There are lessons in the locusts AND the alarms. In our text, Israel was experiencing the devastating consequences of sin, and God wasn't simply trying to punish them; He was sounding the alarm to wake them up and bring them back to Himself. In Joel 2:12–13 and 28, Joel's message from God's message doesn't stop with repentance; He promises restoration and then makes an incredible promise: “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh” (Joel 2:28). God doesn't just want to make our circumstances better; He wants to transform our hearts, restore what sin has damaged, and fill us with His presence. The alarm is not God's attempt to push us away; it is His mercy calling us to wake up, return to Him, and become people through whom His Spirit can work. This sermon was recorded on Oct 11, 2026. Our scripture reading from Obadiah this morning condemns Edom for celebrating the demise of Israel, a betrayal rooted in the ancient sibling rivalry between Jacob and Esau. Instead of helping their brother nation, Esau’s descendants, not only stood aloof, but actively rejoiced and profited from their ruin. This passage warns us that reveling in an enemy's failure is a dangerous, infectious form of cruelty that ultimately invites the divine judgment of God on ourselves.  Scripture Reading: Obadiah 1:10-15 This sermon was recorded on Oct 4, 2026. Have you ever wondered if your life really matters? We often search for purpose in our accomplishments, future plans, or others' expectations. But what if our purpose isn't about becoming someone important, but about joining something bigger than ourselves? In Exodus 31:1–11, God calls Bezalel and Oholiab—two skilled craftsmen—to use their gifts to build the tabernacle. They weren't kings or prophets, but God equipped them to make a lasting contribution to His work. Their story reminds us that God has given each of us unique abilities and opportunities to serve Him. Today, we will discover that "purpose" isn't about making our own story bigger; it’s about joining God's story and using what He has placed in our hands to make a difference. When we belong to Christ, we also belong to each other.  That’s what makes our spiritual family so important.  We have a connection that transcends all other relationships.  But with that connection comes some hard work, efforting together to create an environment where we mutually show love and compassion for one another, where we dig deeper into God’s word to teach each other, where we worship God together, and where our actions reveal to the world that we do indeed belong to God and each other. When Jesus arrived on the scene, something amazing happened. It was a transitional period where the spiritual God arrived in a physical Being. Hebrews 1:3 emphasizes that the whole essence of God was found in the character and heart of Jesus. Grace and Truth were put on display, an exactness for us to use as a pattern of God’s goodness. But perhaps the greatest blessing in all of this, was the invitation to be a part of His forever family. Notice in our scripture reading this morning that there is room for all who believe and receive. John 1:1-13 This sermon was recorded on Sep 13, 2026.
