Description
Have you realized that adding in one more prescription is not the way to get you healing?
Do you feel like your healthcare team doesn’t quite understand what’s making you sick?
Are you tired of the shame that you feel when you are told that your health is getting worse and not better?
And are you finally ready for a different approach- one that empowers you and fills you up and one that has God in the midst of your healing journey?
I’m Karin Allumbaugh, functional medicine practitioner, Kidney Care Blueprint founder, and your host for the Rooted and Healing podcast.
As a former pharmaceutical researcher, I recognized that there was another approach to more and more prescriptions in the quest to achieve health. And when my mom was diagnosed with kidney disease, I saw first hand the problems inherent with our healthcare system, I saw so many recommendations that didn’t make sense scientifically and I also recognized that this approach left little room for God in the midst.
And that’s where the Kidney Care Blueprint came from.
This podcast further expands on those things that will help you heal, with kidney disease or beyond- autoimmune disease, high blood pressure, diabetes or blood sugar regulation issues, and more. We’ll uncover the foods and nutritional strategies that help you to heal. We will uncover the root causes that are contributing to your symptoms. We will talk about what is wrong with your current approach with your doctors and healthcare team. And most importantly, we will uncover the alternative therapies, the herbal remedies and supplements, the lifestyle changes that you need to finally go from fearful to courageous, as you are empowered to rest in God’s truths for your healing journey.

The invisible root causes of high blood pressure most doctors overlook
What the research says about over-lowering BP in older adults
How to begin advocating for root-cause healing—not just symptom suppression

What if getting better sleep meant that your kidney function would get better?
I hear what you’re saying… but ever since my kidney disease got worse I sleep terribly.
Ok, let’s bring in some tools to make it better.
Because bad sleep correlates with your kidney disease getting worse. And when you improve your sleep- the quality and quantity- you improve your blood pressure, your diabetes, your gut health… and even your kidney disease.
So what are we going to do to make it better?
That’s what this latest podcast episode is all about.
We’ll talk about WHY your sleep is crud.
We’ll talk about why it REALLY matters that you improve it.
And finally we’ll talk about how you can go about taking some steps to improve it.
Because it IS that important!
That’s why addressing sleep IS an important component of the Kidney Care Blueprint.

Anemia is pretty straightforward, right? I mean, you need iron to transport oxygen throughout your body. That means if your iron is low, you better supplement, right?
Well today I discuss why supplementation may be actually making your symptoms worse, and how to know if you need to add more iron in, or address some other reasons why your iron may be low.
The goal? Help you understand your symptoms, help you be in control of them for good, and finally make you a master of your own health.
Do NOT put your health into the hands of your health care provider. Understand your symptoms and become a master of taking charge of your health for good!! Remember, no one knows YOU better than YOU!!

Sarah was a client that taught me a lot about symptoms that sometimes don't make any sense.
She taught me that there is one misunderstood concept that lies right there in the midst of all of the most common health conditions currently. And when it's a factor, there can be a train wreck of other symptoms that come along as well.
That's what this episode is all about. I hope her story can give you some insight into your own health and wellness journey.
Remember, there is no better investment than in your health.
