In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby close up shop (hopefully temporarily) with a story picked by Charlie - the Cleveland torso murders! Similar in nature to the Bella in the Wych Elm story, the dozen murders that occurred during the 1930’s in Cleveland, Ohio would rock the town to its core and send many people into a frenzy during the investigation. It’s got (lack of) glory, it’s got mystery, it’s got allure, it’s got homeless people’s tents being burned down, and it’s got the potential of a politician's relative being the culprit. With wide open arms, and a little bit of a buzz, we welcome anyone and everyone to join us for the final episode of Cite Your Sources before our hiatus.

In this week’s episode, while Shelby and Charlie close out the show and prepare for an indefinite hiatus, they invite you to join them as the liquor is poured, the jokes start flying, and the secrets come out while diving into the tumultuous, horrific life of Richard Speck. A Chicagoland native, Richard Speck would eventually be forced to grow up in an abusive household following his fathers death, where he would suffer a traumatic brain injury. Years later, and thanks to an immense lack of good parenting, his life would spiral until he brutally assaulted, and robbed, a house filled with nurses. Tune in to hear all about it - and much more - in the second to last episode of the show before we take a break!

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby hit their 1 year anniversary with the show! They decided to take a break from the usual morbid topics to discuss a fad diet that’s been sweeping the nation for much longer than either of them imagined. Join us in a much more laid back, relaxed episode as the two lovely hosts boast about and bash the ketogenic diet and all of its alleged, and proven, benefits!

In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie try their best to maintain composure while discussing the illogical-ridden story of Willows Weep. The story involves a house in Indiana which is said to be haunted by ghosts, demons, evil spirits, shadow people, and a handful of other paranormal entities. Originally constructed in the 1800’s, the house has seen 7 deaths within its walls and even contains human remains beneath it. Paranormal investigator Dave Spinks had frequented the house, and spoken with the owner, before purchasing it himself. The stories about the house are questionable, for sure, but do you dare to travel to the location and see for yourself?

Who killed Elizabeth Short, aka the Black Dahlia? We can’t say for sure, but tune in to find out more! In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie pull the curtains away from one of America’s most gruesome unsolved murders, the case of Elizabeth Short, the “Black Dahlia.” Born and raised in Massachusetts in 1924, Elizabeth was one of 5 daughters of Cleo and Phoebe Short. With her father having abandoned the family, later found to be living in California, Elizabeth, her mother, and siblings would be left to fend for themselves. Soon after finding out her father was in California, she went to stay with him and wanted to become an actress. On her travels and adventures, she would cross paths with hundreds of people, would date many men, would become engaged, and would ultimately be on the run. Last seen on January 9, 1947, Elizabeth would be found again, chopped in two, on the morning of January 15, 1947. The investigation into her murder would yield hundreds of suspects, would reveal corrupt cops, and would end up going unsolved, even to this day. However, we have some interesting theories backed by strong support that the killer, or killers, are known.

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby have an absolute blast exploring the mystery behind the Loretto Chapel staircase. This was hands down the rowdiest episode they've recorded. According to legend, it was built in an architecturally, physically impossible manner consisting of no nails, no means of support, and with a species of wood no one can identify. After building the chapel, a staircase was missing from the main floor up to the choir hall. Not wanting to sacrifice any seating space and refusing to simply use a ladder, the Sisters prayed to St Joseph. On the 9th day of prayer, a mysterious man arrived and constructed one of the most magnificent staircases ever built. He left without payment or thanks, and nobody can figure out how it works, what it’s made of, or who did it…. or can they?

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby take on what may be their biggest topic ever - the lost empire of Atlantis. After scouring a plethora of sources and reading a handful of books, or trying to, they believe they may have finally obtained enough information to provide a good estimate on the potentially fabled civilization’s location. While there may not be any of the sensationalized futuristic technology, like depicted in the Disney movie, Atlantis was still a highly advanced civilization for the time period that it (may have) existed. Go no further than this episode to hear an abundance of theories, investigations, ideas, and irrefutable evidences which suggest that Atlantis did, in fact, exist.

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby close the book on Aum Shinrikyo, the cult responsible for the 1995 sarin gas attack in Tokyo. After receiving information of an impending police raid, Aum Shinrikyo sent 5 of its members out into Tokyo with the mission of causing a diversion so that attention would be drawn away from the cult. The diversion would end up causing several deaths, and up to thousands of injuries. Many members of Aum Shinrikyo were apprehended after the attack took place, with Shoko Asahara being executed in 2018.

In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie jump the international border once again to explore the life of Chizuo Matsumoto, the man who would become the leader of the infamous cult Aum Shinrikyo. Born blind and raised in an impoverished household, Chizuo would attend a special school for blind students where his inclination for violence and control would blossom and run rampant. Always longing for something more, Chizuo would get into proto-guruism, eventually creating Aum Shinsen no Kai and the Aum Corporation before finally changing the name to Aum Shinrikyo, and his name to Shoko Asahara.

In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie dive into America’s first mass murderer, Andrew Kehoe. Raised on a farm in Michigan, Kehoe would grow up to be adept at working with machinery and electricity. Though he and his wife were well liked by the neighbors, there was something dark and off-putting about Kehoe. Nobody consciously realized it until after it was far too late. After losing reelection as treasurer of the Bath Township School Board, Kehoe would go on to commit appalling acts of violence. He murdered his wife and bombed a newly constructed school in Bath, Michigan killing 38 people and injuring another 58.

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby explore the overtly interesting and wild life of Edward Arthur Wilson, known as Brother XII. An English native, Brother XII would move to British Columbia where he started the Aquarian Foundation. Through the foundation, Brother XII aimed to bring his vision to the world. But, there is a fiercely dark side rife with intolerance, control, abuse, anti-semitism, and theft lurking in the background.

In this week’s episode, Shelby and Charlie explore a mystery brought to them by a Patreon subscriber. The story of Bella in the Wych Elm is older than most of our grandparents and, unfortunately, will likely never be solved. In 1943, some teenagers were out poaching and bird-nesting when they happened upon a fully skeletonized corpse in Hagley. Upon notifying the police, a decades long investigation was conducted which chased down everly feasible, exhausting lead. It’s rumored that someone somewhere knows who the skeleton is, but that secret is likely buried with them.

In this week’s episode, Charlie and Shelby make a comeback with another black widow murder named Nannie Doss. Born into what would, under any circumstance, be considered a miserable household, Nannie found herself becoming irretrievably immersed in love novels and romance stories. Aspiring to find that “one true love”, her “perfect ending,” so to say, she would marry and kill several men before finally being caught. Why would she kill them, as well as a few others, you ask? Helm was always troublesome, even from a young age, but his life of misdeeds and rabble-rousing would eventually drive him out of Missouri to the new frontier. Along his travels, Boone would commit copious amounts of horrible deeds and evade law enforcement until he found himself in Montana.

In this weeks episode, Shelby and Charlie cover the most gruesome subject they've ever encountered: Gary Heidnik. Heidnik, who was one of several people used as the inspiration for the character Buffalo Bill, was nothing short of absolutely psychotic. He would abduct women, shackle them in his basement, and subject them to the most horrific forms of torture. This episode is not for the faint of heart.

The Basement: The True Crime Serial Killer Gary Heidnik
In this weeks episode, Charlie and Shelby get swept up in the first publicized alien abduction story involving Betty and Barney Hill. The HIlls claim to have been abducted in the 1960's while traveling back home from vacation. However, details and interviews conducted years later would suggest a storyline much more different than what they proclaim.
