We are into the last month of Summer and the football season has arrived. Has it gone fast or slow? Over the course of the Summer we have seen the top two add "number 9's" their squads, Ten Haag try to impose himself on the United squad, Barcelona come back from the dead and we witnessed England's Woman's team bring the Euro's home while breaking attendance records. The SPL was back last weekend and the Premier League is back Friday night at Selhurst Park with Palace vs Arsenal. Who you got to be relegated amongst you and your friends? Who makes your top 4? Will Spurs split the top two? If you do Fantasy football who is going to come top and bottom of your mini leagues and whose sitting down with a pint at 3pm on Saturday to watch Jeff and the boys with a coupon on? The football is back and there are not many greater feelings. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/Jcannon93
Synced up with Ali and AJ to chat about Rangers loss in the Europa League final, Haddington getting promotion and we picked our Prem team of the season at the end. Final day of the season on Sunday. Can Stevie G pull off a miracle for the red half of Merseyside? I hope so... Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. Link to all platforms: https://linktr.ee/Jcannon93
Had the idea for a while to do this one with the NB Ammie boys. Perfect timing as they just wrapped up the fist full season together. The time that Finlay, Jack and Hamish take out their days to make sure this team keeps going is nothing short of superb. We chat about what was needed to get the team going, how the idea came about and when they knew it was going to actually work. Some fantastic stories in here even if you aren't a football fan, but if you are and you are into amateur football you will love this. The balance these boys have created of keeping it fun mixed with making sure it's serious enough to not have people stop playing has been perfect. You will feel that as you listen to this podcast. Plenty more of these types of conversations to come over the Summer and not just football related. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. The first in studio podcast. What a day for it as Jurgen Klopp signed a two year contract extension and we had West Ham and Rangers in the Europa League Semi-Final. Does Pep sign an extension and go toe for toe with Klopp for an extra two years? Is Declan Rice worth 100 million plus and has Gio Van Bronckhorst improved Rangers? Sit back. Relax. Recorded on Wednesday night during a Benzema masterclass at Stamford Bridge Ali came back to argue his points on Ryan Kent after a heated whats app group debate last week. We compared Kent with the likes of Podence, Saint Maximum and Trossard and asked if he is over or under rated. Could Kent do it in the Premier League? Alongside that we gave our thoughts on the Old Firm game last weekend, has anyone dropped deep and evolved like Harry Kane has (Rooney?) and gave our quick thoughts on Masters weekend and who will lift the Premier League and Champions league trophies come the end of the season. Liverpool vs City on Sunday. Who you got? Masters weekend. Who you got? If you don't think Tiger can win they you don't believe in sport. Sit back. Relax. International break has finished up with Scotland having played two friendlies against Poland and Austria while the Ukraine qualifier has been postponed. We talked about what we think is Scotland best Xi, is Billy Gilmour still to weak off the ball, who is better Ryan Jack or Callum McGregor and who did you like more prime Berbatov or prime Torres? The final break in the club season before the business end kicks into gear. Our Lowland League specialist and loyal hammer AJ came along for this one and brought his mate Cammy. Originally Cammy did not want to be on camera but you will soon see he steals the show. AJ gave the lowdown on what's been happening with the recent vote in the the Lowland League and what it means moving forward for teams around there and we finish giving our thoughts on how the Europa League and Champions league may finish out this season. Is Declan Rice worth 150 million and are Rangers better than West Ham? Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. The plan was for this to be a summary of the season so far and to go over what we had predicted before the season had started. But how often do things go to plan? Breaking news on the day we were planning to record with Steven Gerrard going to Villa had to take priority and we got the raw emotional thoughts of our very own man Scotty G on how this felt as a Rangers a fan. After that we ended up on a tangent talking about styles and personalities of managers compared to the clubs they are at, how much do tactics matter and is Ole actually coaching at Man United? You know the drill by now. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. I messed up the last upload for the audio platforms so here is the better edited sound quality version. Always get buzzing when I hear the intro for this one. Another International break another Podcast. I met up in the heart of Gorgie with Ali, AJ and Granty and we chatted about the lower leagues in Scottish football (Ali currently playing with Haddington and AJ playing with Dunbar) Hearts and Hibs and how fun going Newcastle on the new footy manager is going to be. As always there is some great points made amongst all that especially when we chat about the lower leagues in Scottish football. Until the next one... Sit back. Relax. Since we last spoke a lot has happened. Kane has stayed at Spurs. Messi left for PSG and ended the Barcelona we all came to love growing up. The Messiah retuned to Old Trafford. Alongisde that we had what in my head is without doubt the worst International break I can ever remember. Is it time for International football to be revamped? Stevie Clarke got a new contract, Billy Gilmour remains Scotland best technical footballer I think the boys and myself have ever seen in our lifetime and weirdly enough Scotland feel like they might actually be evolving into something we may all enjoy to watch, even if it is a little rough right now... All eyes will be on Old Trafford this weekend as the Messiah returns home. Is Ronaldo enough to bring Ole and the United fans that big piece of silverware they have been missing for a while now? I guess this is our version of a season preview? Discussions on the Scottish League this year and how it could be the most competitive overall since we were kids, and how will Gerrard cope with his team having the target on their back after winning the first league title in 10 years? We split the Premier League in half and discuss what we think could be the bottom ten and top ten in what could be one hell of a season, certainly at the top end. Biggest signing of the summer so far? Messi? Na. It's our very own Scotty G signing for the NB Amateurs. Sit Back. Relax. Pour Yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. The