Do you workout consistently but don’t see the toned, defined look you hope for? A lot of hygienists come to me looking to build muscle which is a great goal but, in talking with them, I see most often they are doing all the wrong things. In order to build muscle, we need to rest so that our muscles have time to repair and grow. If you are working out 6 days a week, you are doing way too much and hindering the results you could have. More is not better when it comes to building muscle! Not to mention that working out too much increases muscle soreness as well as the risk of injury. Listen in to hear why REST will skyrocket your results. In today’s episode I am sharing my client Rachael’s transformation. Rahael shares that because of her neck, shoulder, trap, and upper back pain, it was a struggle to get through her day. After work she would come home and just want to lay down in bed. She was too exhausted to cook dinner or play with her daughter. She actually had taken 3 months off of work completely due to her chronic neck pain and because of this, she knew she needed to do something for herself. Since working with me, her pain has lessened and she now has way MORE ENERGY to do things after work, like give her daughter a bath <3 Tune in to hear her story now. Ep 43 Why HIIT is SHIT

Ep 43 Why HIIT is SHIT

2024-04-1909:04

We’ve all heard of high intensity interval training. The name says it all-high intensity is the exact opposite of what hygienists that are dealing with pain and muscle imbalances need. You muscles, bones, joints, connective tissues are misaligned. High impact workouts are extremely hard on your joints and only do more damage! Hygienists need LOW IMPACT, slow and controlled movements..not to just burn a bunch of calories. So listen in to hear why HIIT is not beneficial for your body and your career and what to do instead!   Additional Resources:   Join the FB Community->Fitness Tips for Dental Hygienists | Facebook Get your freebies-> Builtbybrianne.com Instagram -> @built_by_brianne

