In 1961 an expansion team called the Washington Senators was established in Major League Baseball (MLB). 11 years later the team relocated to Arlington, Texas and rebranded as the Texas Rangers. Since 1972, Arlington has remained the home of baseball in North Texas. Explore the story of how a team, not generally known for their success, reversed their past misfortune and took home the most coveted prize in all of baseball. Listen, as I take a deep dive into the remarkable story that makes up the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers Ballclub.
One of the greatest bands to ever do it came to fruition in 1974 and their name was Van Halen. Most fans say the band has two eras. The Van Halen era and the Van Hagar era. Diamond David Lee Roth was the exhilarating frontman of the band until his departure in 1985 to pursue a solo career, just one year after the release of their most successful album to that point (1984). Then Sammy Hagar came walking in. Together the band capitalized on the previous success of the band and within a year they released their first album since Roth’s departure (5150), which catapulted the band to #1 on the charts. Both frontmen brought something unique to the band and both found success at the center of Van Halen’s stage. Can you decide which frontman reigns supreme? Is it Diamond Dave, or the does the Red Rocker take the cake?
Metallica fans everywhere know the band's three bassists? However, some may not know there was actually a bassist before the legendary Cliff Burton joined the band. Ron McGovney's tenure in the band may have been short-lived, but he was there in the beginning when the band began to take shape. The untimely death of the band's beloved Cliff Burton could have spelt the end of the band after just three years. In walks Jason Newsted, who helps the band pick up right where they left off, and after three more years helps catapult them into the mainstream with the release of their "Black Album" in 1991. Unfortunately, not all that glitters is gold, and in 2001 Jason Newsted decided to quit the band. Robert Trujillo assumes the role as Metallica's bassist in 2003, and became the longest reigning bassist in the band's forty year history. With Cliff, Jason, and Robert having impressive resumes, and each creating their own legacy within the band, how can one pick a favorite?

What better way to start off the series about those who've passed on entirely too soon than to discuss one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Chris Cornell, the frontman of bands like Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog, definitely made his mark in rock music history. Often referred by many as a pioneer of the grunge music era, his talent on the microphone was and still is undeniable. In the first installment of the Gone Too Soon series we'll talk about the formation of Soundgarden in 1984, his life hitting a dark place after the band broke up in 1997, and how teaming up with legendary guitarist Tom Morello, and the rest of Rage Against the Machine after their lead singer walked away, proved that Chris had the magical gift to turn anything he touched in music to instant gold.
