In an age dominated by streaming platforms, social media algorithms, and a constant flow of digital entertainment, it might seem unlikely that a series about the life of Jesus would become one of the most talked‑about global media phenomena of the past decade. Yet that is precisely what has happened with The Chosen, the multi‑season television drama created by Dallas Jenkins. What began as a modest, crowdfunded project has grown into an international cultural movement that is reshaping how biblical stories are presented in modern media. As Easter approaches each year—a season centered on the death and resurrection of Christ—the impact of The Chosen becomes even more meaningful. The series not only retells the Gospel story but also invites audiences to rediscover its humanity, relevance, and emotional depth in a way that resonates across generations and cultures. I wanted to trace a bit more of its history and discover why it broke through, especially in today's media climate. In the story of Wicked, there's a powerful moment when we see how easily someone can be labeled "wicked" so others can feel justified in calling themselves good. It's a reminder that our worldview shapes how we define right and wrong — and ultimately how we make decisions. From the earliest pages of Scripture to the daily choices we face now, the tension between good and evil is real, and recognizing it clearly matters. The question is not just what we believe, but how those beliefs guide our future decisions. Today on the Power of After Show, we're talking about why defining your worldview — and aligning it with your core values — is essential for clarity, courage, and confidence in your next steps. Today's message is for you if you've achieved a lot in life but still find your peace easily disrupted—by stress, shifting circumstances, or small daily irritations. In a world that constantly competes for our attention, gratitude can feel quiet and secondary. We know it matters—but living it, especially in forgiveness, mindset, habits, and reactions, requires intention. No matter what season you're in, gratitude keeps resurfacing as the steady principle that carries us through changing relationships, finances, and life transitions. I've seen this firsthand. Gratitude isn't denial—it's a lens that reveals possibility in frustration and growth in disappointment. Today, we're exploring how gratitude becomes a pathway to freedom—freedom from bitterness, negative thinking, reactive habits, and the energy drain of constant irritation. I know only one person who set a Guinness World Record at age 66 by swimming across the Catalina Island Channel—and that's Deborah Gardner. She's even been hailed as the "Pit Bull in a Skirt" by major Fortune 500 companies and she shares how she navigated pitch-black waters, 2-to-3 foot swells, and the physical toll of open water swimming to achieve the impossible. As we explore what's possible at mid-career or halftime of life, it's important to remember that you don't need to set a world record to create meaningful change—but you do need clear, measurable goals with a strong purpose. Today, I'm thrilled to interview Deborah, who not only conquers open water but also helps organizations and professionals rise to new heights with action, focus, and success. Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a massive goal or discouraged by those telling you it cannot be done? **We've learned** from Deborah that the secret lies in breaking the impossible into small, manageable victories—moving simply from "feed to feed." Her story is a testament to the "Power of After" and maximizing your resources during the halftime of life. Despite the naysayers and the physical pain, Deborah found beauty in the moonlight and the support of her crew. We talk about the importance of mindset, the willingness to change, and the discipline to train when no one is watching. We also explore the value of purpose—and why you shouldn't fear quitting, pivoting, or failing, especially at mid-career or the halftime season of life. In this season of life, success asks different questions. Not just What am I building? but How am I living while I build it? Many people discover they don't want to abandon structure—but they also don't want to live under it. Especially as most of us have lived under that structure for twenty or more years! Today we're exploring what it means to live with clear purpose and steady direction, without locking yourself into a way of working that no longer honors who you are now. Many times we focus first on mindset and today is no exception as we approach the topic, "Focused, Not Rigid: Enjoying Life Without Losing Direction." We are living in an age of unprecedented noise—not just around us, but within us. Our minds are constantly pulled by alerts, opinions, endless information, and now the accelerating pace of artificial intelligence, which only adds to the sense that everything is moving faster than we can process. It's no wonder so many capable, thoughtful people feel stretched thin and quietly overwhelmed—not from weakness, but from living in a world that rarely pauses. In this episode, From Overwhelmed to Anchored, we'll talk about how to regain inner stability by building anchors that hold: simple, intentional habits like devotionals, journaling, exercise, thoughtful planning, protected thinking time, and guilt-free rest—practices that work together to create a resilient inner framework, even when the world around us refuses to slow down. And all of this is doable. Inner stability is not achieved through dramatic life changes, but through small, consistent habits practiced over time. These anchors—devotionals, journaling, exercise, planning, thinking time, and rest—work together to create a resilient inner framework. We cover them all in this show and article! Welcome to today's topic, "Strong Before Busy: Rebuilding the Right Foundation." This season of life: halftime, mid-career or midlife, is for those standing in a quieter, truer in-between—when the old rhythms no longer drive your days, but the next chapter hasn't fully taken shape. Before filling your calendar or chasing the next opportunity, we pause to ask a better question: what kind of strength does this season actually require? In this episode, we explore what it means to rebuild from the inside out—strengthening how you think, what anchors you spiritually, how honestly you assess the abilities you've earned, and how intentionally you define the life you want to live now. Because the most meaningful second half doesn't come from doing more—it comes from getting grounded first, and then moving forward with purpose. Today's interview highlights an ordinary citizen who uncovered an extraordinary truth. It's a story of courage, determination, and grassroots mobilization that rallied more than 25,000 people. Sandy Rosenthal changed the national conversation about the deadly flooding in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina—proving that one person can make a powerful difference. She may be an everyday woman with two small dogs, Twinkie and Cupcake, but her passion for justice shows what's possible when a "David" decides to stand up to the "Goliaths." Despite facing powerful opposition, Sandy persevered, drawing on expert input, bold communication, and an unshakable belief in her mission. Her award-winning book, Words Whispered in Water, chronicles how she challenged the system — and