Last week we began our study on doubt. We learned that doubt is a part of our human psyche, a part of our daily life, it’s human nature to doubt. Healthy skepticism and questioning is what keeps us from being easily misled, deceived, manipulated and led astray. Natural doubt many of times assists us to make rational judgments as to a matter or circumstance. What we also learned was that doubt is also supernatural or ecclesiastical, which is Biblical in nature. Now, don’t get hung up on the word supernatural. The word supernatural is simply defined, as that which pertains to unearthly, that which is of another plane of existence. So, when we say supernatural, we’re saying that it has to do with something more than our natural being.
Doubt – What exactly is doubt? What does Jesus mean by telling us If ye have faith, and doubt not? James tells us that we ought to ask in faith, without doubting, For he that doubts is like a wave blowing with the wind. Is doubt unbelief? Do I not believe God because I have doubts?
Paul writes in Phil 2:12-13:Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. This passage is often misused to instill or to cause fear in people, by warning them that it means they can lose salvation, be cast away from the Lord if they don’t meet with His approval.
In life we often face challenges, obstacles, events, trials, tribulations, temptations and troubles, all of which brings with it confusion and confoundedness to our spiritual sense – our faith.
Most of us believe that God heals, but how many of us operate in the faith it requires to obtain the blessing of physical healing?
Zech. 3:1-3And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. 2 And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire? Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 4 And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
Psalms. 23David knew that his trusting in the Lord, the Lord would always be his Shepard and his friend, through all of the days of his life – through all the changes; in every variety of situation and circumstance, he would always have the favor of God’s goodness and mercy. And, once life closes here, he was assured that he would dwell with the Lord in heaven.
We are quickened and made alive through the Spirit of God.
What does God's Word tell us about growing to spiritual maturity?
1John 2:15-16Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.Question: "What is the pride of life and cares of the world?"
What is God's Name? Come find out.
Fellowship In The Word is a Church without Walls. What does it mean to be a Church without walls?
I want to address one of the most popular Christianese sayings, “Resist the devil and he will flee!” What Christianese is, are phrases, terms, sayings and the quoting of scriptures by Christians without the real substance of application to our lives. Most of us quote and even subscribe to this scripture, “resist the devil and he will flee”, James 4:7. Yet, in my 30+ years of walking with the Lord, I find that James 4:7 is more Christianese, and is rarely, if at all, effective in most Christians lives.
PRAYERWhat is Prayer? Why do we need to Pray? The purpose of Prayer?
I love God’s Word, there is so much richness to it. His Word is truly a lamp unto our feet. It is sweeter than honey, it converts the soul and makes wise the simple. Hearing God’s Word with a true heart will always convict us and challenge us. Today, we will be both challenged and convicted by the truth of God’s Word. There is always much talk in the Christian community about knowing God’s will, seeking God’s will, but listen to what God says about it.
There is one thing I see quite often in the Christian community, amongst believers; and that is, many act as if some have received something from God, that they have not received. Or that, God has somehow bestowed upon some something special, while others lack. This seems to cause almost a cast system in the Christian community, were some are esteemed, while others feel superior to another. Yet, there is now one in Christ, who has received anything that the other has not received. No matter where you are in your Christian growth. My Brother Paul, who was more spiritual and closer to the Lord than us all told me this:
You Need Not That Any Man Teach You1 John 2:20But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
Luke 10:38-42As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
RM + B (x) DH = TtRJohn 1:12-13As many as believed in Him, He gives the right to become sons and daughters of God, not born of the will of a man, of blood nor of the flesh but by the Spirit of God. We become a child of God by believing and receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are granted grace and mercy and all of our sins are forgiven, cleansed through the effective working power of the Holy Spirit.
Wait, I say, wait upon the Lord, all you His faithful believers.Ps. 130:5-6I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. 6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
