Allison Goodwin knows what it means to be worried about feeding her family. As a mother of five (she wanted a third child but ended up with triplets!) she has more than empathy for what it takes to get through life. Her studies and work in early childhood development prepared her well for her role as President and CEO of the extremely well regarded and connected organization called the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Over a hundred partners, thousands of volunteers and a vast array of families served makes for a lot of valuable work, especially in the current political climate and holiday season. Tune in when host Clark Wolf speaks with Sonoma County born and raised Goodwin about feeding people while treating them with respect and dignity.   Savoring Sonoma: The Hour, every second and fourth Saturdays at 5:00am and Sundays at 10:00am on KRCB 104.9, Sonoma County's NPR station.

Margo True may have started what continues to be a remarkable career at the age of seven when she became enamored with a glossy magazine called Gourmet. Years later she worked at that very title and did significant stints at Savour, our beloved Sunset Magazine and, remarkably, Patagonia, the clothing and gear folks who sell some very special foods. Today she’s the Editorial Director of Civil Eats, a platform that came to be as the result of a magical weekend in San Francisco called Slow Food Nation. There’s history, culture, public policy and a good deal more, with host Clark Wolf.   Savoring Sonoma: The Hour, every second and forth Saturday mornings at 5:00am and Sunday mornings at 10:00am on KRCB 104.9.

For the last decade or so host Clark Wolf has moderated panels in the Life on the Farm section of the Gravenstein Apple Fair. Usually, it’s farmers and others who take care of us addressing fundamental topics of strong interest. This year the focus of Sunday’s panel was a lively discussion of those big words being used these days: sustainable, regenerative, responsible. Farmers (a James Beard Award winning grain farmer!), organizational leaders, design directors, wine growers and more. But Saturday was a tasty departure, featuring six top talents who baked stellar Gravenstein apple pies in their own unique styles, then judged each others and we gave some awards. Inspiring and full, in every sense of the word. Panel included: Jennifer Reichart (Liberty Duck farm), Melissa Bucklin (Oak Hill Farm), David Evershed (Eames Ranch), Mai Nguyen (Farmer Mai), and Brittany Jensen (Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District). Pie Contest featured: Priti Mistri, Daniel Kedan, Geneva Melby, Dawn Zaft, Gergana Karabelov, and Michele Wimborough. This episode of Savoring Sonoma: The Hour presents a deep and powerful - sometimes funny - conversation with chef Douglas Keane centered on his new book Culinary Leverage: A Journey Through the Heat. Through extreme challenges, both emotional and professional, Keane remains determined and extremely human as he develops as a chef and as a person, pulling no punches when relating his own and others’ foibles and successes . It’s a story of family (including dogs), mentors, knocks and dreams, resulting in a new construct for a business many celebrate but don’t really understand.
Host Clark Wolf sits down for an in-depth conversation with two people working tirelessly to protect our watershed and all that includes. J. David Holt is an author, historian, and former marketing executive. His new children’s book, “The Mystery of Mushroom Valley,” illustrates childhood lessons about friendship, family, and the value of nature’s resources. Did we mention there’s a leprechaun? Susan is Founder and Executive Director of North Bay Children's Center and their Garden of Eatin’. She is being recognized an “Educator for the Future” in this year’s Nor Cal Public Media Food and Wine Awards.  Savoring Sonoma: The Hour, every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 6:00pm on KRCB 104.9.
