Cup of Hope:Advent: Useful and Fruitful 2 Peter 1:8 Our Father in Heaven desires that we produce fruit - not an earthly fruit that will mold, decay and fade, but a fruit that will last for all of eternity. This is why relationships - the people in our lives are so important. #cupofHope #advent #InspireHope #fruitful #useful

Brotherly kindness. It's easier said than done. When considering those among us with personalities that are are more challenging, we can easily get trapped into brotherly irritation more than kindness. 2 Peter 1:7a Let's join together and spur one another along in tapping into the Spirit at work within us that is enabling us to live kindly toward all. #cupofhope #brotherlykindness #inspirehope #advent
Cup of Hope: Advent: Godliness 2 Peter 1:6c What is godliness? How can we live a godly life? #advent #cupofHope #InspireHope #godliness
Cup of Hope: Advent : Patient Endurance 2 Peter 1:6b Add to your self control patient endurance. Patient endurance - holding fast to faith through the highest of highs and lowest of lows. God is able. Trust Him! #cupofhope #advent #endurance #perseverance
Cup of Hope : Advent : Self Control Self control comes on the tails of adding to our virtue, knowledge. How are we to be self controlled in our knowledge? Well, have you ever known something and you want everyone to know that you have the knowledge? Have you ever wanted to be the smarted person in the room and made sure every one knew just how smart you were? Often we live our lives lording knowledge over others - making it seems as though we are more important (or put others on a pedestal) for the knowledge obtained. We are cautioned here to have self control - know there is a time, place and audience for the knoweldge. 2 Peter 1:6a #inspirehope
Cup of Hope: Advent : Knowledge 2 Peter 1:5b #cupofhope #advent #inspirehope
What is virtue? Virtue is moral excellence, it is the gauge of knowing between right and wrong. We are tempted to be swayed to and fro with blurry lines of right and wrong. 2 Peter 1:5a tells us to add to our faith (that God provides all we need) virtue. Virtue is our gift back to God! I encourage you to examine your virtue, and use Proverbs 31 (a wife of noble character) as a guideline for your life. Advent is a season of longing for the long-expected Savior. As we long for Jesus' return, let's get our lives in order, watch and pray and be ready for His return.
The holidays are not "holly jolly" for some. Some of us are experiencing pain, heartache, sadness due to loss, sickness and tragedies. With this in mind, we will study together 2 Peter 1:3-8.
