Luke Likes 'Not Really Into This'Yeah, I'm not really into a lot of things, and when you say you are not into, you are not into something, you don't really like doing that, and you are not a fan, a fan. So let's find out, find out more about that.Board games, board games. Yeah why not, why not, I am into board games, but I must say not a very very good player. Especially when it comes to chess. Wait, that's a board game right? Yeah, so I am into playing chess but need to get better, definitely better. Sure it is a lot of fun when a lot of people can join in, so do it together, join in.Cars. Oh, that's so funny, that is so funny. Okay, I am told, so my parents tell me, I am told that when I was a child, I was so so into cars, and I would cry, cry a lot if a book didn't have a picture of a car, or the story was not about cars. Yeah, and now, when I think of cars, I think, 'oh my goodness, what now, what do I have to repair now?' Oh, yeah, but alright, to be honest, overall, I don't mind, I don't mind, which means I am okay with that, I am okay with cars.Oh, pets, pets. Oh, obviously I am such a huge fan, I am a huge fan of cats, and dogs, and fish, and pigs, and horses, and mice, and giraffes, and squirrels, and tigers, and spiders, and birds, and... Okay, I think you know what I mean.Gardening, gardening. Well, I am into gardening, but how to put it, how to put it, let's say, gardening is not really into me,because the plants just hate me, hate me, and whatever I do, whatever I try, it all ends the same way, meaning not good, not good for plants. But I don't give up, I don't give up. Fashion and clothes. Well, I am a little bit into fashion, because I do choose clothes, the ones that I wear, but I don't follow, I don't follow fashion trends that much. But obviously I appreciate, I appreciate when somebody has a good sense, good sense of style. Yeah, let's leave it at that. Oh, interior design, interior design. So the way our houses and flats and buildings are designed and arranged, arranged. And yeah, I think I am a little bit into that as well. I think I don't know much about that, but certainly, certainly I am impressed, impressed when I see something new and interesting and I also can appreciate that. Oh, and then I want to have it, and that's a problem.Cooking, cooking. Oh, okay, the thing is this, I am not a food person, I am not a food person, but I am trying, I am trying, and cooking is not really my thing, it is not my thing, but on the other hand, on the other hand, I want to be better at that, and there are people around me that really want to help me with it. So I just need to follow, follow their lead, follow their lead, so basically listen to what they tell me, and just do it. But now, yeah, really, not my thing, it is not my thing now. I mean, yet.New technologies, new technologies. Oh my. Well, I think I am into this, well, who isn't, who isn't? I guess you have to be right now, and obviously it's very practical to take advantage of what there is out there, what there is out there. Take advantage, so use it, use it. So yes, I am, yes, I am, but I am not a huge fan, like some people are.Are you into this stuff, are you into this kind of stuff? I can tell, I can tell what you really are into. I am sure, and I really, really hope you are, and this is really your thing, because we are both huge fans, we are both huge fans.Yeah, that's right, it's languages, languages. Just crazy about them.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Be Bored'I have a little free time right now, so what can I do? Why don't we go to the cinema? Why don't we go to the cinema and watch a movie? How about that? Nope? not a good idea? How about this? We stay at home and watch something at our place. What do you say? Nope? you don't like that? You don't like that?Alright, how about this? We go on social media and watch videos. You can't say no, you can't say no to that. Oh, come on. So you don't want to go and watch a movie at the cinema. Then you are telling me you don't want to watch anything at home. And even, you don't even want to watch a video on social media. Are you saying that we are not going to watch anything and just sit like that in silence? Is it really possible to do that? Oh, come on. Let's just at least put on some music. We cannot just sit like that in silence, can we? Why? Oh, I don't know why. It is just weird. It is strange. It is weird, strange. We don't do that, but I don't know why. But still, we don't, we don't. Or, maybe?Okay, here is my final idea. Tonight, let's not watch anything. And let's not listen to anything either. Let's not do that either. Let's not read, listen, scroll on your phone. Let's not talk. And let's not move. Let's not move either.Let's not go out. Let's just stay in. Let's not think about tomorrow. And let's not plan anything. Also, let's not worry about yesterday. Let's not go out and run. And let's not go out and go to the gym. No, let's not do that either. Oh, oh, oh, and let's not text. Let's not text our friends. Let's not do that.Let's not clean. Let's not paint. Let's not go out and do some shopping. Let's not be active. Let's not work, of course. Come on, this is free time.Oh, oh, oh, let's not go online. And let's not do online shopping. Let's not think what we are going to do on holiday. Let's not plan the dinner and what we need to buy to make it.So, what then? I have a little free time right now and I choose not to do anything. Can I really do that? Please? This is really harder than you think and I don't think we really do that anymore, or we can do that. And what I realized, realized is that I can't really do that myself, can you? Okay, so this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to put away my phone. Put away. I'm going to switch off the music. Switch off the TV. I'm going to sit down and not read. I'm not going to snack on anything. Snack or move too much.Just sit and relax and say to myself, 'hmm, this is quite uncomfortable'. I don't know why but I really, really, really feel uncomfortable right now because I feel like I should be doing something and I'm not. And this is so weird that I don't really remember last time I did that, but at the same time I feel okay with that. What is this feeling? I can't really remember what it feels like. Am I getting sick or something? Right now I would like to look it up, look it up and find out more about it but I don't have my phone around. Wait! No, it can't be true. No way!Wait! Am I getting bored? Yes, I am. And you know what? I like it.