I love to ride on my own.
Left or right, fast or slow, stop or continue, it is only me.
Perhaps the nicest thing about riding on my own is that it leaves me open to meeting someone new, and to meet someone new is wonderful.
The most interesting people are right in front of me or even better, on the bike beside me.
We meet at an intersection, climbing a hill or on a beautiful back road. A conversation begins, they something compelling, and I look over at them. But soon they go right, I go left, and whoosh, it ends.
What happens if they don’t go right, I don’t go left, and it does not end is when Derailleur Podcast begins.
The Derailleur is a device on a bike that changes gears, and this is the essence of Derailleur Podcast.
Join me and we will ride out into the ordinary and Derail into the extraordinary. The bike is our catalyst and a wonderful way to start a conversation, but it is the
person on the bike that I am interested in.
Originality, inspiration, positivity, strength, compassion, humour, love, who does not want a little of that in their day?
Everyone has something, let's go for a ride together, discover a guest and Derail. Press play, change gears, join me and whoever you are with, Derail.
What do you say when someone tells you that they went for a 10 kilometre run after their car was broken into to decide if they should run a 160 kilometre race that had already started? I am going to keep this in my back pocket when things get tough, kind of a ‘What would Nik Do or a WWND?’ I think that is the beauty of meeting someone like Nik, you get little snips of what makes an elite athlete tick and as much as they are elite, they are also human and have ways of seeing life and hurdles in a fascinating perspective. He has laid the grounds for how he wants to approach his running and I know he if he applies it to his life, he will have a monumental one. Instagram: @runnik100km
Antoine, I was lucky to meet him and have him on this first episode. He is the guy you would meet at a packed house party and totally forget there was a party going on. I think the word to use is enthralling. He just has a way of seeing things the way they should be, and I am sure he developed this by his unique approach to how he wants to live his life. The combination of close friends, his love of cinematography and film and simply getting out and doing things, bike or no bike will guarantee him success. He was a find and perfectly shows the beauty of Derailing.
