It is actually two separate and distinct spiritual practices. Voodoo is an actual practiced religion and Hoodoo, also known as root work, is a spiritual practice which deals more with the botanical side and other natural objects. Throughout time and across the world, the mention of shapeshifters has always been around. The concept of beings who are able to transform into animals is certainly nothing new. In the Native-American lore there exist such beings known as Skinwalkers. These malevolent creatures are known to have the ability to shapeshift at will into animals such as wolves, coyotes and foxes to simply name a few. Aside from shapeshifting they can also mimic voices and animal cries to lure their prey, they can take on human possession and are the cause of nightmares. How could an exorcism possibly get any worse? Well there's always that possibility of death. Exorcisms are dangerous because of the physical and/or mental extremes the victim undergoes. Sometimes that can consist of being tied down, beaten and starved. The situation can escalate and become violent rather quickly. The scariest part of it all is not so much the demons that are being casted out it's the people involved in the ritual. Father Gabriele Amorth was without doubt the most famous exorcist of the modern era. As he was both controversial and known as the Pope's Exorcist. He advocated for the necessity of exorcisms and by his account had performed over 100,000 of them. Throughout history witchcraft has always been perceived as an evil practice. It is an artform only practiced and/or performed by those who dwell in sin. Almost everyone has heard about the legend of Bloody Mary which can be summoned through your bathroom mirror. It a very popular "game" to play amongst children especially during sleep overs. Psychic attack is another name given to “negative” energy being directed towards and/or focused on you. It can take place on a physical, mental and emotional level. Are demons entirely evil? The answer to that question depends on your perspective as the concepts of "good and evil" are entirely man made. Lamashtu was once a Mesopotamian goddess who was later more well known as a child killing demon. Most mythologies are stories that come from the ancient world. As we continue to explore these tales, interestingly enough, we'll find that many of them cross over to other mythologies, cultures and religions. As we travel they are carried to new places where they are adopted, but there seems to be a parallel across the world with the mythology and stories of creation. At the basis of it all these tales are recounted to help us make sense of the world around us and to both explain and fill that spiritual side of us that so many of us can feel. Amaterasu is the Japanese goddess of the sun and is a prominent deity in the Shinto faith of Japan. Unicorns are magical mythical creatures that have fascinated mankind for centuries. To this day, it seems we are bombarded with unicorn imagery everywhere we go. Many of us today like to take pride in our sun sign and elect to identify with it. It's important, however, that we strive not to do that. Capricorn is certainly a sign that deals with transformation under hardships.
