We all have that friend who's always suggesting, "let's take pictures" at the hang-outs, proposing a photoshoot at every function, holding their camera up to take candids, and immediately asking you to send whatever photos you took to them either via AirDrop or the group chat. I'm that friend. Today we're talking about how I got into photography and why I print my photos. We need to talk about my obsession with cameras.
Season 4 Episode 2
Self control is a fruit of the Spirit, and every time I get asked an invasive question is an opportunity for me to exercise that virtue. I've now become a master at handling inappropriate, stupid, and disrespectful questions. Here are some of the ways I stay unbothered, and some tips on how you can handle these questions, too. We need to talk about remaining unbothered when folks ask invasive questions.

In this episode, I talk about why I quit my job, how my mindset on quitting changed, and what I hope they learn from me quitting. I also talk about how God gave me this job, the season when it was a blessing, and how I could tell the well was running dry (aka when it wasn’t a such blessing anymore). These lessons I learned can be applied across the board: at your job (whether you're a supervisor, boss, or regular worker bee employee), situationships, in friendships, family relationships (this one is important) and anywhere else you need them. We need to talk about expressing needs, showing appreciation, and quitting at the right time. By the way, after I quit that job, my time opened up for more meaningful activities like connecting with friends ✨IN PERSON✨ and working on artistic projects (like my podcast)! When you say no to what isn’t working, you make room for more blessings.
📖 Bible verses I referenced & the full verse (you can look them up for full context) 📖

People belittling you so you don’t recognize how much you’re actually benefitting them by being there - Genesis 30 & 31
Live at peace with everyone so far as it depends on you - Romans 12:17 & 2 Corinthians 8:21
🎶 Songs that ran through my head as I recorded this (that are very on-theme) 🎶
Rise - the McClain Sisters
Break my soul - Beyonce
Breaking Point - Keri Hilson

Guess who's back? In this episode, I catch up with y'all & chat about a topic many of us avoid... rest! Did you know there were 7 types of rest? This episode discusses what the types of rest are, what it feels like when you've rested that way, and some examples of how to experience that rest. Remember, if you don't give your body a break, your body will take one for you (and it's never at a convenient time)! Take care of yourself. Thank you to #PassionPlanner (@passionplanner) for inspiring & sponsoring this episode!

A lot of us avoid talking about this and acknowledging this. Friendship breakups can be traumatic, self-care is self-preservation, and the approval you are waiting for can only come from yourself.
Not only was this episode inspired by real life conversations, but The Friendzone Podcast's “The Grief Episode” was posted the week before this episode dropped; perfect timing. https://open.spotify.com/episode/7jJnRTu7cq3KeptEPxim36?si=72077454ca854002

This week's guest, Mark Jones, aka MJ, shares insight on physical therapy, his relationship with God, and how food choices are connected to the meaning of life. There's a sprinkle of sports analogies, Latin, and the perfect spot to watch the sunrise in California It's not every day you get to hear from someone who learned how to walk twice (& who features on TMZ at times... but he doesn't want me to talk about that so shhhhh)! This week, I'm joined by an incredible guest, Windel. During our conversation, he shares his favourite foods, how to build your cooking repertoire after moving out, what to do when you’re bored of your own cooking, and his decision not to turn his hobby into a side-hustle. It's not every day you get cooking advice from a culinary school star student! What’s the name of that Moldovan cake? We need to talk about cravings & culinary school.

On Thursday's episode, "Planting & Planning Ahead", Makhulu shared the lessons gardening has taught her. Today she's back with some more insight, namely, the story of her first experiences with planting as a hobby. For context, she grew up in South Africa during apartheid. It wasn't common for African people to have hobbies cause, you know, oppression is pretty draining. Listen to the story of how her secret hobby brightened the world of her family, and how she still uses gardening to plant seeds of joy in her community today.
This week, I'm joined by an incredible guest-of-honour, Makhulu (my grandmother), calling in from South Africa. During our conversation, she shares the joys of planting, the secrets to a flourishing garden (and relationships), and the importance of preparing for the future. It's not every day you get expert gardening advice from someone awarded by the South African Government's head of Agriculture! We need to talk about planting and planning ahead.
