When It Is Not The Sign You Want
Delivered by Pastor Brad Smith 16/11/25.
The human race has a track record of only hearing the things they want to hear when God is talking to them. The bible is full of answered prayers and petitions that numerous people had rejected, because they are not the answers they wanted to hear. We need to be very careful that we don't slide into that situation ourselves.

Part 5 of the Armour Of God series:
We face many trials in our lives as Christians. The most powerful protection we have is our Faith. Faith is the shield that allows us to stand in the face of adversity. The trial of our faith is more precious than gold. We must pray for faith and exercise our faith, putting it between us and our enemy. Faith is a gift of the Spirit, a fruit of the Spirit, and part of our Spiritual armour.

God created humanity for a purpose. He provided everything that was good for us physically, emotionally and spiritually. Because we were created with a free will, he also provided directions and warnings that would protect us from natural and spiritual harm (Genesis 3:1-24). Most people do not consider that we are primarily spiritual beings... our bodies are only vehicles for our souls.

Forgiveness is the most vital of all practices we both accept and exercise as Christians. Every day of our loves we receive or generate offences of one type or another... mistakes are made, advantages are taken, feelings are hurt. Unless these are dealt with effectively, our lives become negative and our joy and performance falters. Forgiveness is the capacity to remain in harmony with ourselves, with each other and God. Forgiveness is difficult if we are not sure of what God is offering and expecting. Forgiveness is not about making excuses, nor is it about condoning bad behaviour... it is a pardon, where blame and judgement are not enforced. Effective repentance frees our lives and the lives of others from shortcomings which can trouble our conscience and limit our peace and happiness.

The following scriptures make a clear case for the church to promote the anointing of the Holy Spirit as its first and most urgent priority. Many today are being side tracked by the need to have 'spiritual experiences', while the bible is more interested in getting people filled with the Spirit of God. Jesus Christ died and was resurrected so that the human race could have access to the life-giving powers of God. Jesus himself could not begin his ministry till he had the Holy Spirit within him... the infilling power and authority of God.

Part 4 of the Armour Of God series:
An army marches on its feet, and many victories are won by walking. Spiritual battles are won by walking in the spirit. Ephesians 6 tells us that our feet must be shod with the preparation of the Gospel of Peace.

There is a focus point that all Christians should build their life on. None of us can attain perfection within our own right... nor with the natural skills or abilities within us. Our dependence on God's mercy and forgiveness is far greater than we think and far more effective than we may find comfortable. Paul's personal testimony of his life reveals how he moved from being a murderer of the saints, to a super spiritual person. Once he was nothing more than a natural person (like most Christians'): transformed into a spiritually successful person.

To 'get back into the saddle' means doing something that we have stopped doing. For most of history, horses were the prime means of transport. Horses can be challenging and the path can be full of obstacles... accidents happened frequently. Many lost their confidence from such mishaps and thus the term was coined. There is an obvious spiritual parallel. When we get back in the saddle... nothing has changed. Same horse (God), same saddle (Holy Spirit), same rider (born again)...confidence needs to be restored quickly.

People become very independent once they leave school and start fending for themselves. This independence flows through to all parts of their lives and often they cut themselves off from vital knowledge and assistance as a result. This further entrenches the concept of "self only" support and people become hardened against good advice.
The great tragedy of the Christian Church has been in the adopting of this policy of "man knows best". The concept of building the church was based, in principle, upon the fact that man knows nothing, the answer is in the Lord. God offered Moses a rod, which was to be his authorization during his lifetime. The rod was the power of God to the man of God: also exemplifying the words of God and was always present when God acted.
The rod, of course, was representative of the Holy Spirit which was poured out on the day of Pentecost, and the "type" became reality. Without this rod, Moses was nothing, and without the Spirit we are nothing... it is the power and authority from God.
How many times when pressures arise do we grumble about our circumstances? "We are better off in our old world religion... I I preferred my life the way it was before we were Spirit filled"; these are common statements that people make to their oversight when they don't like the way they are being led. Moses was also pressed to change God's directions, but God said no.

Part 3 of the Armour Of God series:
In our chest we have our heart and lungs, they are vital organs that are protected by the breastplate. Spiritually we must also protect our heart and Spirit. Blood is the lifeforce of our body, likewise the blood of Jesus gives us eternal life. Our lungs give us the vital breath of life just as the Spirit of God gives us the breath (Spirit) of eternal life. To overcome we must protect our heart and Spirit.

Part 2 of the Armour Of God series:
We are faced with many challenges in our lives. The ability to choose right from wrong goes all the way back to the garden of Eden. This story illustrates the danger of allowing our feelings and opinions to interfere when identifying facts needed to make good choices. When you look at the mistakes people make you find that somewhere they have allowed the gut feelings to overrule the truth of the situation. Hence, we need to gird our loins with the truth if we are to defeat our problems.

Someone once said there are two types of people in the world...
those who come into a room and say, 'Here I am!'
and those who come into a room and say, 'Ah, there you are!'
How different are those two approaches! One says "Look at me! I need attention";
The other says, "Tell me about yourself."
One says, "I am important";
the other says, "You are important."
One says, "The world revolves around me";
the other says, "You are important."
Wouldn't it be great to be known as that second kind of person... others love to have around?
Someone who displays the love of Christ openly and unashamedly?
The New Testament gives us some practical suggestions about becoming the kind of person who demonstrates Christ's love.

These 3 attributes offered by God, turn the simplicity of mercy, compassion and forgiveness into a powerhouse of opportunity. God's intentions towards us are certainly not hidden or distorted when we have a good understanding of how God works and what his real nature is. Jesus' death and resurrection have opened the door to more blessing than ever.

Delivered by Mitchell Lever 20th July 2025.
God created humanity with various desires and needs to be met through our relationship with him. The world offers alternatives in God's absence. Alcohol is one example. It is important that we understand what alcohol is, how the bible views it's consumption, and God's promise to completely meet our needs (Jhn 6:35).
In doing this, we uphold God's testimony as 'the light of the world, a city set on a hill', we remain 'in the world but not of the world', and we are able to give an answer 'to every man that asks a reason of the hope' that is in us (Mat 5:14, Pet 3:15, 1Per 2:9).

Part 1 of the Armour Of God series:
All of us battle with problems in our lives, both big and small. God promises an overcomers resurrection. To overcome our problems God gives us Spiritual armour. This we must use to become proficient in fighting our battles. Our fellow soldiers (brothers and sisters) are our most valuable asset in this battle. If we care for them and they in turn care for us we will always win the victory.

This talk is an overview of the Book of Revelation (form of apocalyptic literature in scripture) that details a prophets symbolic dreams of visions. It is not a secret code for deciphering the date of Jesus' return. This overview explains history's pattern and God's promise to defeat evil and restore all things new - partnering with those who endure (overcome) by the blood of the lamb and the word of his testimony.