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Excited'How are you feeling today? Hope everything is alright. And me? Well, I am feeling excited today. Because the weekend is coming. The weekend is coming and I'm feeling excited. Very excited about the weekend.I can't say why really, because nothing exciting is going to happen. Nothing exciting, but the weekend itself, weekend itself is pretty exciting. And I can do a lot of stuff that usually I do not have a lot of time for, like rest, having some rest. Yeah, we all need that.So now I am feeling excited. And at the end of the weekend, on Sunday evening, on Sunday evening, I think I will feel a little worried. I think you know why, I think you know why. I will feel a little worried, because the new week might be a little difficult. And it is a little worrying, worrying. And what else, what else am I feeling? I must say I am feeling a little tired, but not so much. But that was a long, long week so it was quite tiring, tiring. A lot of things to do, a lot of things to do. As usual.Well, I know I am also a little annoyed, annoyed, so a little angry and irritated, irritated, so annoyed, because of the weather. Yeah, it is very annoying when you have some free time and you cannot go out and do some sports, for example. Yeah, it is annoying and irritating, irritating. Yeah, well, it is what it is, it is what it is. I am not going to get depressed, depressed about that. But the weather might be a little depressing. Oh God, it is still summer time, it is still summer time. Anyway, anyway, I will also say I am not shocked by this bad weather. I am not shocked. The clouds, the rain, it's not really shocking to me. It isn't, it is not shocking at all.In fact, in fact, I am a little surprised actually. I am a little surprised because the temperature is not that bad, is not that low. So the temperature is quite surprising. It is still 20 degrees Celsius. So a little surprising that I am sure that a lot of people are not satisfied, are not satisfied with that. Yeah, those conditions, weather conditions are not satisfying.Okay, so what am I going to do at the weekend? I hope I can find something interesting to do, interesting to do. Let me think, I am interested, interested in languages of course. So I will study some languages. I am interested in sports, so I will do some interesting sports. And we will see. I am sure that I will not be bored, I will not be bored. But if I am, I have to say I am okay with that. I am okay with that.I just need some time to sit back, sit back and relax a little. And you know what? You should do it too, you should do it too. So sit back, relax and tell me, are you interested? Or are you confused because it is all confusing? Are you tired? Fascinated? Maybe you are worried? Maybe it is all annoying to you and you are feeling annoyed?I hope you are not too bored, too bored with that. And oh gosh, please don't say you are disappointed, disappointed. Enjoy the weekend!Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Peace And Quiet'Oh, free time, finally, finally, some free time. Ah, but imagine this, imagine you are lying in bed and you are at a hospital. How fun is that? How fun is that? Not really, not really. Well, we all know that. But, you do want to get better, so you need to stay there, for some time, some time.I'm sure you are very worried, worried about your health and what is going to happen. That's okay. And I'm sure you will get better eventually. And in the meantime, in the meantime, you can use this time. Hmm, is that three time, really? When you are in hospital? I wouldn't say that. But still, it is very, very different and you don't need to go anywhere. Well, you can't go anywhere. So, in that case, in that case, so in this situation, in that case, you can do quite a lot, quite a lot to keep yourself busy and hopefully, hopefully, so I hope, hopefully, make your stay a little fun.Hmm, let me think. So what can you do? What can you do? Hey, what did you do at a hospital? Well, I slept finally. I could sleep all day long, all day long. Yeah, you can do that, obviously. You need to sleep. Well, I need to sleep too. Oh my.Or, let's go to oldschool here, oldschool. How about reading a book, reading a book or a magazine? How about that? If not, obviously, you can watch a series, a movie, a video, a tiktok. Yeah, lots, lots of tiktoks. Okay, that is pretty obvious. And me, for example, I would spend a lot of time listening to podcasts. Maybe finding some new ones, finding some new ones or catching up on, catching up on the old ones, so, listening to the ones that I didn't have time to listen to before. Yeah. Free time. You have all the free time in the world right now.You could also talk to your friends on the phone, so call your friends and family to catch up. Again, catch up, because you didn't have time to do that before. So now that you are at a hospital, why don't you do it now? Hey, how have you been? How have you been? What's up? How's the family and the dog? Yeah, do that. If not, maybe a game. Yeah, let's find you a game of Sudoku. Oh, a crossword puzzle, crossword puzzle. Hmm, maybe in English. Oh, speaking of languages. No excuses right now. No excuses. You have all the time in the world to do some learning, to do some studying. Yeah, you might think you were a little behind, so you didn't do enough work. So now is the best time to do that. Yeah, at a hospital, exactly. And then do some shopping, online shopping. Oh yeah, that's a fun activity. Maybe some clothes or something for the house. Yeah, plan how to redecorate your house. How about that? Yeah, not a bad idea, actually. Not a bad idea.Okay, what else? Hmm, okay, maybe limit the social media for some time. And hey, you are into painting, right? So you like it, you like it, you like painting, you are into painting, or drawing. I think that's possible in a hospital bed, is it?You could also try and find a nice tutorial. So a little video to help you learn something new about painting, but maybe some other cool stuff, like playing an instrument. Well, you will not learn that at a hospital, but that's a nice start, that's a nice start. You will take up, take up something new. So start doing something new that you might like. Who knows, maybe this is something that you always wanted to do, like photography or gardening, DIY, like making new furniture by yourself.Or maybe finally you just want to have some peace and quiet, have some rest.Get some rest, and you will get better in no time.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Listen'Hey, do you know what I realized? What I realized just now Well, that pretty much all the time, okay, not all the time, most of the time, so pretty much most of the time, every day, during the day, in the morning, in the evening I listen to stuff. I use my headphones for that. Oh, it depends, it depends, so whatever the situation is, it depends.Anyway, I listen to a lot of, a lot of stuff. Now, this is mostly podcasts in different languages. And different reasons so why I listen to them, reasons, but it used to be, it used to be a little different because that used to be mostly music.Yeah, I realized that it changed a little. And I am wondering if this is because of me, because I changed or because, well, the situation changed and the times changed as well. But whatever the reason, whatever it is, I still like music. Come on, who doesn't?And today, for example, I just remember it how much fun it is. How much fun it is to listen to some music you enjoy and, and, and this is really, really fun to