Hey teeth lover,   In today’s episode I am sharing my client Jennifer’s transformation. Jennifer was 8 years into hygiene and suffered from neck pain, back pain, and upper trap pain.  She felt like she was always hunched over and would come home from work just feeling crappy. Having two small kids, she felt like she wasn’t able to be the mom she wanted to be. Fast forward to now, she feels AMAZING and like a whole new person. She can get through her day and not have pain, she isn’t crabby or snappy with her husband, and she was able to play badminton with her son after work. Jennifer is proof that when you put in the time to work to benefit your body and fix your imbalances, your life will be changed. Hey teeth lover,    Do you feel like your back is weak? Have you been told you need to “strengthen your back?” I hear this a lot. The truth is this..we need to understand WHY your back is weak. Not all of the muscles in your back are weak. In fact, there are muscles in your back that aren’t weak- they are overactive. One muscle in particular actually affects your upper body pain and often contributes to shoulder pain. You can’t just go do a bunch of rows to try and strengthen. The body doesn’t work like this. So listen in to learn what muscles in the back are weak and how to fix this! Hey teeth lover,  Do you workout consistently but still experience pain? Hygienists tell me daily that they workout to: prevent injury, have longevity in their career, and overall in their daily life. However, I find that hygienists aren’t doing the appropriate workouts to actually support these goals. If you workout regularly and still have pain, this is a major red flag that what you have been doing is not benefiting you. You need to train smart, not hard. So listen in if you want to learn the one simple hack every hygienist needs to know to workout to be PAIN-FREE! P.S. Hey teeth lover,   Today I am chatting with a guest expert who is not only an RDH, she is a stress management coach for other RDHs. Having gone through burnout herself, she talks about the hidden signs that she overlooked, or thought were “normal”. While I am an expert in fitness for RDHs, I am not an expert on the mental health challenges that come with practicing clinically. I am passionate about helping RDHs live their best lives but if our mental state is not good, there’s no point to even think about focusing on our physical health. So listen to hear her advice and what to look out for in your own life! Hey teeth lover,   In today’s episode I am sharing my client Tara’s mind blowing transformation. Tara was in rough shape when I met her, from having pain from her career to having open heart surgery and going right back to clinical work, she was miserable. She was spending $800 a month on chiro not to mention time and energy with no luck. Her goal was to be able to get through her work week and not only did she accomplish that, she has no pain, more energy, can pick up extra shifts..AND do activities at home like cooking or walking her dog with her boyfriend. Tara is proof that when you get to the root of your pain and fix your imbalances, you can get rid of pain and live a happy life. Hey teeth lover,   I often have hygienists asking me how I got started working with dental hygienists and I’ve never shared the real story before. About 4 years ago when I started my business I didn’t feel aligned. See to me fitness is so much more than being fit-it’s about preventing pain, injury, disease, and being able to move freely. So I knew I needed to pivot. Being a woman of faith, I decided to start 2022 fresh and asked for guidance from the Lord. He showed me the path to take so that I could be a vessel to serve others with the gifts that he gave me. My entire business is founded on faith and it is all thanks to Him. This is His business, not mine. Wherever this business takes me, I trust and owe it all to Him + Stay Strong, Brianne Additional Resources:   Join the FB Community: Fitness Tips for Dental Hygienists | Facebook   Get your freebies-> Builtbybrianne.com   Instagram -> @built_by_brianne
Hey teeth lover,   Is your goal to get rid of  pain and prevent injury? Then you MUST include this piece of the puzzle! While fixing your imbalances and building muscle is key to having a strong healthy body, there is more to it. We can build muscle all day but if we don’t have MOBILITY, we don’t have a strong foundation. Having good mobility equals healthy joints which is the foundation for everything. So by having good mobility, we have an optimal range of motion which allows us to recruit more muscle fibers during our workouts which allows us to build more muscle. Win win. Listen in to learn how we can improve our mobility to prevent injury. Hey teeth lover,   Today I am talking about a hot topic in dentistry and that is ergonomics. While this is an extremely important topic, it is simply a piece of the puzzle. Whether you have perfect ergonomics or you need to work on yours, the truth is that you can’t out ergonomic muscle imbalances! You can buy the fancy loupes, instruments, and saddle stools, etc. but if you aren’t strengthening the right muscles, your body won’t be able to sustain these neutral positions!! Strengthening and ergonomics go hand in hand just like brushing and flossing. Listen in to learn more about strengthening to help with your ergonomics. Hey teeth lover,   Are you a Hygienist that wants to get stronger? Today’s episode I am going over why strength is not actually what is most important when it comes to having longevity in your career. What you actually need is to BUILD MUSCLE– more specifically the underactive muscles. Strengthening and building muscle are actually two different things. Anyone can get stronger, but building muscle is a science and must be done methodically in order to be effective. So if you are a hygienist that wants to have longevity in your career, listen in to learn how to build that muscle!!  Stay Strong, Brianne Additional Resources:   Join the FB Community: Fitness Tips for Dental Hygienists | Facebook   Get your freebies-> Builtbybrianne.com   Instagram -> @built_by_brianne
Hey teeth lover,   In today’s episode I am sharing my client Courtney’s transformation. Courtney has been in the dental field for 20 years and was feeling it to say the least. She had a hard time taking a deep breath and her husband would have to crack her back every night. She started practicing 5 days a week then went down to 4 days, then to 3 days. Like many hygienists, she tried all- massage, chiro, acupuncture, yoga, and nothing helped. Fast forward to today and she is completely free of pain. She even went back to working 5 days a week!!! Listen in to hear her amazing transformation. Hey teeth lover,   Do you want to be pain free to have your strongest, healthiest year yet? Well if you do you are going to have to focus on one thing. This one thing is why I have clients getting out of pain, picking up second jobs temping, and feeling like their life has been changed. After working with thousands of clients I know what it takes to build a balanced body that is free of pain (an injury). In this episode I am diving into the method that I use with my clients and why they are able to enjoy their life in and outside of the OP. Listen in now to hear what this one thing is! Hey teeth lover,   Today I’m diving into how to build muscle and actually see results from your workouts. While exercise selection is important- there are more important factors that are overlooked. The way you perform the exercises, meaning your form and technique is the MOST important factor and extremely overlooked. Just like you don’t want your patients brushing or flossing aggressively- there's a right and wrong way to do things. Today I am sharing the 3 most important factors to pay attention to when it comes to building muscle. Want to train with purpose instead of going through the motions? Then this episode is for you!   Hey teeth lovers,   Stay Strong, Brianne Additional Resources:   Join the FB Community: Fitness Tips for Dental Hygienists | Facebook   Get your freebies-> Builtbybrianne.com   Instagram -> @built_by_brianne
Hey teeth lovers, Today I’m talking about why the secret to long term pain relief is in the POSTERIOR chain. More specifically: exactly what muscles should we be working in the posterior chain? Well it’s not as simple as doing some rows and pulls and all our pain problems will magically be solved. If this were the case then hygienists that exercise regularly wouldn’t still be suffering with pain. Since hygienists have  both underactive and overactive muscles in the posterior, we need to make sure that we are strategic with implementing the appropriate exercises while avoiding others at the same time. So grab a pen and paper and let’s get your learn on!   Stay Strong, Brianne Additional Resources:   Join the FB Community: Fitness Tips for Dental Hygienists | Facebook   Get your freebies-> Builtbybrianne.com   Instagram -> @built_by_brianne
