We had the pleasure of interviewing charlieonnafriday over Zoom video! The 21-year-old singer-songwriter who bobs and weaves freely between alternative, pop, and country, got his start by cooking up genre-busting anthems in his Seattle basement, turning his high school dreams into an impressive reality in DIY terms. His certified platinum hits “After Hours” and “Enough” have certainly solidified him as one to watch. He’s also opened for heavy-hitters like Tate McRae, Macklemore, and Jesse Murph. After building anticipation with one banger after another, charlieonnafriday, who has amassed nearly 1 billion global streams with his string of irrepressible releases since 2022, unveils his anxiously-awaited debut album, WILD CHILD, out now via Island Records. The record showcases his immense growth as a songwriter, vocalist, performer, and formidable presence. This time around, he powers up irresistible pop hooks with his classic hip-hop bounce, and just the right amount of country swagger, making each record accessible to all music lovers, no matter their genre of choice. Earlier this month, he set the stage for WILD CHILD with the intoxicating single “Bottle Go Down” supplemented by its high seas yacht party music video (living his best life, of course). Across the album, he continues to amplify this energy and remains musically unpredictable at every turn—from the hypnotic “Warning Shot” to the hummable “When It Rains.”ABOUT CHARLIEONNAFRIDAY:Cooking up genre-busting anthems out of a cluttered and cramped Seattle basement, charlieonnafriday (a.k.a. Charlie Finch) unassumingly transformed a high school dream into an impressive reality in D.I.Y. fashion and on his own terms. As he scaled multiplatinum heights, gathered billions of streams, and performed to sold out crowds, he always clung tightly to what brought him to that point in the first place. He makes music with the indisputable integrity surrounded by “day one” friends—fondly known as his “onnafriday” clique. He initially lit up TikTok mid-Pandemic. Inking a deal with Island Records, he ignited the platinum-certified “After Hours” and platinum-certified “Enough.” In between, he collaborated with everyone from Lil Tjay to Bankrol Hayden. He also earned acclaim from Billboard, People, and many more. Renowned for unpredictable and undeniable shows, he performed to packed audiences on bills with the likes of Macklemore, Jessie Murph, and Tate McRae. However, everything just set the stage for more music to come in 2024.We want to hear from you! Interview with Capstan

Interview with Capstan

2024-10-1433:47

We had the pleasure of interviewing Capstan over Zoom video! To make a mosaic, tiny pieces interlock as a larger picture. In similar fashion, distinct elements coalesce as one in Capstan. The Florida quintet—Anthony Demario [vocals], Joe Mabry [guitar], Harrison Borman [guitar], Andrew “Boz” Bozymowski [bass, vocals], and Scott Fisher [drums]—merge metallic precision with pit-splitting hardcore grooves and the kind of hooks you can’t shake. After amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and many more, the group paint a definitive body of work on their aptly titled third full-length offering, The Mosaic [Fearless Records].  Since 2015, Capstan have progressed with each subsequent move. Following Seasonal Depression [2015] and  In The Wake of  Our Discord [2018], they made waves with their full-length debut, Restless Heart, Keep Running, in 2019. Among many standouts, “Stars Before The Sun” racked up over 5.1 million Spotify streams followed by “We’ll Always Have Paris” with 2.5 million Spotify streams. 2021 saw them level up again with Separate. Right out of the gate, KERRANG! rated it “4-out-of-5 stars” and proclaimed, “This is Capstan at full strength and it’s a second outing to be proud of.” They toured with the likes of Trash Boat, Doll Skin, Silverstein, and many more.  This time around, the boys opted to self-produce, engineer, and record what would become The Mosaic. At the same time, they collectively absorbed the spirit of a more optimistic season. As with any mosaic worth pondering, this one might just leave you uplifted. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Åsa Orbison over Zoom video!Originally from Stockholm, Sweden Åsa Orbison had a fondness for music at a young age, where she attended music school in Sweden. Into adulthood, she then transitioned into working in marketing, but later came to the realization that music was always something she ultimately gravitated to and wanted to pursue. Åsa decided to make the move to America when she found love with now husband Roy Orbison Jr! She came back to her musical roots when working together with her husband (whom she collaborated with on her new album). As a huge feat, Åsa received a platinum record award for singing backup vocals on her father-in-law, Roy Orbison’s ‘Unchained Melodies” in 2019. The “Blue Bayou” album is Åsa's first album and passion project, recorded at Roy Orbison Jr’s "Pretty Woman Studio", Nashville A Team member Wayne Moss’ “Cinderella Studio” and Jack Clement’s “The Cowboy Arms Hotel And Recording Spa”. We had the pleasure of interviewing Nina Nesbitt over Zoom video!Singer-songwriter and producer and multi-instrumentalist, Nina Nesbitt releases her new album, Mountain Music. From exceeding a billion streams to being championed by Taylor Swift and playing shows with everyone from Coldplay to Stevie Nicks, Nina’s career has taken her from highlight to highlight. Yet the release of her new album could well be the most significant moment to date. Not only is it a record that leans into an accomplished and engaging new sound, but it’s also the first release via her new independent label Apple Tree Records.Mountain Music is a record in which authenticity flows through every