SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 345, “Personal Passions of the Powerful,” Kim discusses the importance of recognizing the personal aspects of the public personalities who impact large groups of people. Kim shared some of the unique passions of former and current world leaders and personalities, as well as King Uzziah love for the soil. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 344, “Who Taught You to Fear God?” Kim discusses the difference a consistent practice of healthy fear of the Lord will make in your daily life. In today’s focal passage, we see that King Uzziah was taught by Zechariah to “fear God.” As a result of fearing God, he “sought guidance from the Lord.” Just imagine how our world would be if each Christ-follower consistently practiced a healthy fear of the Lord?   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:1-5, with 5 as the focal verse:   5 Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 343, “What Idols Do You Need to Completely Erase?” Kim discusses the dangers of partial obedience. King Uzziah, as well as a few of his ancestors, are described as doing what was pleasing in the Lord’s sight, but they did not destroy the pagan shrines. First, this was in direct disobedience to God’s instructions to the Israelites when they came into the promised land. Additionally, even if these were not places of temptation for these kings, they were places of temptation for others and needed to be completely eradicated. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 340, “Don’t Just Nod at God,” Kim discusses the difference between a life in which one only nods in God’s direction and one wholly committed to the Lord and His purposes. King Jehoahaz looked to God only because the conditions were beyond his control, and he sought God’s help. Just imagine the kingdom impact he could have had if he had wholly surrendered to the Lord instead of just nodding in His direction.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 13:1-9, with 4-6 as the focal verses:   4 Then Jehoahaz prayed for the Lord’s help, and the Lord heard his prayer, for he could see how severely the king of Aram was oppressing Israel. 5 So the Lord provided someone to rescue the Israelites from the tyranny of the Arameans. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 339, “Like Father, Like Son-Not Always a Good Thing,” Kim discusses the positive and negative aspects of the concept - like father, like son. In today’s podcast, we explore a sad tale of a like father, like son relationship with poor choices and violent ends. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. In today’s story, we see at least three people who were in on a dangerous child protection project. Each of them risked their life to hide a baby boy from his out-of-control, power-hungry grandmother, Athaliah.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 11:1-16, with 2-3 as the focal verse:   2 But Ahaziah’s sister Jehosheba, the daughter of King Jehoram, took Ahaziah’s infant son, Joash, and stole him away from among the rest of the king’s children, who were about to be killed. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 328, “She Encouraged Him in Doing Wrong,” Kim discusses the evil influences on King Ahaziah of Judah. Not only did his own mother encourage him in doing wrong, but he was advised in similar directions by other relatives. All of us have had at least one person who either encouraged us in doing wrong or did something to us that changed the trajectory of our lives. Sadly, some of us may have also been that person in the lives of others. SHOW NOTES   In Podcast Episode 326, “Having the Heart of the Good Shepherd,” Kim discusses the heart of the Good Shepherd, as detailed in John 10, and the importance of praying for that heart to be in leaders today. Sadly, many who have been privileged to proclaim the Word of God, either in a pulpit or in a concert setting, have acted more like the wolf than a Godly shepherd. May today be a turning point as our prayers pour heavenward on behalf of all those in ministerial roles.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 8:7-15, with verses 11-12 as the focal verses:   11 Elisha stared at Hazael with a fixed gaze until Hazael became uneasy. Then the man of God started weeping. 12 “What’s the matter, my lord?” Hazael asked him.