explore, explore new music. I just love this feeling when you can find something totally, completely new. And you can't get enough of that. You just keep coming back and listen to that over and over again.I used to do that a lot when I was a teenager and later on in my life. And I remember back then, back then, I didn't need much more than that.Really, just me and my music. That was it. And now, okay, I don't want to say that. I don't have enough time for music. That just..., no, I will not say that. Now I just choose to listen to podcasts more than music. And when do I listen to music? Well, definitely when I do sports. I put on my earbuds and off we go. It makes the experience much, much more enjoyable this way. Enjoyable, so a lot of fun, enjoyable. Well, and I do not need to say that it gives a lot of energy. And I feel more motivated, motivated, yes, I do have motivation to keep going, just keep going. And obviously, this is more of an energetic upbeat, energetic upbeat, so quite fast music.Which, by the way, I do not listen to, I do not listen to when I'm not doing sports. So my playlist, so the list of music I listen to is a little misleading, misleading. So when you say that something is misleading, it gives you a wrong impression, misleading. Because this is just a part of me, and we could say just a part of me that needs this kind of music. Rock music, for example, not so much pop music.Otherwise, so if it isn't this or that, otherwise, it is much, much calmer. And my family used to say melancholic, that's a cool word, melancholic. Well, that's just sad music, let's say, sad. Not sad, but just feeling sad, in a way, in a way. And what is the best way to sound like that, to sound melancholic? Yeah, that's the piano, that's the piano, beautiful, beautiful sound. So this is what I'm going to do tonight, just me and my music.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'I Like It'So again, again - Do I want to do it? Do I want to do it? Or do I like? Do I like doing it? Want to/Like. Obviously, I like doing it. We will see. Let's go.I like studying languages. I like studying, studying languages. And I love studying languages. And I enjoy studying languages. All of that. No surprises here. So, I like studying, I love studying, and I enjoy studying languages. Well, I enjoy doing other things too. And I love other things too, like I love playing with my dog. Yeah, let's leave it at that. But also, I hate doing a lot of things. Oh, the list can be very long here. I hate doing paperwork. I hate doing paperwork. It means I hate doing all the office work and documents, things like that. And I can't stand, I can't stand. Oh, I know. I can't stand waking up early morning. I can't stand doing that. Yuck. And I prefer, I prefer waking up a little later. So, I hate doing paperwork. I can't stand waking up early. And I prefer waking up a little later. But still, in the morning. Well, I'm a hater here. Whatever. And now, I started. I started learning. I started learning a new language. Portuguese. So great. And I stopped, I stopped worrying. I stopped worrying about everything. That's not true. Yeah, I would like that. And I spend, I spend too much time. I spend too much time... Sometimes I spend too much time deciding, deciding what to buy. So I spend too much time deciding what to buy. Actually, I do. I hate this. So, I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying too much. And I spend too much time deciding what to buy.Just three more to go, okay? Three more. Oh, I'm not very good. I'm not very good at, I'm not very good at playing tennis. I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. I keep playing. I keep playing regularly. Yeah, I don't give up. I just keep playing. And how about, how about, or what about? So, oh, how about playing tennis today? How about playing tennis today? What do you think? What do you think? How about, how about playing? Yeah, sounds good. Sounds really, really good. So, I'm not very good at playing. But I keep doing that. How about playing with me today? How about playing with me?Okay, so time for a recap. I like studying and I enjoy studying and I love studying languages. But I hate doing paperwork and I can't stand waking up in the morning, early morning, and I prefer waking up a little later. And now I started learning a new language. I stopped worrying, worrying too much. And, oh, I spend too much time deciding what to buy.And finally, I'm not very good at playing tennis. But I keep doing that. So, how about joining me? How about playing with me? And maybe teaching, teaching how to be better at that?Well, I have to say, I have to say, it's really not the point. I'm just having lots of, lots of fun. Have fun learning new things.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Good For Your Body'Summer time. Summer time is great. That's a great, great time. And it is even better when you get to have some free time for yourself. Well, not everyone can have it, unfortunately. But still, still, it is an awesome, fantastic time. How do you spend that time? I'm sure you are travelling, get to know new places, and get to do new things. Oh, that's nice - try and experience, experience. So in English, when you say you experience new things, you, well, you just do them, maybe for the first time, and you will remember what it is like to do it and try it. Pretty cool. Good for you, good for you.And me? Well, I have my sports. Yeah! So if someone asked you, 'what would you do if you had some free time? What would you do then?' Would you meet your friends? Maybe. Would you travel? Yeah, definitely. Would you get some rest and watch something? Maybe go out and see people. Yeah, all of them are great ideas. I'm sure. But me? I do sports. Well, and languages. I am crazy about that too. Today, for example, I got to play basketball. About two hours, two hours, outdoors, and that was amazing. I felt really good. Now I feel tired, but at the same time, I feel happy because this is what I get from basketball. And I used to, used to play volleyball as well, volleyball. It is not very popular in every part of the world, but some countries play volleyball a lot, quite a lot. And this is a lot of fun. Yeah, I used to play on a team at school, but I had to choose between basketball and volleyball. That was just too much. But then I also played with my friends, very regularly, regularly. Oh, wow, that's a difficult word to say in English. Rregularly. So I did, and I still would like to do that. What else? I need to tell you that all my family is a little crazy about sport. So they are all runners. For example, my younger brother and my older sister are right now actually at a runners' camp in the mountains. Imagine that! And they get to run pretty much all the time, I suppose. But from what they tell me, this is a morning practice and an evening practice. And in between, there are some sessions, meetings and workshops, so the time when they instruct them, how to get better at the technique, technique. And believe me or not, there is a lot of