moment. Its impetus was a moment of crisis: Nina had become overwhelmed by the need to be always active on social media and realized it was a huge distraction from her songwriting. So instead, she paused and went back to basics. What emerged was a set of songs which were informed, in part by the two years she spent touring the States in support of her second studio album: the critically acclaimed The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change, and partly by the Americana and US folk music that she has always loved. Their narratives also became more personal than ever. She reflected on everything that has happened in her life: growing up in a small Scottish village, breaking into music while living in the bustle of London, and now looking back at all of her life experiences from her new home in the countryside. While it might sound strange that Nesbitt was drawn to the music of Appalachia, heard echoing through the vast, verdant mountain ranges of the eastern United States, it makes more sense when you consider how traditional Scottish ballads and hymns are threads in that rich tapestry.Speaking about the new album, Nina Nesbitt reveals, “’Mountain Music’ feels like the most authentic and honest piece of work I’ve created so far. I was inspired by a lot of the American folk music I grew up listening to, and revisiting it made me fall back in love with writing music again. I knew I wanted to take inspiration but to also write my own story. This album celebrates that small town girl, puts an arm around the big city twenty-something and looks back at the view with me now from the calm and the quiet. ‘Mountain Music’ held my hand through some of my hardest moments and I hope it can hold yours too.”The album’s organic, resonant feel also comes from a recording process which placed a sharper focus on the importance of live performances. Accompanied by a band of musicians, Peter Miles and Nina produced sessions at Middle Farm Studios in South Devon in the UK, with Peter completing the record with mixing and mastering. That sound is today further showcased as Nina shares the new Mountain Music Session performance of the album’s closing track, “Parachute,” a swaying, romantic ballad that also addresses her introvert tendencies. Accompanied by a five-piece band, Nina leads a song which steadily grows in stature from sparse piano into a dramatic crescendo of sound. She’s visibly lost within the moment, channeling her emotions into an affecting song which charts the self-doubt that she had prior to starting the album.Having recently enjoyed a big spotlight moment when she performed at Team Great Britain’s Homecoming show live on BBC One to over 2 million viewers, and having just completed a dream tour as special guest to Stevie Nicks earlier this year, Nina plans to hit the road next month for a UK headline tour. For a list of upcoming tour dates, please visit ninanesbittmusic.com.Stay tuned for more music and live dates, coming soon!We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Little Monarch over Zoom video!Plenty of Time gives listeners a look inside Little Monarch, the bedroom-pop disco-funk hybrid brainchild of Casey Kalmenson. Recorded in her home studio in Los Angeles, CA, the collection of 13 tracks strung together in between tours and life on the road range from simple moments to introspective homesick yearnings. Plenty of Time features latest single and opener “We Got That Feeling,” a funky and slick track about capturing those special moments with loved ones that make the rest of the world fade away and turn good times into timeless memories. Atmospheric track “It’s Like Music” describes the comforting feeling of listening to the ramblings of someone you adore. The cosmic self-love anthem “Sheesh” and radiant bass-driven single “Follow Your Majesty” both share a similar message of putting yourself first while celebrating your individuality. Elsewhere on the full-length is jaunty track “Bounce” that encourages you to go after what you want while “Same Old” bursts with warbly synths as Kalmenson speaks to being surrounded by the wrong kind of energy you need to be your best self. As Little Monarch, Kalmenson creates a truly unique listening experience, blending various elements into a cohesively contemporary yet retro sonic drive, and Plenty of Time is no exception to that.Recognized for her exceptional musical abilities, she has found viral success with hits including “No Matter What” and “Strike” which have quickly added to her over 41 million global streams and she has garnered praise from the likes of Wonderland, Ones To Watch, The Line of Best Fit, and Atwood Magazine among others. Her music can be heard in a variety of campaigns with brands such as Abercrombie & Fitch and Shiseido Cosmetics along with syncs for shows including Grey’s Anatomy, Love Is Blind, and Love At First Lie. She is also an integral member of Gracie Abrams' band and played a pivotal role in the highly acclaimed Taylor Swift The Era's Tour in 2023, showcasing her exceptional talent on a global stage. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond over Zoom video! Before Tony McGuinness was Tony McGuinness of Above & Beyond, he was another artist, another music industry professional, another man entirely, which is completely understandable. Because, for the Tony McGuinness who is finally releasing his debut album almost three decades after he recorded it, it was a whole other lifetime.