Today on The Modern Homeschool Podcast, let's chat about goals for moms! How do you incorporate time for yourself and your goals while mothering and homeschooling? Well, good news, there are ways. Listen in for all of my thoughts on this subject I've been living through the past 15 years.
Ideas for Cultivating Goals:
Carve out an hour a day: Start with an hour a day for yourself. Workout, read, journal, get.a coffee. The hour you give yourself can be the beginning of reaching your goals.
Wake up early: If you have no other time in the day or if you are a busy mom of young children, you may have to get up early and go to bed early. Prioritize sleep and don't burn the candle at both ends by staying up too late. Get up and claim your quiet time for your goals.
Listen to Podcasts/Youtube: While you walk or do dishes or whatever you do during the day, double time your effort by listening to a podcast or youtube video about something you are interested in. This can be a great source of extra education and fitting in moving the needle toward your goals.
Prioritize health: We are nothing without our health so prioritize sleep, eating well and working out. Your future self will thank you.
Create goals: Either yearly or quarterly and track them and refine them.
Be aware of seasons: Sometimes you feel stuck in a season of your life. But most times we are really just in a short season that we may even miss when it is over. Allow yourself slow and fast times in life realizing that some seasons last longer than others and all seasons teach us.
Practice gratitude: Reset your day by naming three things you are thankful for and watch your day completely shift.
Allow yourself to change: It is quite probable that you will evolve many times over as you age. Understand that change is okay and allow yourself to become who you were meant to be. Often, we have to change to reach our goals.
Never give up: Never, ever give up because you are most likely closer to your goals than you think.

Today on The Modern Homeschool Podcast, I'm chatting all about how to plan and carry-out large homeschool projects. In this episode, I will give you some easy tips on how you can create studies, science, geography and art projects like a pro with your kids.
Large Homeschool Project Checklist:
Pre-planning: Gather information and brainstorm a loose timeline for the project or unit study in mind. (Usually 4-6wks)
Planning/Brainstorming with the kids: Talk with your kids about the project and take them to gather materials, supplies and good research if necessary.
Work: Allow kids focused 'project' time in which they can devote a solid amount of time and effort to working on their project in an open-ended way.
Polish & Present: Allow the kids to critique and better their own work, advise if they ask for help. Encourage them to present the material in a fun way. Maybe over dinner or with friends?

Today on The Modern Homeschool Podcast, let's chat about what to do when winter burnout of the homeschool year sets in. Take a few action steps to help reset your homeschool when you are feeling unmotivated, burned out or just plain tired. Gather new inspiration and ideas from this episode.
-Tidy & Declutter: Change your environment by getting rid of unused items and get organized. Get out of a winter rut by doing a deep clean and reset on your home.
-Set New Goals: Think about how you want to finish your homeschool year on a high note. What will it take to reach your goal? Be realistic about your abilities. Check my planning episode for help below.
-Read: A new book for yourself. Something you've been interested in but couldn't find the time. Start a new reading habit for yourself for just 15-20 minutes a day.
-Focus on Fitness: Not obsessively. Incorporate healthy food options and walking. Add in more if you are up for it, if not, just start small. Small habits daily add up to results over time.
-School Indoors to Outdoors: Move from the indoor traditional schooling to outdoor field trips, projects and schooling as the weather gets better. Plan a few Spring field trips to look forward to.
-Consider outsourcing subjects that are causing resistance in your homeschool.
-Consider ditching curricula that is not working for your child or family.