technique involved, involved, so about it. yeah, involved, a lot of technique.Yeah, and my older brother used to swim a lot. He used to be a swimmer, and he took part, he took part in competitions, sports competitions, at school, at school, obviously. And he rides a bike a lot, he runs as well. Like my father, my mum is also very active, and my cousins, all of them. So it is very natural, natural for me to do sports.Oh, and obviously I love tennis. It is just amazing. And at the same time, very frustrating, frustrating. Do you know this feeling, to feel frustrated? I'm sure you do. When something doesn't go your way, you feel frustrated. This is what tennis gives me a lot. But from time to time, it is also fun.Hmm, what else, what else? Walking is a great sport. Well, maybe not a sport, but a great, great activity. And going to the gym. Oh, a lot of people do that. Yeah, and I do that myself. I quite like it, but it is more of a routine for me. Yeah, and there is a lot, a lot, a lot more sports. Ooh, windsurfing, cool. Football, hmm, yeah, why not? Oh, handball, that's a team sport, handball. Oh, and yoga. Yeah, this is so, so good for your body.Hmm, like all the sports. Do sport. Good for your body.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Maniac'It's summer time. It is summer at last. Well, not at last, but it's the middle of July right now. The middle of, the middle of July. So it must be summer, it must be summer time, at least in this part of the world, in this part of the world, of course. And here is a question: What is summer best for? What is summer best for? Is it best for holidays? Yeah, sure it is, but not that. Is it best because you have a lot of rest? Yeah, a little bit, yeah, but not that. Oh, I know, I know. It is best because you get plenty of sun. Yeah, we do like the sun, but no, it's not that.It is best because you get to do, so you have a chance to do. you get to do whatever you like, whatever you like. This is at least how I see it, so this is my opinion, I think so. I see it this way. And to be honest, I see it every year with me. And I ask myself, what do I like? And I like languages. You just must know it by now. But what I noticed, so I saw it, I noticed, is that somewhere around summertime, every year, I get this new energy to listen, read, talk, and explore so that I can't get enough of that, I cannot get enough. Oh, I love this feeling. Especially when I get to explore something new. And surprise, surprise, not a surprise for me, this happens regularly, I must say. So here is what happened actually. So the other day, the other day, which in English means not long time ago, a few days ago, so the other day, I was talking to one of my students and her family lives in Portugal. And very often, actually, we were wondering, 'Hmm, how do you say this in Portuguese?' Or 'Hmm, what is this in Portuguese?' 'How do you say that in Portuguese?'I think you know what happened next. Aha, Portuguese happened. Now I want to know everything about it. To read, to listen, to understand, to be able to say a few words, a few sentences. To know 'What is this in Portuguese?', 'What is that in Portuguese?'And the fact that we can do that together makes it so much fun and much, much easier. So we use some materials, apps and obviously podcasts, which is an amazing help. So we focus, focus on listening and, well, trying to figure out, which means to understand, try and understand, to figure out what it really means and how it really works.Yeah. And you know what? I have no idea where this is going. I have no idea. And people often keep asking me, so ask me a lot, a lot, keep asking me, in general about languages, but for example, Portuguese, 'Hey, Luke, you're learning Portuguese, right? Why are you doing that? Do you want to go there?' Hmm, maybe. But I'm not planning to. 'Maybe you want to work there?' Hmm, not really. I'm not thinking of that at the moment. 'So why on earth would you do that? Why on earth would you learn it?'And I don't really know what to say and how to react because the answer is so obvious to me. The goal is not to go there or to work there or even to be able to speak fluently, fluently, so speak very well. I realized, I realized that the goal is something different.Learning and exploring. That is the goal. That is the goal. And why? For one thing, it makes me happy, but it is also because I'm obsessed. And I'm a maniac. And I love it.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Want It'So, do I want, do I want to do it? Do I want it? Do I want to do it or do I like doing it, doing it? Want to. Like. Hmm, good question, a good question. Let's have a go. So, I want to, I want to, I want to, oh I know, I want to get some sun today, I want to get some sun. And I am trying to, I am trying to get some sun, I am trying to spend some time outside, I am trying to, to, I am trying to spend some time outside. But I have to, I need to, I have to, I have to, I have to, I have to work, I have to work, So, I want to get some sun, I am trying to spend some time outside, but I have to, or I need to, I need to work. Alright, are you with me? Are you with me? I hope you are. And now, I decided, I decided to, I decided to take a break, I decided to take a break. Because I would like to, I'd like to, I would like to, well, eat something, have something to eat. And I hope to, I hope to do it by the end of my break, yeah, I hope to. So, I decided to take a break, because I would like to have something to eat, and I hope to do it before the end of the break. And now, it is not easy, it's not easy to rest, it's not easy to, it's not easy to rest, you know, because of the dog, the dog. I asked him to, I asked him to, I asked him to be quiet, be quiet, I asked him to be quiet and I told him, I told him to, well, I told him to try and understand me. I'm not really sure if that worked. And finally, I get the impression, I get the impression that my life used to be, used to be easier, used to, used to be easier. So, it's not easy to work, it's not easy to work, and I asked my dog to be quiet, and I told him to, told him to understand me just a little, and my life used to, used to be easier, much easier. So, are you with me on that? Are you following, are you following what I am trying to, trying to say here? Because I'm doing all of that, all of that to help you, to help you understand, understand. So, just to recap, so say all again, to recap:I want to get some sun, and I'm trying to stay outside, but I have to work. And then, I decided to take a break, because I would like to have something to eat, and I hope to finish before the end of the break. And it's not easy, not easy to do, because of the dog. I asked him to be quiet, and I told him to understand me. I don't know if it worked. And now I think, yeah, life used to, used to be easier. Yeah, so that's all I had to say. That's all I had to say about that. But to be continued. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. We will see. Get well soon.