‘Salt’ is the great lost solo project from the songwriter who would become the chief “male voice” lyricist in Above & Beyond (beloved favorites like “Sun & Moon,” “Thing Called Love,” “Northern Soul,” “Gratitude,” and more). Now, at last, in 2024, the fans, followers, and the fascinated can hear the DNA of that songwriting mastery. McGuinness wrote the heart of Salt’s nine tracks in a heady six-month burst between 1995 and 1996, the result of a classic ’90s whirlwind romance in London that was popping off with the explosion of club culture in the UK.This whirlwind romance became the inspiration behind “Biker Babe,” the first single from the forthcoming album. “She had a Triumph motorcycle T-shirt on,” says McGuinness. "And I just went twang on my guitar and sang: ‘biker babe, biker babe…’. And that's how that song came.”In “Biker Babe,” a sun-dappled Sixties strum with, let’s just say it, Noel Gallagher-shaped contours, Tony wrote a song where he and Shelley’s story was transposed onto characters in Twin Peaks. “Which is where the mention of The Roadhouse comes from," he says of a lovelorn confessional which, 28 years later, opens Salt, "and ran with that all the way through to the ending. I knew she was gonna have to go back to America because she had no visa, and she had a flat in America that she didn't want to lose.”Also on the “Biker Babe” single is “Babydoll White,” a title which fans may recognize in another form from McGuinness’s Deep House alias ‘Fingerprint.’ He had remixed the track as a deep house record and released it in 2020 on Anjunabeats; however, the song originated in a completely different form. “Babydoll White” features a guitar solo by co-producer and longtime collaborator Bob Bradley.‘Biker Babe’, and the entire “Salt” album is out now via Anjunabeats.  We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Sadye over Zoom video!Sadye was one of the winners of Optimism's "We Heart The Art" Contest! The contest shines a light on the creativity and innovation occurring onchain. Sadye minted her song Pretty Traumatized on Sound.xyz in January, which was her entry for Optimism's "We Heart The Art" contest.Inspired by her intense struggle with cancer, discovering self-worth, and dealing with toxic relationships, her lyrics are steeped in a sarcastic form of catharsis as she learns to love her literal, and figurative, scars; a theme beautifully juxtaposed by catchy, modern melodies and edgy pop production. Her music has received adds to coveted Spotify playlists including Obsessed, IT"S A BOP!, New Pop Picks, Night Pop and more as well as Apple's New in Alternative, Amazon's Breakthrough Pop, Girl Squad and Tidal's Future Sounds. Her latest single "Pretty Traumatized" is produced by regular collaborators Mike Green (Paramore, Sueco, Gwen Stefani, 5SOS, Paris Hilton) and Nico Stadi (Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo). The track is a bouncy, nostalgic, dark-pop anthem. Featuring airy keys punctuated by 80's synth stabs and driving 808's, Sadye delivers her signature tongue-in-cheek lyrics inspired by her real life story of recovery, reminding us that we can embrace our traumas and still look damn good doing it.Sadye transcends the limits of mainstream pop, challenging listeners and breathing new life into the genre with otherworldly mystique and uncompromising vision. From humble beginnings as a small town singer/songwriter, Sadye writes with depth and heart, often taking on unexpectedly dark and heavy themes. Inspired by her intense struggle with cancer, dealing with toxic relationships, and finally discovering her self-worth, her lyrics are steeped in a sarcastic form of catharsis as she learns to love her literal, and figurative, scars; a theme beautifully juxtaposed by catchy, modern melodies and edgy pop production, appealing to fans of Kim Petras and Charli XCX to Nine Inch Nails and The Weeknd.Boasting hundreds of thousands of streams, TV placements, and playlist covers, Sadye leans into her inconceivable “industry plant” aesthetic, challenging conventional notions of stardom, and prompting listeners to question the essence of celebrity. Intrigued by emerging technology, she boldly ventures into the web3 space, seamlessly bringing her cult into the future with exclusive digital rewards, proof of her commitment to standing out in a rapidly evolving music landscape. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing GHØSTKID over Zoom video!"The biggest problem that art has nowadays is that it doesn't hurt anymore," says GHØSTKID vocalist and agent provocateur Sebastian "Sushi" Biesler. "Especially here in Germany, people are so afraid to push boundaries, to make art that makes you think and feel."By fall 2021, with the world shutdown seemingly over, Sushi wasn't content to let his creative yen languish at home in Germany."Even though we had made it through COVID, I was missing being able to play live, to really function as a band," says Sushi. "It didn't feel real to me. I became distanced from the music." A six-week decampment to Los Angeles became the creative fuel for GHØSTKID's next steps.  The last vestiges of Hollywood sleaze, decaying glamour, personal temptation, and the still-vibrant creative vibes of the city became the frontman's "don't-look-before-you-leap" inspiration for the gestating HOLLYWOOD SUICIDE.The album is a perfect snapshot of an artist finding himself, crawling from his own personal wreckage against a crumbling, mythical Californian milieu. "That's why 'HOLLYWOOD SUICIDE' is the first track. If you really want to make it, you have to give a lot. You have to be willing to give up everything. It's kind of like suicide to the person that you've been when you become an artist."The matching, lush, and elaborate art adorning the album was created by Aly Wayne Gacy.We want to hear from you! Interview with Venues

Interview with Venues

2024-08-0842:07

