Reports of Sexual Crimes on the Rise
Update: 2020-02-14
Description
On this week's 'Between the Lines' programme, Andrea is joined by a panel of experts to discuss the increasing levels of reports of sexual crimes in Ireland.
Together they discuss the possible reasons why the number of sex crimes reported to the Gardaí have increased for the sixth year in succession last year, surpassing what was already a record high. As well as this, there was a 3 per cent increase in the total number of sexual offences reported to the force last year, up from 3,179 offences in 2018.
To get to the bottom of the figures and discuss the issues, Andrea was joined by:
Cliona Sadlier, Executive Director of Rape Crisis Network Ireland
Maeve Lewis, Executive Director of One in Four
Dr. Rosaleen McElvaney, Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist, and Assistant Professor in Psychotherapy at DCU