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Injured'It is a good day today, it is sunny, it's a really beautiful weather, and even better was yesterday. A great day, a great day for sports, outdoors. I love it, very, very hot, but still, that's just perfect weather for me to do sports outside. And so I did, so I did. And what happened? Well, an injury happened, injury. Do you know what it is? An injury, get injured. It happens when you do something to your body, by accident usually, when you fall down, for example, or you make a sudden, a quick, sudden movement. And that's what happened to me. But let me tell you all about it from the beginning, from the beginning. So, I couldn't wait for the great weather to come, and so it did yesterday, and well, I was so excited to play tennis, to play tennis, but at the same time, I felt that my arm, my right arm, wasn't feeling very well. I didn't know what it was, but something was wrong with it, something was wrong. I was not injured at the time, but I was not one hundred percent, I can say, I was not, but still, so excited that nothing could stop me, nothing. And now I'm injured. Yeah, I felt it just after I finished playing. It was a pain in my elbow, and it was getting worse and worse, so that at night, I actually woke up at night, and had to move it a little bit, move my arm a little, because it hurt so much. And the next day, I felt that it is really bad, it is really bad. If you look at it, you can't say that something is wrong with it, but when I want to lift things, so lift, pick up heavy objects, for example, when I want to lift something, I cannot do that. And even the smallest things. So that's an elbow injury, I suppose, and it's definitely, definitely, because of playing too much with my right hand, that's how I do that. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm also worried that I will need some treatment, treatment, and rehab after that. But for now, for now, this is just pain killers, that's how I start, and hmm, well, googling a lot, googling elbows and arms, connected to tennis. And surprise, surprise! It's a very common thing, it's very common, common, that means very popular, and it happens quite often when you play tennis. So I'm trying to manage the pain with painkillers, and we'll wait, but then, if that doesn't work, I might need to see a doctor, and probably they will run some tests, which is okay, I'm fine with that. But, well, the worst thing, the worst thing that can happen is that I will not be able to play, I will need to pause, I will need to have a break from sports and tennis, especially. I hate that, I hate that, I really don't want to do that, So I'm really hoping that my arm will heal nicely. When I say heal, it means that it will get better, heal. I must say that when I was a little younger, it used, it used to heal quite fast and nicely. Now it takes a little more time. I don't get injured that much, so I think it's quite normal, it happens. It's one of those things, one of those things that happen from time to time. So the plan is that I will wait and see, I will wait and see. If nothing happens, if nothing happens, well, I might start learning to play with my left hand, why not. Left-handed player, a lefty. They are very cool, by the way. I wanna be cool.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Sophisticated'Hey, it's Sunday today, it is Sunday again, welcome Sunday, and still windy, still windy. I can't catch a break, I can't, it is just non-stop, non-stop. Also for some reason it is a little difficult to focus today. No idea why. Maybe because of the wind, because of the wind.So it is hard to focus and that's just too bad, too bad because I do want to be sophisticated and complex today. Maybe not be, but just sound like that, sound. So, complicated, to make complicated sentences, to have complicated ideas, to sound sophisticated. And I love this word 'sophisticated'. I know a lot about a lot of interesting, important things. I'm sophisticated. So let's not be simple, let's be complex and sophisticated, But how, how? Easy. That's an easy way, that's an easy way. It will make you sound sophisticated. Quite simple. That's an easy way WHICH makes you sound sophisticated. Much better, much much much more complex and sophisticated. Yeah, we can go on and on like that, At least I will try, because still not very focused, I'm not very focused today, WHICH is not very easy. Which, which is, which is not very easy. Okay so far so good. Now, I have a friend, I have a friend. She is very sophisticated. So, I have a friend WHO is very sophisticated. And she talks a lot. I have a friend WHO talks a lot. So this time, who, who talks a lot, who. Yeah, sounds very sophisticated, very.Okay, so today is Sunday, today is Sunday. I am very active on this day, usually. So, Sunday is the day WHEN I am very active, Sunday is the day when I am very active. Maybe not that very active, just active, let's leave it at that, active,And I usually have a family dinner, I usually have a family dinner. It is usually around 3pm. Early dinner, very early dinner. So, I have a family dinner, WHICH starts usually at around 3pm on a Sunday, on a Sunday. Does it sound sophisticated enough to you? Does it sound sophisticated? I am sure it does. Yeah, right. Okay, and... Oh I am looking outside, still windy. By the way, this wind is blowing from the west, from the west. So, that is the wind WHICH is blowing from the west. Oh, this wind and the weather, I am talking about it all the time, it seems, all the time. So, this wind is something THAT, that I am talking about all the time. This wind is something that I am talking about all the time. Well, not that easy, not that easy. Very sophisticated. So I am looking outside, I am looking outside and I just remembered I need to water my plants. I do that once a week, once a week, usually. They are the plants (THAT) I water once a week. They are the plants I water once a week. I am a sophisticated gardener,Yeah, they do need watering, especially the young ones, the young ones. I actually bought some of them, some of them last week, last week. So, they are the plants WHICH I bought last week. I really hope they are going to be fine in this wind, I would be very very upset about that. So this is something (THAT) I would be very upset ABOUT. This is something that I would be very upset about. So be sophisticated, put your ideas together like that, WHICH is useful and actually not that hard, not that hard, to sound sophisticated.