We had the pleasure of interviewing VENUES over Zoom video! With their third album “Transience”, VENUES effortlessly pushes the boundaries of what is possible in modern metal. After two strong predecessors “Aspire” and “Solace”, oscillating somewhere between post-hardcore, alternative metal and metalcore, the Stuttgart-based band are finally tearing down all barriers, borders and walls. “Transience” unleashes an emotional cascade full of great melodies, visionary soundscapes, abysmal heaviness and visceral, unfiltered emotion. This is not just an album. This is catharsis. A medicine for a sick world. The antidote to dreariness, indifference and coldness. And yet it is anything but a given fact that VENUES are still standing. Old members left, corona hit hard; yet, from a long dark tunnel emerged a band that has somehow only grown bigger, stronger, more fearless through all the setbacks and catastrophes. “Since our last album, we’ve grown together enormously as a band,” confirms shouter Robin Baumann. Since 2019, he has been sharing the vocals with wonder voice Lela Gruber, who has given VENUES a huge boost and is easily one of the most versatile, strongest vocalists in modern metal – a voice like an axe for the frozen sea within us. “We all pulled together and can now talk openly about everything,” she says. “That has brought a whole new vibe to the band – not to mention that insane energy.”You can hear it, but you can feel it even more: The ten songs on “Transience” revolve around vanitas, farewells, new beginnings and the inevitability of change; they are emotional projectiles that hit home exactly where they hurt the most: right into our wounded hearts. Recorded in three creative and harmonious sessions with their long-time producer and confidante Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay) at Sawdust Recordings in Halle, the final act in their trilogy bears all the pain of a wounded world. VENUES don’t look away, don’t suppress anything, don’t sugarcoat. But they don’t give up on themselves and this world either and sing, scream and play against powerlessness. They live, they suffer, they love, they breathe; they don’t close their eyes to toxic relationships (“Unspoken Words”), they channel emotional baggage (“Godspeed, Goodbye”). But VENUES are at their most moving in their most intimate moments. When Robin Baumann addresses his mother’s cancer in “Braille”, for example, or when Lela sings about imprisonment in the depressing “Coming Home”. “I haven't yet managed to sing this song without crying,” she says quietly. This vulnerability, this unfiltered empathy leads to an incredibly intense, at times painstakingly honest album that draws on post-hardcore, alternative rock and electronic prisms. A healing thunderstorm, no less. “When I think back to my 16-year-old self, sitting sadly in his room and immersed in music, I realise what we are actually doing here and that we are this important band for some people today,” says singer Lela. They are: The bristling power of Bring Me The Horizon goes hand in hand with the symphonic arena demolition of In This Moment, infused with a very unique sound that has once and for all become an unmistakable brand on album three. “Transience” is a camera obscura, a prism composed of numerous dazzling facets and immortalised by a band at a new creative and musical peak. “Our last album was a pretty heavy metal record in response to our debut; this time we consciously wanted to be as open and multi-faceted as we are as individuals,” says Robin. “This album sounds the way we always wanted to sound.”VENUES are a metal band at heart, of course. Nevertheless, this has never been a band for those who prefer to think in drawers. For those who don’t want to miss out on great melodies or powerful breakdowns, in turn, they are: The band has been playing their way up step by step since 2015. First “Aspire”, then “Solace”, touring extensively for both records. Since the last album, VENUES have been on the road with Emil Bulls and Blind Channel and played in Wacken, and the first new songs were already released back in 2022. You can feel how hungry the band is right now, how eager to live out their momentum. It’s not the first time people have said this about this band, but: VENUES are just getting started. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Kobra Paige over Zoom video!Kobra Paige releases the title track “Like No Other” off her debut solo album Like No Other to be released on August 30th. The title track, co-written with Lizzy Hale (Halestorm) and Joe Hottinger (Halestorm) alongside producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Halestorm, Alice In Chains) showcases the depth and soul behind the creation of the entire album.“Like No Other” was later completed by Kobra at producer Brian Howe’s (Skillet, Daughtry, Linkin Park) Black Stove Studios in 2021 where the addition of Sitar was introduced. This paid tribute to a part of Kobra’s upbringing which involved many years of seva (service), with her family, at an ashram in southern India.Kobra says, “This song is the heartbeat of the album and the distillation of what, I believe to be, life’s journey. If I were to share my essence and experience of what I know about being human, in one song, this would be it. LNO speaks to the recognition of our mind, body, and spirit as the one ‘home’ we truly have in this lifetime. We are its sacred keeper and there’s no limit to the number of times we can rebuild or change its path.”Kobra shares, “As we move through this song, you will hear a sonic blend of worldly drums and Indian Sitar blended with the cozy Dobro and various acoustic and electric guitar layers. This is to express the beautiful paradox of our individuality in this world while simultaneously being plugged into the tapestry of a collective. The vocals are confident yet bare to the rawness of how lonely life can still feel, despite being surrounded by so many others. The ebb and flow of forward then backward motion, we experience all the time, is expressed and celebrated for the strength