Description

Midlife by (Human) Design is the podcast for women in midlife who feel called to redesign the second half of life--consciously, spiritually, and on their own terms.

If you're asking:
Who am I now?
Why doesn't the life I built fit anymore?
Why does everything feel off, even though nothing's technically wrong?
What choice would I make if I actually trusted myself?

--you're in the right place.

This show is for women navigating midlife as the initiation it is. Through Human Design, spirituality, perimenopause and menopause wisdom, and grounded real-life practices, we explore what it means to become the woman you're here to be in the second half of life.

I'm your host, Lori Lisai, a Human Design guide and coach for midlife women. I help women stop outsourcing their authority, understand their energy, and make aligned decisions as they shed the shoulds and be who they came here to be.

Each week, we dive into:
✨ Human Design teachings that help you trust yourself and your decisions
🌙 Perimenopause + menopause through a mind–body–energy lens
🔥 Identity shifts, purpose pivots, and the unraveling that precedes reinvention
🌿 Energy management and self-care that actually restores you
💫 Spiritual insights, archetypes, and real stories of women consciously authoring the second half of life

If you've been wondering where your spark went and how to get it back, you're in the right place.
This is a space for women who are dreaming bigger (or want to) and who know that midlife is the opportunity to finally be your authentic self. It's where meaning deepens, intuition sharpens, and a truer life becomes possible.

Each episode is part teaching, part reflection, part permission slip—with practical tools, honest conversations, and the occasional well-placed F-bomb.

Midlife is the perfect time of life.
You're becoming someone new.
Let's make sure she feels like home.