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Off Day'It's Sunday today, it's Sunday, it's beautiful, it's beautiful, but this wind, oh god, it is very, very windy. I don't know why, I have no idea. Well, how should I know? How should I know? So, what I do know, what I do know is that first, my plants don't like that, don't like that at all. And second, no tennis and no basketball outdoors today either. Life. Either way, either way, so anyway, either way, either way, I'm having a pretty good day, a pretty good day. It's summer and Sunday after all, after all, so I should not complain about anything, but sometimes everything should be fine, but for some reason, reason, for some reason, you don't feel all that well, all that well.Do you know this feeling? Do you know? Unfortunately, I do too, I do too. And I'm wondering, am I sick of something? Or what is wrong? What is the matter? What is wrong? Nothing hurts, nothing hurts. I don't get any symptoms, at least, I can't see any. But still, still, I'm having an off day. Do you know what an off day is? Well, exactly that, exactly that. It's not the best day for you. You are feeling a little down, maybe tired. You try one thing or another thing and you can't get any satisfaction. That is an off day. That's how I see it, that's how I see it.So, physically, you are alright, but mentally, mentally, so in your head, so to speak, mentally, you are not feeling okay, you are not feeling okay. What do you do then? What do you do? That's a good question.Medicine, take the meds. No, no, no, that's not what I recommend. Probably, probably, the answer is a little different for everybody. So, for me, that could definitely, definitely be doing sports, doing sports, especially outside, outdoors. Well, not today and damn it. That's okay, not that bad. So, when I do sports, I get really, really tired, but at the same time, at the same time, I can free my head of any problems I might have at the moment. And that's how I cope, I cope, so I manage on an off day, on an off day.Actually, I used to think that I love sports and I love to be active, but now, I'm sure that this is a coping strategy, a coping strategy that helps me more mentally, mentally than physically. That's incredible, really, and it's funny how it works. I'm sure this is not just me. My whole family, my whole family seems to function like that, and they are very, very like me, or I'm very like them. We cope in the same way, do sport. Not to keep fit, keep fit, but to feel better, feel better, on an off day especially, and I'm sure that other people do that too.One of my students, a very busy man, a businessman, a businessman, so a lot of things on his mind, which means a lot of problems, a lot of worries to think about. So he just started, started going to the gym regularly, regularly, regularly, and I saw him the day after that, and he was in such a pain, in such a pain, he could hardly walk because his muscles were so sore, painful, sore muscles. So I smiled and asked him, oh wow, you must feel horrible, you must feel horrible. So that's it for you, right? Are you kidding? Are you kidding?, he said. Can hardly walk, but never felt better, never felt better. And this is exactly what I mean. On an off day, just turn it on, turn it on. That's my medicine. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Surgery'Well, this is windy today. Oh my goodness. I thought I could play some basketball outside, outdoors, outside. But no, no, that's not going to happen. It is a little cold, sure, but also this is so annoying, annoying when you do that in the wind. So no, I'm not going to do that to myself today, maybe tomorrow.Anyway, anyway, I'm here, recording, recording, and I found out, I found out, well, nothing good, actually, nothing good. My friend is going to have a surgery, surgery. So in other words, in other words, she is going to go to a hospital and doctors are going to put her on the table, open her body and fix, fix her hip. Because this is a hip surgery.Do you know what a hip is? Hip, hip, hip, like hip hop. No, nothing to do with music this time. Nothing to do, nothing to do with music. This is the top of your leg, of your leg that connects to your waist. Yeah, this is as close as I can explain that. So we all have two hips, the left one and the right one.And the problem with her hip, the problem with her hip started quite a long time ago, I can remember that. So we can say she has a lot of issues, issues, so problems, issues with her hip. And first she felt uncomfortable, just uncomfortable, but then it became worse and worse so that she couldn't sleep at night. And that's a real issue when that happens. So what do you do? Well, first of all, you take painkillers, painkillers to kill the pain, to manage the pain. And this is what she did, what she tried. A lot actually, a lot. Didn't help much, didn't help much.So what else can you do? You can look for help. So she made a lot of appointments with a lot of doctors. She had a lot of tests on her hip and on her leg. Because it turns out, it turns out it is all connected. It's not a surprise actually that one issue is connected with another one. It's all connected. She also tried physiotherapy, physiotherapy, so treatment on your body from a physio, from a physio, like massage and special exercises. Didn't help, didn't help unfortunately. So finally, finally after all this time, she is sure she has to have a hip surgery. There is no other way. Yeah, that's what we can say here. No other way than a surgery. So she set the date, set the date and it will obviously take place at a hospital. It will not take a lot of time actually, around one, two hours maybe. Well, I'm not sure about that. But the day after that, after the surgery, she will have to start recovery, recovery, recovery time. So she will have to get back to normal, get back to normal. She will stay at a hospital for a few days and then another stage, so another step, another stage will start, the rehab, rehab stage. So it means she will try and move, move her leg a lot and after a few weeks, come back to her regular activities, regular, everyday life. Which is optimistic actually, because now she might be worried and she is, she tells me, she is in a lot of pain, in a lot of pain and she cannot live like that anymore. But after that time of surgery, recovery and rehab, she will start a new, a new, a new life and this is very uplifting, uplifting. So she must remember that, the good days are coming.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Something You'Something you have, something you do, something you eat, something you get, something you give, something you are, something you... a lot of things, that's a lot of things. Let's play. So it is something you are, it is something you are when you are not feeling very well, and it is something a doctor can help you with. Do you know? Yeah, you are sick or ill, sick ill, or you have an illness or sickness. Alright, let's move on. It is something a doctor does, so not you this time. It is something a doctor does to help you, and it is something that a doctor does to find out what is wrong with you, medically, wrong medically, not mentally? Do you know? Yeah, examine, doctor examines you, examines. Alright. This time it is something you have, it is something you have to get treatment, so to get help from a doctor or a hospital, and it is something you pay for, it is something you pay for regularly. Yeah, sorry. Do you know? Yeah, this is your medical insurance, medical insurance. Alright, and now, it is something you really want, it is something you really want when you are not