Inositol's are sugar alcohols belonging to the vitamin B complex group, with nine variants, but the most significant for PCOS are myoinositol and D-chiro-inositol. They can positively influence menstrual cycle regularity, carbohydrate metabolism, and symptoms of hyperandrogenism. By improving insulin sensitivity, inositol's can lead to better management of hormonal, metabolic, and oxidative abnormalities associated with PCOS. This means potential improvements in ovulation, facial hair, fertility rates, mood, weight management, and acne. Additionally, inositol's have been linked to decreased rates of gestational diabetes in women with PCOS.
