After we discuss these dilemmas, we have an important announcement about the future of our podcast, so stick around until the end. We've not posted an episode in seven weeks, but there are good reasons for that. Each of the presenters has significant life events to report--some heartbreaking, some joyful, some painful but necessary. As always, these transitions bring up intriguing ethical dilemmas, cultural observations, or positive notes which we discuss in this episode. Today we pivot slightly to talk about a growing concern in American society--Phishing, Smishing, and Vishing. That is, online scams involving email (phishing), texting (smishing), and voice or telephone (vishing). They're not only unethical, they're downright illegal. Scamming incidents are on the rise and they're getting more sophisticated, leaving thousands of victims in their wake. This episode provides information on three important areas: The first segment describes common scams out there, and our personal experience with them. In the second part (29:36) we give you a list of safety practices to help keep your assets protected. The third segment (44:30) outlines immediate steps to take if you find yourself caught up in a scam. Knowledge is power and forewarned is forearmed. We hope the discussion in this podcast leaves you better equipped to spot scams and to keep yourself and your family protected. Today we're talking about a subject I never really considered until I heard a lengthy discussion about it on the radio before Christmas. That is, the question of picking visitors up at the airport and giving them a lift to the airport to catch a flight. To whom do you give rides and when do you suggest they take a taxi or an Uber? Perhaps you've never even thought about this, but giving it some consideration may make you a more thoughtful guest in the future. I first heard this etiquette topic on the Clay and Buck Show. Check out their website where you can find out where to find their program and how to listen to their podcast. https://www.clayandbuck.com Here's a link to "1440," the daily newsletter I mentioned in the podcast. https://join1440.com/ Ethics and Etiquette is a thought-provoking dialogue about everyday dilemmas.