healthy, and it is something you hopefully, hopefully, finally do when you get better, you get better after an illness. Do you know? Yeah, you recover after an illness. Yes you do, yes you do. Alright, time for the next one. It is something you feel, and it is something you feel when something is not right with your body, and it is something you should talk about when you have an appointment with a doctor. Do you know? Yeah, they are your symptoms, your symptoms. I'm sorry, I'm getting sicker and sicker over here. Stay with me, stay with me. So this is something you can show to a chemist, chemist or pharmacist. It is something that sometimes, sometimes is on prescription, prescription from a doctor, and finally it is something that can have a long list, a long list of side effects, we don't want them, but yeah, they do, they do have long lists of side effects. Do you know? Yeah, it's medicine, medicine or meds. Not a big fan of those. Okay, a few more to go, a few more to go. It is something you feel, it is something you feel sort of in your head, and it is something you feel in your head sometimes when you feel weak and you want to sit down for a second. Do you know? Yeah, that's dizzy, dizzy, you feel dizzy. Funny word, funny English word, dizzy.Alright, so it is something you get, it is something you get when you are allergic, allergic, and it is something you get in case of, in case of emergency. Very serious, very serious situation.Do you know? Yeah, it's an injection, injection or a shot, shot also good. I mean not good, you know what I mean. Alright, here comes the last one, the last one. It is something you feel and it is something you feel and you really, really want to do something about that really, really, really bad. So it is something you feel, you want to do something about it and you want to scratch it, scratch it, scratch this because if you don't you feel like you're going to explode. Do you know? Yeah, it's itchy, itchy. It is something you have, it is something you do, it is something you are, it is something you feel...Yeah, and it is something you listen to, my podcast.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Painless'Painless, without pain. Who doesn't want that? I do, I do, I do, yes please. Yeah, that would be nice, that would be nice, definitely ff we could live without pain. Maybe one day, but for now there are treatments, so there are some ways to get better, treatments. And thank God, thank God.So let's take a cold, for example. If you catch a cold you can always find some treatments. Well, first thing, first thing you should do is stay in bed, stay in bed, and get plenty of rest. That's for sure. And besides that, drink plenty of fluids, fluids, yeah. Well, I do sound like a professional medical help. I am not, definitely I am not. But that is what I would do. Seems reasonable, reasonable. And in case of fever, if you run a fever, so you have a high body temperature, maybe take an aspirin. And for runny nose, runny nose, don't forget about the tissues, tissues. That's all you can do here. But overall, not that serious, not that serious. Not as serious as injuring your leg, for example. Injuring your leg might be a little more tricky, tricky to treat. So first of all, if there is a swelling, I would put some ice on it, put some ice, Ice, ice, ice pack on it to keep it cool, keep it cool. Yeah, that would definitely help the swelling. You could also try and rub in some ointment, ointment. And it's definitely good to avoid, avoid exercise if you injure your leg.But if that doesn't help, well, it's time to see a doctor and run some tests. Probably you should have an x-ray, x-ray, and then see what's next, what's next. And then it gets really serious. Well, it might, it might, it doesn't have to, obviously. Hope, let's hope for the best, let's hope for the best. Let's hope it is not broken, it is not broken. And let's hope you don't have to put it in a cast, in a plaster cast.Yeah, and what if you feel exhausted, very, very tired. All the time, that seems like a complex issue, complex, so complicated problem, difficult problem. Well, obviously you need plenty of rest and plenty of good sleep, good quality sleep. Not that easy for me, actually. Perhaps, perhaps, so maybe, perhaps it's the diet. So you should follow a specific diet. You should definitely not forget about regular exercise. And if that doesn't help, maybe run some tests. And see a specialist, see a specialist, and that's the way to go.And finally, what to do if you cut your hand, in the kitchen, for example, while cooking, while cooking. Happens to everyone, happens to everyone. Well, you need to stop the bleeding, stop the bleeding, so stop the blood from coming out. So if it's small, you can put on a small bandaid, bandaid, or plaster, a plaster, a bandaid, or bandage it, bandage it. Anyone can do that. Not everyone can put on the stitches if the cut is very serious, you get that at the hospital. Don't try and do that yourself. That's a no-no. And maybe a painkiller, painkiller, to help and manage, manage the pain. But if not, well, call an ambulance, call ambulance, and go to hospital. There is no way around it, no way around it then. Sorry. We do want it to be painless, painless, don't we?Yeah, let's keep it this way.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Top To Bottom'Top to bottom of the human body, human body. Can you keep up with me? Can you keep up with me? We will see. Let's go, top to bottom.First head, head over here, and hair on it. Inside - brain, brain. We've got two eyes, a nose, and mouth. Two cheeks on the side, and two ears. Oh, let's not forget about eyelids, eyelids, and eyebrows. Am I forgetting anything? Maybe a chin, a chin. And in the mouth, we've got tongue, and teeth, and teeth, one tooth, not one tooth, many teeth, I hope.Alright, we are done with the head, and we're moving down, we're moving down. So here is the neck, neck, and two shoulders on the left and on the right. Yeah, I've got it. We've got an arm, arm, two arms, and elbows, elbows in the middle, and down to hand, and a palm, a palm. So we have a wrist, then a palm with five fingers, and fingernails, the nails. And, oh yeah, one of the fingers, a thumb, a thumb, like thumbs up, a thumb.Okay, we're done with arms and hands. Let's come back to the middle part, and here's the chest, and abdomen, abdomen, inside, oh, plenty of organs inside. I'm not going to draw them, such as heart, and liver, and two lungs, two kidneys, stomach, and intestines. Yeah, maybe that's enough. There's plenty of other things too.Oh, also, breasts, and belly button, belly button, this small little thing in the middle. Wow, I'm good at this, I'm good at anatomy, and this small little thing in the middle. And let's go down. So we've got this waist, waist, waistline, and hips, hips, that's correct. And then, well, men's parts, ladies' parts, and then we've got legs. So we start with two thighs, thighs, and knees, then knees, and then down to shins, shins. And in the back, there are calves, two calves, and