it takes to keep going through the adversities we face. In the pre-chorus, we have Fleetwood Mac-esque vocal layers, some company for a weary soul. Finally, the chorus holds the wisdom and the key. I speak of the very ancient wisdom of water and use its powerful metaphor as a beacon of remembrance to everyone. One of the most difficult parts of this life- journey is to surrender and cease resisting that which we can’t control. To flow like water is a great aspiration as it patiently shapes things over time, does not force itself, and yet moves powerfully when needed. Finally, a gift for us all. An important affirmation deeply rooted in ‘enoughness’ and truth. ‘I Am Like No Other’. You are the only one keeping you from yourself."Kobra Paige’s release of single’s has been the beginning of a new journey, all leading to the culmination, announcement and release of her forthcoming record. We had the pleasure of interviewing Mergui over Zoom video!Emerging singer-songwriter Mergui, made his debut appearance on NBC’s TODAY Show on May 21st, to perform his single "Happy Now?". This track is the second single from his sophomore EP, Shadows of Blue, out now on Virgin Music/Saban Music Partners.Produced by industry icons like the legendary David Foster(Madonna, Michael Jackson) and acclaimed singer-songwriter/producer K-KOV, Shadows of Blue presents a unique body of work that captures the myriad emotions of staying true to one's passion, despite the obstacles encountered. Mergui’s forthcoming EP delivers an intimate yet cinematic journey through the depths of human experience, drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as early 20th-century Italian opera and the nostalgic allure of '70s AM pop. Mergui skillfully intertwines these influences, infusing each piece with a contemporary twist that is both refreshing and compelling. The EP has already garnered attention across various Spotify playlists including New Pop Picks, Just Good Music, and Breakthrough Pop to name a few.Mergui's talent has been gaining significant recognition lately. He was featured in in People’s Talented 2024 Spring Emerging Artists, where they described his music as akin to "Paradise." The latest issue of Music Connection proclaimed Mergui a "crooner sure to be a big hit," and further showered praise upon their review of the EP, describing it as a collection of "beautifully written songs that tug at the heart's strings." Atwood Magazine further commended Mergui, declaring him “a brilliant singer whose voice manages to deepen the pain of the situation that the lyrics evoke.”Mergui truly stands out as an exceptional talent worthy of recognition! He is big overseas and comes from a musical family – his mom is a singer and his dad used to be a musician.Los Angeles Magazine hailed his current single “Happy Now?” as a “melodic, soul-stirring excavation on romantic heartbreak.” Earlier this year, Mergui released the Elton John approved single “Cry,” which he captivated audiences with a spellbinding, stripped-back rendition of on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Following the performance, the track climbed the U.S. iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts peaking at #10! Atwood Magazine praised the track as "a moving piano/guitar number that’s sure to tug at plenty of heartstrings," and Rolling Stone featured it in their esteemed 'Songs You Need To Know' list alongside industry heavyweights like Beyoncé and Camila Cabello.Mergui's journey is one marked by remarkable achievements, including opening for chart-toppers Bruno Mars and Maroon 5 to crowds of 65,000. We had the pleasure of interviewing Sam Tompkins over Zoom video!Highly acclaimed British singer-songwriter Sam Tompkins releases his eagerly anticipated debut album hi, my name is insecure via Republic Records. Also released today is his brand new single ‘almost killed me’.Listen to hi, my name is insecure HEREListen to ‘almost killed me’ HEREhi, my name is insecure is the sum of years of hard work from Sam as he builds his dream body of work, incorporating tracks which are already fan favorites alongside exciting new material. The album, out today, also sees Sam team up with writer Pablo Bowman (Calvin Harris, James Arthur, Jonas Brothers) as well as writer and producer Danny Casio (Little Mix, Joy Crookes, Tom Grennan, Rudimental). The album includes hit tracks ‘someone else’, ‘time will fly’, ‘see me’, ‘lose it all’, ‘phones in heaven’ and ‘numb’.The title of the album, hi, my name is insecure, speaks to Sam’s more introverted side as he explains, “I really like being in the company of my friends, but if you take me out of my comfort zone, and have me hang out at a party or an event or whatever, I just go inside myself and I find any excuse to get out of it.”The newly released single, ‘almost killed me’, delves into the turbulent and confused emotions of a break-up, with Sam’s raspy tones and pop-rock guitar riff bringing energy and grit to the tune. Produced by Matthew Koma (PINK/Britney Spears) and co-written by Caroline Pennell (Demi Lovato, Ava Max, Zara Larrson), speaking on the single Sam says: "Almost Killed Me is all about those times when you’ve finally got out of a difficult relationship and you can see it for what it truly was. whether bad, toxic or just not meant to be. Sometimes it’s the hope that kills you and that is what it’s about. You really think you can make it work sometimes, but when it’s over and you have time to sit with it, you can finally see the bigger picture. I love this song and am so excited for it to be heard!"If there’s one thing Sam wants his fans to take away from his live show, or from his music, it’s that a problem shared is a problem halved. Sam shares that “Whenever I talk about my problems in my songs, I feel like a weight has been