During Covid in 2020, he lost his job and started his own marketing business through his desire to support others. All his life, Dave James wanted to be heard.   He was diagnosed with Spina Bifida and Clubfoot as a child, having more than two major operations before school age and he developed a foot ulcer aged 20 that changed his life, his career path and the relationship he had with himself. Amy has been a compulsive overeater her entire life. She started young using food to cope with loneliness, frustration and boredom. As she got older, the frequency and quantity increased to binges in order to procrastinate, and cope with anger, stress, and anxiety. At her high, she weighed 270 lbs and was diabetic.   In May 2016, she was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis and nearly died.  From there, she found the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, learned how to cope with the stressors of life without turning to food and became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.   She lost 70 lbs and eliminated her diabetes.  Her mission is to empower compulsive overeaters with recovery tools for their food addiction.  In our conversation, we discuss limiting beliefs, negative mindsets and how to reframe them. Tom spent most of his childhood feeling alone and unsafe. By the age of 14 he had moved countries 5 times and been to two boarding schools in a  different country to his parents.  So he grew up without any sense of home or stability.  He found his safety in the outdoors, when he learned to rock climb aged 14. In the mountains of Snowdonia he discovered what it meant to have agency. To be in control. It was the first time in his life that he created his own reality.   Over the years he has learned so much about the power that nature,  adventure, and spirituality have to heal and transform and he still has so much more to learn.  He has developed a philosophy he calls Adventure Consciousness. In this episode, I talk to a Cancer Survivor, Crystal Howrie. After 30 years in the travel and tourism industry, Crystal experienced her own personal journey with cancer which has inspired her to start her own home-based travel agency and set up a cancer support charity called Blue Dot Army in 2013. Blue Dot represents the permanent tattoo you require when receiving conventional radiation treatment. Crystal met some incredible people during that time sitting in waiting rooms. She heard so many stories that touched her heart that she made a commitment to one day go back into that world and change the cancer experience for others. The symbol chosen for Blue Dot Army is the butterfly, it represents change, endurance, hope, and life - all the things needed when diagnosed with Cancer.
