The T-Shaped Engineer

The T-Shaped Engineer

Today we're gonna talk about T-Shaped Engineer. What is T-Shaped Engineer? T-Shaped Engineer is a person who has a broad high-level overview but at the same time they are able to go deep into the technology, at the code level, and they are able to explain things. How can we define a T-Shaped engineer? We can see a T-Shaped engineer if someone is present at various levels of the development cycle. They are good communicators at the very technical level, at the architecture level, at the requirement level, and they can also see the big picture. Engineering is about communication and as we know, communication is an underrated topic in engineering. We believe that engineering is not only about inventing and solving problems even though if the person is really an expert but if he/she can't communicate properly, then it would be trouble for the team sooner or later. That's why it's very important for a company to have a T-Shaped person. It's a very exciting episode for you guys! Today we're going to talk about cybersecurity. With the new era of digitization in the automotive domain, disruption is quite inevitable. Connectivity will make cars more vulnerable to attacks and may take human safety at risk as well. The threat will not be from the driver who is falling asleep, the threat will be from a cyber attacker. Imagine, instead of COVID-19, the virus was a computer virus and it had crippled the entire network of the globe, it will be doomsday! Customers expect security as part of the vehicle, they don't expect to pay extra for cybersecurity and as we know, automotive in a net is 25 years behind the IT infrastructure. With that, I have a great opportunity to discuss with Gilad Bandel, the VP of Product, and Marketing at Arilou Automotive Cybersecurity about how automation is gonna influence cybersecurity, how much is the potential of a cyber weapon, how easy it is to hack a vehicle, why the automotive industry is far behind compared to the IT industry, and many more! Today, it's all about LiDAR technology! What is LIDAR? LIDAR is the acronym of the term Light Detection And Ranging. LiDAR technology is based on bouncing a spot of light off an object, measuring the time of flight. And I got the opportunity to talk with Aditya Srinivasan from Innoviz Technologies, we talk about LiDAR technology for autonomous vehicles, Elon Musk's radical viewpoint on LiDAR, Tesla's paradigm about cameras and radars can improve to the extent that you will not need a third sensing modality and many more! How LIDAR Works? Most of the LIDAR system works on the time of flight principle, where laser in pulsed form is targeted onto the object and the reflected or the scattered pulse is measured using the detector. By measuring the time difference between the transmitted and reflected pulse, the distance between the objects can be calculated. - Why is radar needed in a self-driving car? Camera vs. Lidar vs. Radar  - The differences between automotive Radar and Lidar. - Vision of the future of automotive radar. We're going to talk about radar technologies. The combination of a camera and the high-performance radar is really something that covers all of the cases, in the automotive industry, we call it sensor fusion. And today we have an amazing guest, Noam Arkind, the CTO & Co-Founder of Arbe who decided to revolutionize radar technology! Functional safety is gaining importance across different industries. The new standard #ISO26262 together with product liability enforce a professional implementation of #FunctionalSafety. Today we're back with another very interesting topic, #SafetyAnalysis. We often get a lot of questions like, why is safety analysis important? What is the purpose of safety analysis? What is the unreasonable risk? And so on. That's why we invite two of our beloved colleagues, Praveen Suvarna and Phalgun Upadhyaya to answer your questions. In this video, we will explain what Safety Analysis methods we use frequently, 2 ways to conduct a safety analysis, inductive safety analysis, deductive safety analysis, 4 steps in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and 4 steps in FTA (Fault Tree Analysis). Guess who's back in Matrickz Tech Talk today? The legendary functional safety expert Hans-Leo Ross! Anyone who's looking for amazing literature that really comprehensive about ISO 26262 - Functional Safety in Automotive would know about Hans-Leo Ross's books. 📕 Funktionale Sicherheit im Automobil 📕 Functional Safety for Road Vehicles 📕 Safety for Future Transport and mobility We have 16 years of history when it comes to ISO 26262, especially in the past decade, the automotive industry has gone through massive changes. One we talked a great deal about is the electrification of vehicles, we will have autonomous vehicles, and we will have connected vehicles. All these technologies will change the landscape forever! Is ISO 26262 - the functional safety standard is the right answer for all these? What do we need in order to adapt to the upcoming disruptions in the industry? In this episode, Leo showed us the birth certificate of ISO 26262 and we talked about autonomous safety, the future of mobility, the safety aspect of transportation, and many more! We have heard requirements like we need ten trillion miles of data, billions of situations that we have to cover before deploying autonomous vehicles in the street. We are gonna need an enormous amount of testing. Besides that, we want to test the corner cases, edge cases and that's not ethical to try out with the human driver, and we are also risking the entire environment. In terms of edge cases, it is not even possible to replicate that without putting people's lives in danger. So the only way we can handle those is by simulating. In this episode, Our CEO Dr. Hasan Ibne Akram, and Roy Fridman, VP Business Development & Sales of Foretellix Ltd will talk more about Testing Scenarios of Autonomous Vehicles. 👉 link to M-SDL: https://lnkd.in/dzTNhBz 👉 link to ASAM OpenSCENARIO: Version 2.0.0 Concepts https://lnkd.in/d6fEJmK Foretellix announcement: https://lnkd.in/d62Gnm4 FREE WEBINAR - ISO/SAE 21434 - AUTOMOTIVE CYBERSECURITY https://www.lordsofcarhackers.com/webinar #TestingScenarios #AutonomousDrivingSimulation #AutonomousDrivingScenarios #AutonomousVehicleScenarioTesting #AutonomousVehicleScenario #AutonomousVehicleSimulation #autonomousvehicles #autonomousvehicle #autonomousdriving #simulations #AutonomousVehicleTesting #simulation #testingtools #functionalsafety #validationengineer #validation
The main challenge in the autonomous vehicle industry is that we try to replace the human driver with the machine or software. Many technologies have been created to help us make this happen, one of them is the system sensor. Sensors such as LiDar, Radar, cameras have a very important role, which is to function as the eye of an autonomous vehicle. Much like human drivers, autonomous vehicles rely on optical sensors to understand their environment and identify hazards. One such challenge is when a sensor’s view of the world becomes obscured by water or dirt. This seems to be a very challenging task for LiDARs which need to differentiate between a real object beyond the LiDAR, and elements that are right on the LiDAR window. In this episode, Our CEO Dr. Hasan Ibne Akram, and Tom Jellicoe, Consultant - Sensors & Devices at TTP plc will talk more about the sensor system, LiDAR, sensor cleaning technology, the safety aspect of it, etc. FREE WEBINAR - ISO/SAE 21434 - AUTOMOTIVE CYBERSECURITY https://www.lordsofcarhackers.com/webinar #AutonomousVehicleSystemSensors #CarSensor #LiDAR #Radar #radarsensor #sensors #sensortechnology #systemsensors #systemsensor #AutonomousDrivingSensor #AutonomousVehicleSensors #autonomousvehicles #autonomousvehicle #automotiveindustry
Did you know that 40% of the fatalities on the road are happening in the junction? Imagine if we have technology that can help us to reduce that number. In this episode, you will learn about autonomous traffic management, the human acceptance of that technology, how much of a change the traffic user and the drivers have to go through in order to accept the technology. Listen to the stimulating discussions between our CEO, Dr. Hasan Ibne Akram, and Tal Kreisler, the Co-Founder & CEO of NoTraffic, the world's first autonomous traffic management platform that solving today's traffic challenges.
