, what it looks like in therapy, and the stages of it to help break down the actual process.