lifted, because I know that I don't have to hide or be ashamed of that thing, and I want everyone else to feel that like there's nothing in this world that you might feel sad about that is shameful. In terms of mental health, there isn’t anything you ought to shy away from, you should always let people know if you’re struggling.”Since starting his musical journey at 16 years old busking on the streets of Brighton, Sam has gone on to sell out shows around the world and amass a dedicated and enraptured fanbase, cementing his reputation as one of the fastest-rising British male artists. He was hailed by the likes of GQ as “one of the UK's most exciting vocal talents of the moment”, CLASH’s “the man of the moment” and last year was nominated for Rolling Stone's Rising Star Award. He’s cultivated an incredible online community for millions to share their love of music and has received praise from high-profile artists including Drake, Fred again.., Justin Bieber, RAYE, Sam Smith and more. The future looks bright for Sam Tompkins as he looks ahead to supporting singer/songwriter Myles Smith on his North American tour throughout September and October, which sees Sam perform at sold-out shows across Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, West Hollywood, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Denver, Saint Louis, and Kansas City. Tickets are on sale HERE. Not only this, but later this year Sam will also be heading out on his biggest EU and UK headline tour. We had the pleasure of interviewing The Wild Things over Zoom video!Fast-rising UK quartet The Wild Things have released “Drunk Again”, the lead single from their sophomore LP Afterglow, set for release later in 2024. Co-produced by Pete Townshend, “Drunk Again” is the perfect soundtrack to a night out at the local dive and further cements The Wild Things as one of rock’s most exciting young acts.Anchored by a twangy lick from guitarist Rob Kendrick and vocalist Sydney Rae White’s powerful voice, “Drunk Again” is the latest punchy offering from a group with seemingly endless potential. The forthcoming Afterglow record will be an immersive choose-your-own-adventure concept record that tells the story of the residents of the fictional town of Valentine amidst a paranormal phenomenon.Already a critical favorite (they have been profiled by Kerrang! who declared them “your favorite new band”, Clash who said they are “blazing a trail across London, with their snappy, infectious live show,” and Rolling Stone who praised “their hook-laden riffs, tight melodies, and White’s stage presence”), “Drunk Again” demonstrates The Wild Things’ voracious appetite for power chords, sing-along choruses, and the gripping storytelling of their creative heroes (Pete Townshend, Spielberg, etc). They may sound straight out of the 70s, but The Wild Things are turning their amps up to 11 for a whole new generation of rock and roll fans.Having honed their live show with high-profile opening gigs for The Who (their first-ever US show was at Madison Square Garden) and KISS, “Drunk Again” builds on the momentum of their recent Friends With Benefits EP (which featured KISS’ Tommy Thayer). Recorded at Pete Townshend’s London studio, the track notably features the legendary guitarist playing a Lowrey Berkshire Deluxe TBO-1 organ - the very same instrument that appears on “Baba O’Riley”. At the end of the sessions, Townshend gifted the organ to the band…a symbolic passing of the torch from one generation to the next. It’s been a busy 2024 for The Wild Things, whose Friends With Benefits EP featured appearances by Townshend, KISS’ Tommy Thayer, and drag legend Trixie Mattel. In true Rock n Roll fashion, the band celebrated the release by performing atop a bus traveling down Hollywood Boulevard in LA, before taking the stage at The Bourbon Room in Hollywood for a high-octane free performance in front of their adoring stateside fans. The Wild Things are Sydney Rae White, Rob Kendrick, Pete Wheeler, and Cam White. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Skylar Simone over Zoom video! In the dynamic realm of music, Skylar Simone emerges as one to watch, blending raw authenticity with impeccable control to create a sound that resonates deeply with audiences worldwide. The daughter of an NFL player, Skylar grew up in multiple cities, creating a unique mix of cultural influences. Upon discovering her vocal talent and love for music at the age of 9, she began to hone her performing ability by singing the National Anthem at various stadiums across the country. Her tight-knit family ultimately moved to Los Angeles to support her dream of launching a successful music career. “I feel like I’m this veteran, even though I’m only 22 years old, because I’ve been out here hustling for over a decade,” Skylar reflects.Skylar's musical journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication and natural talent. From mastering the drums to sharpening her skills on the piano, her versatility defines a uniqueness that demands attention. