All this week on Newstalk, we are shining a light on homelessness with Focus Ireland.
'Shine A Light Night' is Focus Ireland’s flagship campaign which takes place this year on Friday 16th October in partnership with Bord Gais Energy. They are asking their supporters to sleep out for one night to shine a light on homelessness and raise vital funds for their work supporting people experiencing homelessness.
As a part of the drive to raise awareness for the campaign, Andrea Gilligan was joined by a panel of experts to discuss the various factors which contribute to homelessness in Ireland and look at the ways in which we might be able to eliminate homelessness for good.

Together they discuss the possible reasons why the number of sex crimes reported to the Gardaí have increased for the sixth year in succession last year, surpassing what was already a record high. As well as this, there was a 3 per cent increase in the total number of sexual offences reported to the force last year, up from 3,179 offences in 2018.