won. My college education feels like it was way back in the dark ages as it never mentioned the term "entrepreneur" or "personal operating system." Even though there were computer operating systems, the personal development and entrepreneurial emphasis and metaphor of a POS didn't start appearing in blogs and discussions until the early 2010's. Today, there comes a point in life and business—often at mid-career or halftime—when the question is no longer "Can I do this?" but "How do I want to keep doing this?" Many accomplished professionals find themselves exhausted—not because they lack ability, but because they are recreating systems over and over again. Every new project feels like starting from scratch. Every assistant needs a fresh explanation. Every post, email, or piece of content requires unnecessary mental effort. This is where a Personal Operating System (POS) becomes not just helpful—but essential. We take you through the steps for evaluating and/or creating your own POS. When I say the phrase "Healthy Goals for the Non-Athlete," I know it resonates with a lot of people—because even those who once were athletes don't always feel like one anymore. My husband played professional sports, and yet today, like many of us, he notices the shifts: sleep patterns change, flexibility isn't what it used to be, balance takes more intention, and there's a quiet awareness that time matters. This episode isn't about peak performance, six-packs, or training like an Olympian. It's about setting healthy, realistic goals for everyday life—especially if you're in mid-career, at halftime, or beyond. At this stage, healthy goals begin with a healthy mindset, and consistency matters far more than intensity. Today, Greg and I focus on three areas that truly support a strong next chapter: mental health, physical health, and social health. Many people don't consciously design their lifestyle—they drift into it. We are creatures of habit so our calendars fill up, commitments accumulate, and before long life feels busy but misaligned. Designing your lifestyle with intention means stepping back to ask thoughtful questions about how you want to live, work, and relate in this season of life. Especially at mid-career or halftime of life, this process isn't about starting over—it's about aligning what you already have with what matters most now. At lease every year, if not more often, I stop and evaluate where I'm at and what the road ahead realistically looks like. I can then better plan and cut what is unnecessary and not be overwhelmed. We will cover some of the basics of that planning in today's episode. Here's what I'm hearing from many professionals at mid‑career and halftime: "I set good goals… but life gets busy, priorities shift, and momentum fades." This is not a motivation problem—it's an implementation problem. In the companion article and show Setting Goals for the New Year, we focused on clarity, values, quarterly planning, and measurable goals. This article is the next step. It answers the real question: How do you actually follow through—consistently and sustainably? Implementation is where intention becomes traction. And it doesn't require perfection—just structure, rhythm, and review. Today we cover all three. So if you're looking to implement goals successfully, the best time to start is now! The start of a new year brings fresh energy, renewed motivation, and the opportunity to reset our direction setting goals. Yet many people create goals without structure—resulting in good intentions but little progress. In fact well-known statistics verify that 88-92% fail to achieve their New Year's goals, or resolutions. A powerful year begins with clarity, alignment, and a workable plan. This show and accompanying article outlines a step-by-step framework for setting meaningful and practical goals built around your big picture, quarterly focus and lifestyle alignment, all with reflective evaluation. It also emphasizes the importance of core values, purpose, travel plans, and dedicated time for thinking —key ingredients for a fulfilling and productive year. Stories shape us long before we realize it. As a kid, I could lose entire summer afternoons in piles of library books, swept away by fairy tales I knew weren't real—but still felt powerful. As adults, we craft our own versions of those tales, only now they run quietly in the background: narratives about being "too old," "not ready," "not talented enough," or "certain to fail." I hear these same internal scripts from mid-career professionals and entrepreneurs all the time, and they can be just as misleading as the stories I read growing up. When repeated, they gather strength and start to limit what we try, what we risk, and what we imagine for ourselves. If you've ever felt stuck or unable to move forward, it may not be your age or circumstances holding you back—but the story you're believing. Today, we're unpacking three of the most common narratives that keep people stalled—and the simple shifts that can help you break free. Some days feel like everything hits at once—a demanding workload that keeps growing, a coworker who pushes boundaries, unfinished conversations waiting at home, and financial pressures that seem to tighten by the day. It's the kind of day that leaves you mentally stretched and wishing for just five minutes to breathe. In those moments, the idea of separating your stress into manageable pieces feels unrealistic. Yet the truth is that learning how to compartmentalize your stress can be one of the most powerful ways to protect your energy, your clarity, and your relationships. Today, we're going to talk about what that actually looks like—not ignoring problems but giving each one its proper place so it doesn't spill into everything else. This is especially important during the holidays as this episode is released. We'll walk through practical strategies that help you regain control of your mindset, your time, and the moving parts of your life that often feel overwhelming. Growing up, our Christmases were steeped in tradition—family gatherings with parents and grandparents, Christmas Eve on one side, Christmas Day on the other. There was always food, music, laughter, and that wonderful feeling of belonging. Over the years, life has shifted—our kids are grown, families live farther apart, and even health and travel have changed what holidays look like. This year, our celebration looks a little different too. In this episode, Greg and I reflect on how to find meaning when traditions change, how to create new rhythms that fit this season of life, and how to hold on to what truly matters most. In this episode, "No Substitute for Work," we dive into the timeless value of purposeful effort—something my Southern grandmother, Mimi, modeled daily as she hand-whipped meringue with a fork and raked leaves from the big oak tree without complaint. Her quiet diligence reflected an era when hard work was both a rhythm and a reward. We'll explore how that work ethic has evolved through history, the lasting benefits of meaningful labor, and how to define an ideal work-lifestyle that balances purpose with peace. In a world obsessed with shortcuts and automation, this episode reminds us that while tools can help, there's still no true substitute for the fulfillment that comes from honest, dedicated work. We cover a brief definition of purposeful work, work ethic, benefits of work and defining your ideal work-lifestyle.