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Minnie Riperton, as well as contemporary artists like SZA and RAYE, Skylar infuses her own unique flair into every note, crafting a signature sound that is emotionally rich.Skylar formed a clear bond with legendary producer Dernst "D'Mile" Emile II (Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, Victoria Monet), as evidenced on the title track of her upcoming Def Jam EP release. “Shiver” is a passionately honest song from a distinctly feminine perspective that captures the sweet chase and sensation of romantic touch. “Once my body shakes, you’ll know it’s time,”she expresses between pronounced, exasperated breaths before foreshadowing the feelings evoked by the single: “You’ll know what I like when I shiver"). Her work with D’Mile, which also includes “Shut Up,” leaves Skylar plenty of room to play with texture in clever ways, particularly when it comes to her vocal range, which encompasses a 4-octave kaleidoscope of tones. Having recently signed with Tunji Balogun and Def Jam Recordings, Skylar is ready to catapult into the next phase of her career with her new EP, Shiver, largely produced in the US, with moments bred in London with Scribz and Talay Riley (Kendrick Lamar, Doja Cat, 21 Savage, Khalid). The project serves as a testament to her artistic growth and evolution, and a musical re-introduction. Exploring themes of love of another and the self, and acting from a place of heartbreak and confidence—as well as finding the latter through the pain of the former—the project embodies the contrasts of human emotion, inviting listeners on a visceral journey of self-discovery. From the flashy, syncopated groove of "Permission" to the aching vulnerability of "Someone Who Cares," each track showcases Skylar's range and prowess as both a vocalist and a storyteller. In everything she touches, visually and sonically, sexy playfulness and buoyant youthful energy reign supreme.Throughout her career, authenticity and diligence have been Skylar's guiding principles. With lyrics that are equal parts blunt and sweet, she invites listeners into her world: one of self-confidence, acceptance, and motivation to move forward. She is poised to make a lasting impact on the world stage: “There’s this sense of freedom that only music can guide us toward,” Simone reflects.  It is here that the true power of her craft, and by extension her voice, blossom. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing The Scarlet Opera over Zoom video!Soaring higher than ever, buzzing Los Angeles band The Scarlet Opera takes flight on their anticipated new Mirror, Mirror EP out today via SB Projects / Republic Records—listen HERE. Mirror, Mirror celebrates the band’s dramatic vocals, magnetic melodies, and stadium-ready swagger. Among many highlights, new track “What Good Is Love” threads fret-burning guitar through otherworldly synths. Frontman Luka Bazulka’s jaw-dropping delivery resounds as he wonders, “What good is love?” Then, there’s new single “Slutty.” Over a bed of guitar and keys, the verses barely contain the track’s flirty fire, as Luka belts, “You make me so slutty.” Cinematic piano sets the tone for “God Damned Beautiful.” It trumpets an essential personal mantra, “The facts are the facts that I’m god damn beautiful.”  On the release of the EP, the band shares: “For better or for worse, this music ended up being a reflection of our trials and tribulations being a band the past few years—the complexities of falling sucker to industry hype men paralleled eerily well to the simultaneous love affairs happening behind the scenes. Mirror, Mirror will always be a poignant reminder for us to keep our circle tight, the romance in the ride and our joy protected, at all costs. More music, sooner.”The Scarlet Opera recently teased Mirror, Mirror with their single “Someone’s Gotta Love ‘Em.” On “Someone’s Gotta Love ‘Em,” epic guitars resound, cinematic strings soar, and Bazulka emanates the kind of starpower and charisma that comes along once in a generation. The catchy chorus proves instantly chantable as he sets the scene, “I met a bird last night she was drunk at a bar, she said let me introduce you to my friend he’s a star.” Met with critical acclaim, Melodic Magazine hailed, “The single is articulate and theatrical with a splash of rock – a perfect way to welcome summer and an exciting and lively addition to the bands’ setlist.”It followed the fiery “Catch Me If You Can,” which beyond picking up steam at DSPs, has earned widespread praise. Popdust dubbed it a “captivating, high energy track that kicks off their new era with a bang,” and The Honey Pop proclaimed, “It’s your dose of rock-and-roll combined with a mixture of badass lyricism, an intoxicating chorus, and a whole lot of infectious melodies.”Not to mention, they recently wrapped their headlining Catch Me If You Can Tour. Speaking to their standout live performance, RIFF Magazine applauded, “A little bit Queen and a little bit Journey, the band had a cinematic sound with the flair of a Broadway show.” Pit Crew Media noted, “Between their iconic look, over-the-top stage-presence, and quality sound, The Scarlet Opera put on an incredible performance that left fans wanting more,” while The Concert Chronicles praised their live show as “a performance that was nothing short of electrifying.”Last year, the band released their empowering single “That Kind Of Woman” and beloved debut Comedy EP, which features breakout songs “The Place To Be,” “Big City Thing,” “Alive,” and “Riot.” Amassing millions of streams to date, Comedy landed acclaim courtesy of Rolling Stone, Flaunt, LADYGUNN, Jezebel, Just Jared, Queerty, and more, with HITS Daily Double proclaiming, “The Scarlet Opera blends classic arena pomp rock, neon-bright ’80s pop and more than a dash of Broadway-style virtuosity into an infectious, gender-blending cocktail that its burgeoning fan base finds utterly intoxicating.” Not to mention, the band received a nomination for “Breakthrough Music Artist” at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards.ABOUT THE SCARLET OPERA:Fusing the grandeur of the theatre with the raw energy of rock and roll, The Scarlet Opera – a five piece band hailing from Los Angeles – offers an escape into the throes of love, lust, glamour, and passion. Formed as ‘Perta’ in 2016 and reborn in 2022, The Scarlet Opera is led by lyricist and frontman Luka Bazulka, whose authentic narrative and vocal prowess are matched only by the musical talents of band members Colin Kenrick [keyboard], Daniel Zuker [bass], Justin Siegal [drums], and