Football is back. I got in touch with Lewis over Twitter and we arranged this chat and got it recorded. Lewis is currently the assistant coach at Dunkirk FC U18's, Academy Scout for Sheffield United at the weekends and also coaches youth teams at Ruddington and Underwood Villa. We dived into Lewis views on coaching, his scouting role at the weekend for Sheffield United and what it entails, and finished off by Lewis giving me the lowdown on the mighty Nottingham Forest, and what it's like to have been supporting a club that has massive history, but in recent times have been a shadow of that history. Football will be the bread and butter of this podcast, but I have more interests that I would like to dive into. I had the man behind the WFH Lunch club page Murray West join me for the first podcast on here that is not football related. We chatted about Murrays WHY on starting the page, how we both try and handle social media, what Murrays thoughts are on moving forward with the page now some people are returning to work and how he isn't the Kim K of Instagram. Really enjoyable and refreshing conversation with Murray and cool to hear his thinking behind the idea he has come up with. If you haven't heard of him check out WFH Lunch club on Instagram, and if you enjoy showing off your lunches send them in to him to post. Murray is also donating all the funds he receives from selling his merchandise to Empty Kitchens, Full Hearts in Leith if you would like to get in on that and help. Ultimately, we both have had fun starting something up with these ideas and you will get the gist of the conversation that it's all we really care about. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
Joining me for this conversation is Cammy Graham who is currently a part time player at Stenhousemuir. Cammy is the first player I have had the chance to speak with, and being 18 I thought he could share his experiencers for other young people in his situation or similar as through his time so far he has been at the likes of Hearts, Dunfermline, St Johnstone and now Stenhousemuir. We chatted about Cammy's timeline and the different experiences he had at each club, and you will see when you listen to this how much of a positive attitude he has for a kid at 18 dealing with a few setbacks. Cammy has not only had setbacks in his time in football, but recently he was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer the day football got the green light to go back, and he is extremely open talking about this for the last 5 minutes or so. As he says many times when talking about his setbacks, it is what it is and you've just got to be positive and keep moving forward. Spot on for someone who is still very young. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. Below is the link to the charity he has chosen and currently raised over 7 grand for so far if anyone feels like they would want to donate after listening to this: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/camerongraham
I sat down for a chat yesterday with Hibernian Woman's assistant coach, and owner/partner of 3 vs 2 Soccer Academy Roddy Maughan. We touched on Roddy's journey through playing at the likes of Raith, Arbroath and East Stirling. His coaching so far and his experiences coaching in Spain and Egypt, how the woman's game may be moving forward quicker than the mens game and what Scotland can do to stop chasing other countries ideas on the football front. Huge thanks to Roddy for coming on and having this chat with me and thanks to Sean McAuley for the introduction. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
It's all calmed down a little now on the Super League front. The idea has collapsed, everyone in football happy they didn't have what they love stolen from them during the midst of a global pandemic. Thank god. After a few days of taking in the news I have found it very interesting how the conversation has quickly shifted to the fact that we need to do something to get football back on track for the better. Every pundit and fan across the country seems to be in agreement with this. The question is will we stop, take a look around and try and change the game and move it forward in the right way? Or will we all forget about it when our owners buy us the next big player for 200 million this summer? Joining me to have the discussion on the idea that football does need to change it's ways and move forward is Chelsea fan and friend of Mathew, Dylan Sibbald, and also life long Man City fan, the legend that is Adam Munro making his debut on the podcast. "I know you are taking it in the teeth, but the first guy through the wall...He always gets bloody...always. This is threatening not just a way of doing business...But in their minds, it's threatening the game" - John Henry, Moneyball. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
Everyone in the football world was shocked by the news that was released last night regarding the creation of a Europen Super League. I fell in love with football and Liverpool at 5/6 years old, went on to be a youth football coach in California for 8 years and am now using the podcast platform to discuss football and try and stay involved in what has been a huge part of my life. Here are my thoughts on what is currently been going on in the last 24hrs along with my brother Mathew's. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
It's an unbelievable race for 3rd and 4th in the Premier League this season. You have Leicester, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all playing for two spots! Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs are the ones that would be hurt the most by missing out, and for Liverpool and Spurs if you are looking at form it doesn't look good. Can Davey Moyes and the boys pull off the unthinkable? Will a Brendan Rodgers side blow it again? Has Tuchel improved Chelsea enough to secure top 4? Has Mourinho lost his magic and will Jurgen and the lads be able to pull through with enough belief to secure top 4 in what will be a trophyless season after ending a 30 year wait for the Premier league title? What an end to the season we have coming up folks. Thanks to AJ and Mathew for joining me on this one. You know the deal by now. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation. P.s. The Pubs are almost open!!
I was put in touch with Sean McAuley and we sat down for a chat last week. Sean is currently East Lothian co-ordinator for the SFA, 1st team coach at Bonnyrigg Rose who play in the Scottish Lowland League and has also had some playing experience when he was younger at clubs such as Dundee United, Hibs and Clyde. We talked about Seans journey through playing and then leading into coaching, the importance of freedom, creativity and expression when coaching kids, how coaching a mens team is a way to bring back that buzz of a Saturday plus much more. Sit back. Relax. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy the conversation.