ankles, oh yeah, ankles. So we are almost there. So now, two feet with toes, not fingers, toes, and toenails.Alright, and if we look at the back right now, we've got the back, and this spine over here, then comes, well, bottom, the bottom, and parts of the leg. That's calf, calf, and oh, we've got that already, and heels, heels, the back part of the foot.Am I forgetting anything? Am I forgetting? Well, there is a lot of other parts. Luke Likes 'To Be Continued'Finally, finally found some time to be here. I found some time to be here, and I'm recording, I'm recording. I didn't know if I could make it, but I am, I am recording.I'm glad, because I was having dinner, I was having dinner with my family, and I was hanging out with them, maybe a little too long, too long, because it's Sunday, and thought, 'Oh, I have a podcast to make'. I have to do that now, because I still want to play basketball today, and the day is short, so one hour from now, in one hour, I will be playing basketball, hopefully. So, now, this is just perfect time for recording. So, one hour ago, I was having dinner. In one hour, I will be playing basketball. But now I am recording. I was. I will be. I am. I am doing that right now.So, how about we play this game? What am I doing right now? What am I doing right now if one hour ago, maybe not one hour, maybe 30 minutes ago, I was having a shower, and in 15 minutes, I will be sleeping. So, I was having a shower, and in 15 minutes, I will be sleeping. What am I doing right now? Time to think. Yeah! I am reviewing. I am revising, reviewing flashcards with new words. I am before going to sleep. All right, do you get it? Do you get the idea? Let's go with the next one.Fifteen minutes ago, I was coming back home, I was on my way back home, I was coming back home hungry, and in 15 minutes, I will be cooking. What am I doing? What am I doing right now? Time to think.Yeah! That's right. I am doing the shopping, I am doing the shopping right now. And here comes the next one. So, fifteen minutes ago I was coming back home, again, I was coming back home, and in fifteen minutes I will be having something to eat. Yeah, what am I doing right now? Do you know? Time to think. Yeah! You don't know that. Definitely, you don't know that. Yeah, I am walking my dog, I am walking my dog in the evening. That's right.Okay, and another one. Fifteen minutes ago, I was having dinner. And in fifteen minutes, I will be having coffee. Having coffee and some cake. Yeah, why not? Having coffee and some cake. What am I doing right now? Time to think.Yeah! Yeah, I am doing the dishes, I am doing the dishes, after dinner. So, maybe one more, one more. Okay, fifteen minutes ago. No, that's not fifteen minutes, maybe one hour ago I was very nervous, and I was looking through my notes, I was looking through my notes. And in fifteen minutes, I will be, ooh, relieved. I will be relieved, and I will be maybe celebrating, celebrating, hopefully. What am I doing right now? Time to think.Yeah! Yeah, I am taking an exam, I am taking an... Very stressful, very stressful. I know you are not taking an exam right now because you are listening to this episode right now. What were you doing 15 minutes ago? Were you cleaning? Were you working? Were you swimming? And in 15 minutes? Will you be sleeping? Will you be learning? Will you be celebrating? I don't know. What will you be doing after this, after this episode? Maybe practicing. Yeah. Not a bad idea. Not a bad idea. Please do continue. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
Luke Likes 'Painful'Yeah, it seems, it seems like today's episode will be a little painful. Yeah, it will have some pain. Are you in pain? Are you in pain? I hope not, I hope not, but that's part of life. Do you feel pain in your leg? Do you feel pain in your knee, for example? Or, is your leg painful? Is your leg painful? Is your arm painful? Oh, that's too bad, too bad, if it is.Or, where does it hurt? Where does it hurt? Oh, my foot hurts, my foot hurts. Where does it hurt? Over here, over here, it hurts, over here, it hurts really, really bad. Does it hurt a lot? Does it hurt a lot? Yeah, yeah. Oh, I hit my foot, I hit my foot on the door, I hit my foot on the door, and now it hurts, it hurts quite bad. And now I'm in a lot, in a lot of pain. I am in a lot of pain. That's painful, that's painful.Or maybe you have a headache, oh no, headache. Do you have a headache? Headache, headache. Or stomach ache, stomach ache. You ate something bad, stomach ache. Do you have a backache, backache? Oh, sitting too long, sitting too long in front of a computer. Oh, such a bad backache now.Or toothache, toothache. That can happen too, toothache. Yeah, you should see a dentist, see a dentist if you have a toothache, toothache. Yeah, not fun at all, that's not fun at all, must say.And sometimes it's even worse when some accidents happen, and, and and you cut your finger, you cut your finger, and now you are in pain, you are in pain, and you are bleeding, you are bleeding, you cut your finger. Yeah, that's a lot of pain.Oh, you broke your arm, you broke your arm. That must hurt, that must hurt. Oh no, oh no, I fell down, I fell down, and bruised my knee, I bruised my knee. It is swollen, it is swollen right now, I bruised it, and it is swollen. It's not broken, it is not broken, fortunately. And you can twist, twist your ankle, twist your ankle, while, hmm, let me think, playing basketball. Yeah, you can do that playing basketball, twist your ankle, definitely happened to me. It hurts, it hurts, it is painful. Yeah, all of that. What can you do? What can you do? You cannot avoid that, you cannot avoid it. Nope. And unfortunately, you cannot avoid a cold, and do you have a cold sometimes? Do you have a cold? Is it painful? Yes, it is a little. The body, the body hurts, the body hurts, the body aches, you feel tired, you feel tired and you have a lot of symptoms. Your body aches, and your muscles are sore, sore muscles. So you feel pain in your muscles, they are sore. But also you have a lot, a lot of other symptoms too. Is it a cold? Is it flu? Is it flu? Is it a cold? I don't know, I don't know, it's all bad. Do you have a fever? Do you have a fever? Oh yeah, I do, I do have a fever. And what else? I cough, I cough, and I have a runny nose. That's not painful, but annoying, this is annoying, not painful. A runny nose, runny nose.Oh, and a sore throat, sore throat, so you have difficulty speaking, difficulty speaking because of your sore throat. So you feel sick, you feel sick and lack energy, energy, you have no energy and you are exhausted, exhausted. Yeah, pretty bad symptoms. So hopefully, hopefully you are not in pain, you are not in pain. Nothing is painful and it doesn't hurt a lot, it doesn't hurt a lot. It may feel bad at the moment, it may, but it will get better, get better.Eventually, it will.Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people!-------------------------------------------Intro/Outro Music By:Joakim Karud -LongingLicense:Creative Commons License