Chance Taylor [guitar]. The band’s origins are tied to one fateful night when Colin, upon witnessing Luka perform an inspiring solo vocal set, enlisted longtime friends and seasoned musicians Daniel, Chance, and Justin to provide a new dimension to what was already brimming with potential. Word of packed venues and a captivating live show soon drew the attention of SB Projects and Republic Records, who turned to hit songwriter and producer David Stewart [BTS, Jonas Brothers] to collaborate, inspire, and further ignite an already growing fire. During 2023, the group took flight with their debut Comedy EP uplifted to soaring heights by breakout singles “Alive” and “Riot.” In its wake, they made their late-night television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden and launched a successful tour earmarked by one sold out gig after another, with Jezebel hailing their live show as “a spectacle of Queen-inspired proportions.” Along the way, they incited further critical praise from Rolling Stone, Flaunt, HITS Daily Double, Popdust, LADYGUNN, and The Honey Pop, who applauded them as “one of our favorite bands.” After receiving a nomination for “Breakthrough Music Artist” at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards and headlining a tour across the country this past spring, The Scarlet Opera now level up again with the dramatic and dynamic Mirror, Mirror EP, including the singles “Catch Me If You Can” and “Someone’s Gotta Love ‘Em.”We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Letdown. over Zoom video!Alt-rock sensation Letdown. returns with yet another captivating and irresistibly catchy track. The Chicago/Nashville-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has unleashed his latest hit-you-in-the-feels single, “Raincoat”, released via Big Loud Rock. The song is the latest offering from Letdown.’s much-anticipated debut album due out later this year. Introduced by a simple percussive beat and the electric twang of a plucked guitar, “Raincoat” storms onto the scene as an anthemic storytelling of roller coaster relationships. Featuring bold, pointed lyrics such as, ‘Apologize a thousand times a week now,’ the track gains momentum, steadily evolving into a punk-infused crescendo. Driven by punchy drums, the song is underscored by the roaring of a crowd begging the question, “What did I do this time?”.When asked about the inspiration behind the song, Letdown. revealed that it explores "the bittersweet dance of two individuals trapped in a relationship they both yearn to escape. 'Raincoat' encapsulates the torment of a relationship riddled with apologies yet devoid of solutions, exploring the intricate dynamics of remaining in a situation neither party truly enjoys. It vividly portrays the struggles and contradictions inherent in toxic relationships."The new tune follows the success of Letdown.’s last single, "Hate Myself," which is currently making waves on Alternative Radio as the #1 Most Added Track its first week at the format and climbing to #32 on the Mediabase Alternative chart where it currently sits. This is his second impressive showing at radio with earlier hit, "Crying In The Shower," peaking inside the Top 20 at U.S. Alternative Radio.Letdown. expanded his global audience significantly last year through tours across Europe and the U.S., along with captivating performances at festivals such as Summerfest, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock. Letdown. will be hitting the road this summer performing on the Idobi Radio Summer School tour alongside Stand Atlantic, Magnolia Park, The Home Team, Scene Queen, and Honey Revenge.ABOUT LETDOWN.Letdown. (period included) may have started as a pandemic project for Blake Coddington, but the Chicago/Nashville-based rocker is in a very different place in 2023. Having spent the last three years cultivating a fervent fan base through a number of single releases and emerging as a striking live act — finally bringing his music into the physical lives of his online fans across several sold-out, headlining shows this past year — Coddington is rapidly growing his presence away from the internet for the first time in Letdown.’s short history. The powerful vocals and emotional lyrics over catchy, upbeat drums and guitars originally served as a cathartic way for the songwriter to express himself while working a dead-end job that he hated. But 2022 saw Letdown. being signed to Big Loud Rock and moving beyond his beginnings as a viral, at-home musician. This year, however, represents a whole new start for the vocalist, or as Coddington himself puts it: “It’s Season II of Letdown., and it’s definitely the biggest chapter yet.”It was just three years ago that he began throwing videos on YouTube expecting to get a few hundred views, yet now he’s become a known and respected musical commodity both in-person and online with over 660K followers and 5.5M likes on TikTok, 47+ million views on his YouTube channel, over 100+ million overall artist streams and editorial playlisting from the likes of Spotify’s All New Rock, New Noise, Rock Out and Rock Hard.Chronicling Coddington’s internal struggle as he searches for answers in times of darkness, uncertainty and self-doubt, his 2023 EP Crying In The Shower features a collection of stadium-sized singles led by the title track that is the perfect example of the wild, emotional ride that Letdown. enjoys taking his fans on. Behind the reactive hook and catchy rhythm, Letdown. navigates listeners through the experience and inner turmoil of trying to get over someone you can’t forget. With the release of the EP, Coddington remains thrilled for the development of Letdown. as well as having the opportunity to connect with those who have found solace in his powerful online community. We want to hear from you!