Why do so many women in midlife feel like they're not enough? And what if that feeling isn't actually a personal flaw — but a clue in your Human Design? In this follow-up to last week's "Too Much" episode, we explore the other side of the coin: the deep, persistent feeling of not being enough. In Human Design, this feeling often shows up in our undefined or open centers — the areas where we take in and amplify other people's energy. Instead of being consistent sources of energy, these centers are places where we learn, experience, and develop wisdom. But before we understand them, they can create lifelong stories of trying to prove our worth, keep up with others, or become someone we think we should be. Midlife often becomes the turning point where those coping strategies stop working. Hormones shift, identities evolve, and suddenly the old ways of pushing, performing, and proving begin to crack. In this episode, we walk through the nine Human Design centers, exploring how undefined centers can create "not enough" narratives — and how understanding them can bring compassion, clarity, and freedom. We'll also talk about the viral Threads conversation sparked by a Heated Rivalry reference and why some women feel deeply called toward desire… while others insist it's too late. Maybe that tension is the real invitation. Key Takeaways: Why undefined centers are the birthplace of "not enough" stories • How conditioning shapes our identity — especially before midlife • The surprising wisdom hidden inside openness in your Human Design chart • The questions that can reveal where you've been trying to prove your worth Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai     🔗 Get HD through the midlife lens in your inbox: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart 🔗 Support the pod with a donation: https://tinyurl.com/MbDpodsupport 🔗 Episode 103: I Deserve More (Heart Center): https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/ep-103-i-deserve-more-the-heart-center-heated-rivalry/id1754592104?i=1000750980685
Ever feel like you're "too much" — too emotional, too intense, too opinionated, too driven — and find yourself shrinking to make other people comfortable? In this episode, Lori reframes the midlife fear of being "too much" through the lens of Human Design. Instead of dialing yourself down, what if your strongest traits are actually your greatest gifts? Walking center by center through the body graph, Lori explores how defined energy can be misinterpreted — and why midlife is the perfect time to stop apologizing for who you are. If you've been playing small, softening your edges, or second-guessing your intensity, this episode is your permission slip to take up space with integrity. Key Takeaways: • Why "too much" is often someone else's discomfort • The center most likely to get labeled emotional • How defined energy feels to undefined people • The difference between intensity and being out of integrity • Why midlife hormonal shifts can actually support authenticity   🔗 Get HD through the midlife lens in your inbox: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart 🔗 Private coaching with Lori: https://www.lorilisai.com/1-1-human-design-coaching   Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai
You thought it was just a show...but what if the intensity you're feeling is actually your worth waking up? In this episode, we explore how the Human Design Heart Center explains that sudden midlife realization: "I deserve more." A recent thread about Heated Rivalry inspired Lori into a deeper conversation about midlife, desire, and worthiness. Why do certain stories hit so hard? Why do they make us question our marriages, our bodies, our ambition, or the way we've been settling? Key Takeaways: The role of the Heart (Ego) Center in Human Design The difference between defined and undefined Heart Centers in midlife How fantasy can act as a mirror and what to do about it If you've found yourself thinking: I want to be loved like that again. I didn't know I was allowed to want that. Why does this feel impossible in my real life? This episode will help you remember what that desire truly means for you.   If you're ready to explore the challenges in life with language that resonates on a soul level, in a safe space, and with permission to be honest about what you want, you can learn more about working with Lori one-on-one here: https://www.lorilisai.com/1-1-human-design-coaching 🔗 Original thread: https://www.threads.com/@caligirl_texasworld/post/DVBYmi_lbAU?xmt=AQF0vVL78KLtErgaeP0ZLbinCpQM3-qfeepDL8L0ZvKdHw Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai   🔗 Get HD through the midlife lens in your inbox: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart
Ever notice how quickly you can go from grounded and clear to reactive, overwhelmed, or spiraling — and then judge yourself for it? This episode explores why midlife triggers challenge us, what's actually happening in your nervous system, and how energy work, meditation, and awareness can help you return to yourself instead of reacting from fear. In this conversation, Lori sits down with energy healer and meditation teacher River Buffum of Butterfly Moon Wellness to unpack what "energy" really means, why fear isn't the enemy, and how midlife can become a powerful doorway instead of a breakdown. River shares what actually happens in a session, how emotions move through the body (often much faster than we think), and why awareness is the first step toward choosing differently. They also explore the high and low expressions of our humanity, how to recognize when your vibration has dropped, and the simple daily practices that can steady you during chaotic times. If you've been feeling stuck, reactive, or quietly exhausted by the emotional weight of this season of life, this episode is a grounded, compassionate guide back to your body — and back to choice. Takeaways: Why fear might be sacred instead of something to fix The subtle shift that turns a trigger into a choice What actually happens in a Reiki or energy session The 90-second insight about emotions How to know when your vibration has dropped A simple list that could change how you handle overwhelm    Find River here: https://butterflymoonwellness.com/ Connect with River: river@butterflymoonwellness.com Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai   🔗 Get HD through the midlife lens in your inbox: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart 🔗 Support the pod with a donation: https://tinyurl.com/MbDpodsupport
Midlife can feel unbearably heavy these days, with grief, sadness, and exhaustion layered on top of a world in upheaval. This episode is a direct, compassionate pep talk about why joy isn't optional in midlife, and how reclaiming it helps you steady yourself and choose what comes next. In this short but powerful episode, Lori speaks directly to midlife women who feel lost, depleted, or stuck in emotional withdrawal. Drawing on Human Design, astrology, and lived experience, she reframes midlife as a pivotal moment for intentional shifts — not massive overhauls, but small daily choices that reconnect you to your vitality, worth, and sense of direction. Key Takeaways:  A surprising way to think about joy when life feels unstable Where to look in your chart when you need grounding  The quiet reason midlife requires conscious pivots  What fighting the "old version" of yourself actually means How one small decision can change the emotional tone of your day   Want a gates summary? Ever find yourself moved—sometimes uncomfortably—by a story, a fantasy, or a version of life that isn't yours, and wondering what that stirring actually means? This episode speaks to the quiet midlife ache for the lives we didn't live—and the confusion and self-judgment that often follow. In this milestone 100th episode of Midlife by (Human) Design, Lori explores a deeply familiar yet rarely named midlife experience: the longing that surfaces when desire, connection, and intensity are awakened by media, relationships, or cultural moments like Heated Rivalry. Through the lens of Human Design, she reframes longing not as a problem to fix or suppress, but as meaningful information—pointing to identity shifts, evolving values, and parts of ourselves asking to be integrated rather than acted out. This episode invites listeners to slow down, listen more closely to what's stirring, and meet midlife questions with curiosity, discernment, and compassion—without urgency or self-judgment. 🔗 Get on the email list for readings access: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart 🔗 Support the pod with a donation: https://tinyurl.com/MbDpodsupport Key Takeaways: Why longing tends to appear after we've lived enough life to recognize it The difference between grief, fantasy, and meaningful midlife reckoning Why certain stories or shows can awaken longing more powerfully in midlife, and how to see them as mirrors What Human Design reveals about identity shifts and emotional depth in midlife Questions to ask yourself before deciding whether a longing needs action or integration Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai
Feeling emotionally flat, unseen, or quietly starving for a love story that actually gets you in midlife? This episode explores why Heated Rivalry hit us in the chest—and what it's waking up inside us. In this episode, Lori offers a dose of "HRT"—Heated Rivalry Therapy—for the soul. She dives into the cultural phenomenon of the Heated Rivalry series and unpacks why the love story between hockey rivals Shane and Ilya resonates so deeply with women, especially those navigating midlife. Through a Human Design lens, Lori reveals how their dynamic mirrors our own struggles with deconditioning, the "good girl" burden, and the longing to be fully seen and chosen. Midlife can feel disorienting and tender because you're no longer meant to live from who you've already been. This episode explores how the North Node — through both astrology and Human Design — offers a map for understanding who you're becoming, even when that direction feels unfamiliar. In this episode of Midlife by Design, Lori reframes the North Node as a growth edge rather than a destiny to chase. She explains why midlife is the ideal time to consciously work with North Node themes, how the South Node can quietly keep you anchored to outdated identities, and why discomfort is often a signal that meaningful growth is underway. You'll hear an accessible overview of North Node sign themes, insights into house placement, and how Human Design refines this work down to the gate level, using Lori's own chart as a real-life example. This conversation invites you to step out of prescriptive living, question inherited expectations, and approach your next chapter with curiosity, intention, and self-trust. 🔗 Readings through the email list: https://www.lorilisai.com/#newsletter  🔗 Get your HD & Astro Chart: https://www.lorilisai.com/hd-chart 🔗 Support the pod with a donation: https://tinyurl.com/MbDpodsupport Key Takeaways Why the path that feels unfamiliar may be the one calling you forward How midlife reveals the limits of patterns you have already mastered What your North Node can show you about purpose and direction in this phase of life Why small, intentional shifts create lasting change How astrology and Human Design together offer a clearer picture of who you are becoming   Connect with Lori: Instagram @lorilisai Threads: @lorilisai
