Can the energy transition lead to more blackouts? How must solar systems interact with other energy sources in the power grid? And is more international cooperation needed? The CEO of an energy utility explains the systemic interdependencies – and what we as a society must do now. Cédric Christmann has been CEO of Primeo Energie since 2023. The company, headquartered in Münchenstein, canton of Basel-Landschaft, Switzerland, is a strong advocate for the energy transition – both regionally and internationally. Before becoming CEO, Cédric served as CFO and led the energy business of the cooperative. A dual citizen of Switzerland and France, he and his family live within the company’s supply area. With around 700 employees, Primeo Energie drives transformation across four business areas: electricity, grid operations, heat, and renewable energy – from production and trading to distribution and customer supply.

Avant d’occuper la fonction de CEO, Cédric a dirigé les finances et le développement de l’activité énergétique au sein de cette coopérative. Franco-suisse, il habite avec sa famille dans la zone d’approvisionnement de Primeo Energie. Primeo Energie emploie environ 700 collaboratrices et collaborateurs répartis sur quatre domaines clés : électricité, réseaux, chaleur et énergies renouvelables – couvrant toute la chaîne de valeur, de la production à la fourniture client.
