The US-led coalition is investigating reports that one of its air attacks killed more than 100 civilians in the west of the city on ten days ago. The BBC's Orla Guerin met civilians casualties at a field hospital south of #Mosul.

Leaders of the EU are gathered in Malta today discussing some of the organisation's biggest problems in its smallest member state – the population of Malta is smaller than Shropshire’s.
Alongside hardy perennials like the migration crisis they’ll be trying to decide how to deal with the political challenges being posed apparently every day by the Trump administration. The Prime Minister Theresa May will be at the morning session but will tactfully miss the afternoon talks where Brexit might come up. But there are British expatriates on Malta who hope that our old ally in the Mediterranean will be on our side diplomatically when push comes to shove. Our Europe Correspondent Kevin Connolly went to meet some of them.

Inviting the EU leaders to their regular summits these days calls for the same careful thought as inviting a divorced couple to a wedding.
Take tomorrow’s gathering on the Mediterranean island of Malta for example…it’s been decided that Theresa May WILL be at the morning session but won’t attend in the afternoon when the subject of the EU’s future – and Brexit – is discussed.
That still leaves scope to talk about the EU’s migration crisis and what sort of attitude Europe should strike to Donald Trump’s America… Our Europe Correspondent Kevin Connolly has been watching the Maltese prepare to host the year's first EU summit.

The European Parliament in Strasbourg is about to wind down. When it reconvenes in January we'll have a clear sign of how Europe's MEPs view their British counterparts six months on from Brexit - because parliament will be voting on how many committee chairs should go to British members. So how are British MEPs feeling about being out of a job in a couple of years? Europe Correspondent Kevin Connolly reports from Strasbourg for @bbcr4today. Produced by Larissa Kennelly, broadcast 13/12/16.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened this morning to throw open Turkey’s borders with the EU to hundreds of thousands of migrants. Produced by Larissa Kennelly, broadcast on Radio 4's Today in Parliament on Nov 25th 2016.
The political plates are shifting from the USA to the UK and in the Baltics they worry about what will happen to NATO. Our correspondent Kevin Connolly was there twenty five years ago when Moscow sent the tanks into Lithuania at the end of the Cold War. For this morning's programme we asked him to return to gauge concern. Kevin set out to find a group of women singers he remembers from the dramatic night when Soviet tanks killed unarmed protestors calling for Lithuanian independence. Broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House on November 27th 2016. Produced by Piers Scholfield.

Our Europe Correspondent Kevin Connolly reports from the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. Produced by Piers Scholfield for @bbcr4today & @bbcworldservice
Poland, like all remaining 27 EU member states, retains a veto over any eventual trade deal negotiated with the UK. With Britain's position on migration and freedom of movement for EU citizens a central issue, our Europe Correspondent Kevin Connolly travelled to Warsaw to see how the debate in Poland is taking shape.
